Mendeln and Rathma, Cantankerous-Past.
K - What character has your most favorite development arc/the best development arc
>:D
If we're going in terms of Canon...
Mendeln Ul'Diomed.
He goes from being a scared little nerd who hides behind his brother and sneak-learns how to read just cuz he likes information...
To creating the Priests of Rathma.
His character arc in Book One is especially choice as he is slowly being influenced by Rathma and Trag'Oul, though he doesn't know it. His slow surrender to what they offer is both a little bit horrifying - Rathma literally infests his mind - and deeply interesting. And by the end of the trilogy he's more or less the sole survivor. He takes up the name Kalan because he believes his old life to have died with his brother, and devotes himself wholly to the Balance from there on out.
In terms of stuff I've done?
Well, it's not done yet, but Cantankerous Rathma and Malthael are slowly either becoming the same person, or outright switching places. Rathma started as calm, collected, focused on his goal, but is sliding further and further into becoming a Death Knight, hell bent on slaughtering anything that gets in his way.
Meanwhile Malthael has been forced out of his genocidal goals, and is slowly being forced to become the voice of reason. (Which, of course, was his original function among the Angels. He's going full circle!)
How fucked will it be when Rathma is the one who wants to level a city if it might mean hindering his mother, and Malthael is the only one who can convince him not to?
Some sketches i made while recovering from surgery. First is Rathma and Mendeln in ritual paint that I totally didn't base off black metal bands. Second is Rathma bothering Malthael. And the third is a rudimentary scribble of Auriel asking Malthael about how he feels towards Inarius.

Necromancers in Diablo are members of a sect named the Priests of Rathma. Like many other groups such as the Barbarians of Sescheron or the Druids of Scosglen, the Priests of Rathma were founded by one of the original Nephalem. Rathma, or Linarian, was as brother to Bul-Kathos and Fiacla-Géar and others of the Ancients, the first generation born of the rebel angels and demons. Indeed, of those mighty beings, Linarian was the first born, the son of Inarius and Lilith.

More of this post-D3 AU. A couple of old men argue in an ancient language about some messy shit that happened in the past. The spirit of the Deathspeaker can't help but actually know what they're talking about--and opens his big mouth. My poor acolyte, Sinnath here, is just a bystander.
I drew Rathma in corpse paint because 1) I wanted to. and 2) he's hot in it.
Thanks again for the idea, @necr0-mantix
POV: just a little hater farm boy
It's kinda funny how much Mendeln argues with Rathma in SW.
