i got this thing as a christmas present one year. i have no idea who got it for me, but i remember playing it for the first time with my dad, while we were sitting on the floor. the machine itself had a distinctly "fishy" smell that i didn't like, but i also didn't complain about it, because they're fish and that's the smell they should be.
after christmas, i only played with it a few more times. i lost the fishing rods pretty quick, but that was okay, because i preferred to just let the fish bite my fingers instead.
french lobster is here because the cube is too big on its own. anyway, oh my god, lite brites.
this picture isn’t mine, i stole it off ebay, but this fucking thing is exactly what i had. for anyone that doesn’t know, this little cube came with semi-translucent colored pegs (of varying lengths) that you could stick inside of the holes, and then you PLUG IN THE CUBE to turn on the LIGHTBULB inside of the cube, and you get to see a pretty display of colors!
the main idea behind it was to make different shapes, but i was always more interested in the idea of completely filling up one side of this cube with pegs, to see an entire wall of pretty light colors!
sadly, i didn’t have anywhere near enough pegs to completely fill up a side of this cube. But that didn’t stop me from trying. So many times.

Woman: Warm cocoa for a chilly night.
Woman: You always knew just what to get me.
Woman: If you could pour a cup of my feelings, would you bring them to where I desire?
Woman: If you could, then a drop would be enough. Bring me all my feelings for you.
Woman: Fill it right up, right to the brim.
Woman: Just…be careful not to spill any on the way.

Man: That was my greatest goal in life.
Man: And I’ve followed through with it so far.
Man: I have lived my life without regrets.

Man: Truth be told, it was an all-around good life.
Man: At least it was supposed to be, yet here I am in sorrow.
Man: As I inch ever nearer to death, I realize I have no one to share it with.
Man: ...I’m scared.
Dog Collar
Dog: It was a gloomy, overcast day.
Dog: Even though it was threatening to rain, you took me on a longer walk than usual.
Dog: When I looked up at you, you seemed so sad.
Dog: When we got home, you dropped to your knees and hugged me tight.
Dog: I wagged my tail, hoping to cheer you up, but the sorrow never left your face.
Dog: And then, suddenly, tears started falling from your eyes.
Dog: I licked them for you.
Dog: They were salty.
Dog: You stood up and waved your hand.
Dog: I barked in reply.
Dog: And as you slowly turned and walked away, tears began streaming from my eyes as well.
Dog: I licked them, too.
Dog: They were salty.

Girl: Oops, it's already recording!
Girl: Okay, um...
Girl: I'm on my way out to say goodbye to this world.
Girl: I might not make it very far, but even if I only make it one step, so long as time permits me, I want to see this world with my own two eyes.
Girl: I want to leave proof here that I existed in the world.
Girl: So, if there's anybody listening to this, please remember me.
Girl: Remember that I was alive.
Girl: Dang, that was pretty gloomy...
Girl: I should've left it on a more positive note.
Girl: Ack!
Girl: I'm almost out of t-

Unknown: If we worked without ambition, spent our days with time on our tails, never thought we were happy, and will now disappear without leaving any memory, then what...just what...was the point of us?
