Nothing like being home at my grandmothers house. She is my favorite person in the world. I love her so much and is the most beautiful 85 year old woman's I have ever seen. This house is the only house I remember going to that she lives in since I was a Yound girl. It's been in my family since 1941. Owned by my great grandmother originally on a street in Memphis that was a street that affluent black people resided. My great grandmother owned 9 pieces of real estate. She was a principle in the public school system for 60 years. The street now is on a street infested with inner city crime and drugs. But today on the way to dinner a street guy ran over as we were leaving and greeted my grandmother. He said everyone knows her. We take care of her and don't nobody mess with mama. She smiled and talked to the guy. She said she has known him since he was a little boy. I thought wow!!!! I looked around at the street and saw that it was like her house was the last one standing that really gave this little street something to look up to and be proud of. The grass stays cut and she grows red roses in season outside at her walkway. Although Thea area right across the street resembles any inner city hood movie, my grandmothers house I believe now that everyone on the street looks at and are proud of. My grandmother shared with me that the city wants to put a sign that says it's one of the oldest existing houses in Memphis. #staciijae #Memphisbred #proudday #grandmother #fromthebottomup
