Ramble
I have to write this down right now so I’ll do it here. I don’t wanna forget it.
I was asking myself why it’s easier for people/communities/governments to punish/restrict disabled people instead of trying to protect them That lead to the question of why punishing seems to be easier than protecting at all.
And I realized it’s basically...
Protection is an ongoing process. Punishment only happens once per instance. The brain thinks it’s more difficult to protect something because it takes longer than it takes to punish but fails to see it long-term. Punishments happen therefor over and over again, spending the same amount over and over again.. but once you have started a process of protecting something it basically runs by the mechanisms that were set up. It just takes a longer time and contains more trial and error than a punishment does.
I don’t know if this makes sense.
