Study Tip from NCT's Jaehyun
From today's Night Night Night
Hi Dunia! Could you enlighten me with some memorization techniques/stuff that works? I have trouble with memorizing textbook info and I kinda sorta forgot how I used to do it in highschool 😤😤
Ok so I am gonna do a masterpost on this, but here are some quick tips.:
Say it out loud. After reading a chapter try to word it with your own words out loud. Do this a couple of times. First by looking at your notes and then once you have a explanation ready try to say it without looking.
Make sense of what you study. If you understand the concept of what you read, meaning lets say that you are studying the anatomy of the abdomen, if you understand why the compenents are named the way they are, if you know their primary functions, memorizing them will be much easier.
Write it down on a board. So I do this at school, because I dont have my own whiteboard at home, but, this is such a great way to memorize things. When you write on a whiteboard you try to create an overview. Try to do this with little to no help from your notes, see what it is that you cannot figure out and then try to write that on the board with help from your notes, delete it, and then write it again with no help from notes
I know that this seems like ALOT but memorizing does require for you to get the things over and over again. I really dont believe that anyone memorizes the things from the get go, so be patient and just work hard and I promise you will get there
Love,
Dunia
Study Tip #2
Don’t underestimate the value of teamwork when it comes to studying!
Working with a group of your classmates can be one of the best methods of studying. Not only are you able to get help if you need it, you can also teach concepts that you understand well to someone else. By talking through ideas and working together to solve practise problems, you’ll actually be able to absorb more of the information and be able to recall it better too!
It is important to note that group study sessions only work well if everyone is motivated and ready to study! Otherwise, it’s really easy for a ‘study session’ to turn into lots of chit-chat and goofing around.
Tips on retaining information when you have issues with memory/frequent dissociation due to trauma? I often get so frustrated with myself, because I adore learning new things, but struggle to keep new information locked into long-term memory. If I can't drag up the information when it's needed, it feels like I didn't study at all. And I hate that feeling.
Well, personally I can relate to you. I tend to forget things pretty easily and thus, I would get angry because I just couldn’t memorize things, especially during the examination period. Some of these tips work quite well for me so yeah, I hope it helps you!
1. Use abbreviations. For content-based subjects like Chemistry, for example, you can use abbreviations to memorize things easier. I would try to come up with words I could easily remember, even though it might not be related to Chemistry.
2. Make up a story. I learned this technique back in religious class where I have to memorize the Surah in the Qur'an. My friends and I would make up a story that seems pretty reasonable and make it into a story. Arabic isn’t my first language and thus, I have a hard time memorizing those Surahs. So by making up a story (in English) it kind of helps me memorize things easier.
3. Always refer back. Reading things over and over again might help. There’s one time that I have to memorize some kind of phrase and I just could not help but to get confused with another phrase. It might seem hard at first but I kept on referring back and somehow I would get used to it.
There, I hope this tips kind of help you in learning and memorizing new things. Well, I’m no expert in this but for someone, who struggles with memorizing things, I am glad that I am able to share my experiences and how I try to overcome it. Even though there are times where I still have a hard time memorizing contents, don’t feel panic and always stay calm.

Dear you! This is for you that might help you also.
I knew that memorizing is always matter and many student are easily get confuse and do not know how to remember properly. I'm also a student, I do not get high grades or being constant at my grades. I hope this will help you a lot to remember everything not just memorizing.
But let me tell you that studying a lesson is not just one day you'll remember everything after you seat and study for 6 hrs or more than that! You'll just get stressed!
1. To understand and to recall
Before you memorize, you need to understand everything and so in that case you can recall! Focus on the topic that you do not understand.
2. Get a retention and test yourself
In order to get retention you need to keep reading it! Always read! And test yourself. Use Quizlet and make flashcards (You are single! No one will help you! For short wala kang jowa! 😂)
3. Voice record
Try this one! It will also help you a lot! You can make a voice record questions and save it on your phone and there you may test yourself and so fort.
4. Choose time wisely!
Morning or evening? You can choose what time you are effectively can memorize more and study! (pero sa panahon ngayon di na uso yon, kasi lagi kang magisa 😂 basa kana lang besh! Wag mo na hintaying replyan ka!)
5. Use Mnemonics
This is so fun! Like you are just playing! (ito na lang paglaruan mo wag puso nya!) for example
He - Heart
Lay - Lung
Down - Diaphragm
Life - Large intestines
Sacrifices - Stomach
Gift - Gall bladder
6. Create matching types for note taking. (baka wala kang jowa dito kana lang mag match wag na sa dating app.) for ex.
Possible reactions of contrast agents
Mild - chills, flushing, etc.
Moderate - hypertension, mild hypotension, etc.
Severe - covulsions, unresponsiveness, etc.
7. Choose the difference (wag ka papaloko.) must know the diff.
For ex.
*which have a threshold levels of radiation dose (stochastic)
*which have definite threshold levels of radiation dose. (deterministic)
Is it Non stochastic/deterministic or Stochastic/probabilistic?
Note: the tip#7 choose the difference, understand them both but choose to memorize the other one so you won't be confused if what is the difference between the two.
Godblessed you I hope it will help you. More prayer, seek God first! Always start your day with the Lord.
My memorizing tips
well, at least the ones that works for me. everyone learns differently but I still thaught it would be a good idea to share how I do it.
- take small chunks of text and repeat constantly in front of mirror or anywhere else in the house....like in front of a wall and thinking its your partner
- make vivid mental images of what you are reading. seeing the words in your head and "reading" the images as you say your text.
-write what you remember on paper
-read aloud
-once you remember all you text, try to say it all in a different location and at a different time in the day, sometimes, memory connects with time and place. you may remember your text in your room perfectly, but once you're in the bathroom, yikes! you forget everything (happens a lot to me)
-say the words in different intonation, voice, pitch ect, ect.
-record yourself, watch and learn.
so yeah, those are the tips that work best for me!
Right now, im practicing a monologue from The Cid by Pierre Corneille. Im doing the monologue of Infanta (classical). I want to do it for an audition for a school in January (Toronto Academy of Acting).
