I suppose an exercise in keeping grounded is to find and remember where your place is. A few years ago, I likely would have said something to the effect of “Honnouji Academy” or “Satsuki’s Side” or something similar.
Rather, my perception on what I consider my “place” is in this vast area of pixels and data has changed considerably in the years I’ve been here; both on Radial Island and [REDACTED]. So many people I used to know have gone, and the few that remained, I’ve had the
So when “home” doesn’t seem in sight, and I feel I’ve strayed so far from where I came from, I need to consider the elements that changed my personal environment for the better.
I’m not good with words. Never had been. I spent my entire life trying not to form bonds too closely, as I was certain either they nor I would live to see them strengthen. I’m sure everyone that knows me at least a bit is aware of how horribly calloused I am, and the wall I’ve formed to protect
Well. It used to be “protect the integrity of the mission.” Emotions always interfered with my work, and that’s why I was never keen on inviting them back. But there is no “mission” here. I have no purpose in this grand expanse. I have no one to serve but myself.
It’s a terrifying prospect, really. I wasn’t raised to be a ‘person.’ A more accurate description of Iori Shirou would be an “incredibly loyal asset capable of investing enough of myself into what--and who--I thought was most important.”
I’m not good with words, and that’s why I’ll choose to show how far I’ve come through what I know how to do best. I don’t think anyone would even understand what they’re for. Frankly, I don’t think they’ll need to. To anyone else, they’re simply elaborate pieces of embroidery.
To me, they’ll be reminders.

( Hi everyone! July marks 4 years Iori (and myself!) have been in this community, and I wanted to do something a little special to commemorate the occasion. So every day (hopefully) I’ll be posting a mandala-esque design featuring the color scheme of the people Iori had met through this time--both friends and enemies (or people who he’s known enough to be of significance.) I tried to place them in the order Iori has met them.
In character, these will be little pieces of embroidery on fabric canvases, hanging in several places in the shop. You’re free to comment on any of them, if you’d like.
I’ll be tagging these as #memory threads, in case you’d like to follow along (or blacklist)
Thank you again for including me in part of your community. It means a lot to me! But more on that at another time <3 )
