“I am so sorry-!” Roslan holds on tight around the metallic jaws of Laika, the artificial pokemon’s body tense and straining towards Hanzo. “I-I have no idea why its like this!” (from @memorydrives)
" KEEEEE-CCH!! " THE LOUD, METALLIC SCREECH of the ULTRA BEAST is ear-piercing, causing even its trainer to flinch as he tried to assess the situation. As soon as Kubo had leaned away to plug his ears, he feels the wind trailing behind HANZO as they fly back toward him, cowering behind his head for cover.
" What the--?! " It's not his first time dealing with FULLS before. Kubo reaches for Hanzo's pokeball, withdrawing it while he had the chance. " You have a SILVALLY and you don't know about its aggression with certain pokemon?! " ULTRA BEASTS, not pokemon. He knew there was a difference but for safety's sake the boy wanted to avoid using the proper term. He stands back, raising his free hand to guard his face, while his shoulders bristle.
“Oh, I don’t mind them. They’re actually pretty amusing sometimes. They get embarrassed quite easily, you know? They get secondhand embarrassment from what I want to do a lot of the time, even though I don’t care in the slightest about it myself. They also complain about me a lot, but they still have fun writing me.”
“I suppose you could call it... a love-hate kind of relationship?”
For @kcrtanaled Kubo, I'd say a pokemon-related food I associate with him is Kentucky Fried Torchic/ Torchic karaage, ngl. My reasons: 1. He has a fiery temper and has the colour scheme of a Fire-type. 2. His hair kinda looks like a Torchic. 3. He baby but has the potential to be really powerful so of course he gets to be a first-stage starter pokemon. 4. Apparently Japan is the 3rd largest consumer of KFC after the US and China / Chicken karaage is a Japanese dish so it suits his heritage.
WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED AFTER YOU DREW KUBO WITH THE TORCHIC IN A TORCHIC COSTUME. This all makes sense though, lets also not forget that it is a tradition for couples to get KFC around Christmas in Japan nowadays. It takes a lot to really anger Kubo but once he’s angry it takes a bit to calm him down. He has quite a temper. And like Torchic, which evolves into one of the most well known fire types, he’s pretty powerful for a kid.
Dulse strided through the forest. The sun was hot, plants were itchy, and everything felt so foreign to him. He was a fish out of water, a stranger on a large, water-covered planet. Just out of his eye- he noticed a purple haired woman in a suit. She had an air of authority to her- so he thought talking to her might prove a fruitful effort.
He walked over. “Ehm, ‘Alola’” he greeted, making a robotic, square-shaped gesture with both his hands. “My name is Dulse, what is yours?”
For Lysandre, my impression of him is someone who comes off as charismatic and high-cultured, intimidating really, but (mostly) a gentle soul who wants to be kind to the people around him. I thought a vegetarian dish that seems indulgent and refined, with effortlessly elegant plating, but one that can also easily be made with everyday ingredients would suit him. So how about Poires Belle Hélène, (As)pears poached in sugar syrup and served with chocolate sauce + vanilla ice cream/Whipped Dream?
From this post -- “a pkmn dish that reminds me of your muse”
// This is just so fabulous. !! Your view of Lysandre and the way you've thoughtfully translated it into this dish... I'm amazed! This is so cool, thank you!
"Hey, do people ride across or fly across?" The teen asked as he leaned against the stone-cut railing, pointing towards the stretch of water that separated the two halves of Sootopolis City. With sloping white rock enclosing the city and the Gym surrounded on all sides by water, Roslan imagined having a pokemon that could swim or fly was a necessity here. "Or do you guys swim instead?"
“Around here, having Surf is a necessity. Most people ride across, but once in a while, you’ll have a swimmer or a flier. It’s real common for people who live here to have all three methods of transport, and I myself usually just surf across. Once in a while though, I do like to go for a swim and stretch my muscles. Not a lot of parents live here, but I chalk that up to not wanting their kids to drown or anything like that. Not that I blame ‘em. Sootopolis is kind of an acquired taste.”
Would Valerie feel anger towards her fae parents for swapping her with a human child? Like, would she see the act as a heinous crime or consider it as them ‘abandoning’ her?
Oh, absolutely.
I’ll go ahead and reveal what exactly is the deal about them, because I likely won’t be getting to them narrative-wise for a long time, so plot spoilers under the cut:
So, they did swap Valerie for the human child: the real Valeria. However, in the typical swap case if the changeling is never exposed, the fae either end the human child’s life or have them grow up being a slave of sorts, living within their court in fairyland forever.
Neither of these things happened with Valeria. Instead, Valerie’s parents...took care of her, after unexpectedly having become so endeared to how innocent she was. They left their court so they could actually raise her, without any of the fae they know intervening. They weren’t particularly close to their court anyway, so it worked out for them. For as long Valerie’s been alive, they’ve been nurturing Valeria as if she was one of their own, somewhere secluded off in fairyland.
Valerie is basically dead to them. Her parents, Tinkerra and Tinselra, only considered her something to be used for their objective. She fulfilled just that, and they pushed her out of their lives afterwards. Granted, neither of them knew that Valerie would be abused by her human mother, but they also haven’t cared enough to go back for her to see how she’s been fairing.
Naturally, when Valerie discovers this, she’ll be heartbroken. Not only did Tinkerra and Tinselra take an innocent child away from her rightful family; they did abandon her, and left her to suffer at the hands of a bitter, grieving woman for a large portion of her life ( a woman who should’ve cared for her as well; nothing will ever justify Cadence’s treatment of Valerie, be she furious by having her real child taken away or not ).
Words can’t describe how distraught and angered Valerie will feel. And rightfully so, I should add. Plot-wise: she’ll have to learn that just because her origin was like this, it doesn’t invalidate her life and how she’s grown into such a good woman who’s loved by many.
