Whenever Shawn came home it was with an air of exhaustion. Not that you’d blame him. He had to leave where ever he had been at some ungodly hour then sit in a plane for hours on end while being bombarded with fans throughout the entire process. His flight in tonight was late. Like really late. There had been delays and it was close to 2 am when he finally got his bag from baggage claim in Toronto. So he most definitely was not expecting you to be up when he arrived at his apartment. He hadn’t even texted to say he landed in fear of accidentally waking you up. But when he turned the key and opened the door, to see you typing away at your laptop he froze in the doorway. You turned your head to him, and a smile overtook your tired features as you looked at him. You shut your laptop and walked over to him, straight into his arms, humming as he squeezed you tight against him.
“Why are you still up, pretty girl?” he asked, in a sweet voice, but you could hear how tired he was.
“Why didn’t you text me, rockstar?” you mumbled into his chest.
“Didn’t wanna wake you up,” he rubbed his arm against your back as you stepped back.
“That’s sweet, but I like seeing you walk through that door,” you remind him and he offers a little smile and a nod.
You take a hold of his suitcase and roll it through the door, and pull him a bit closer so you can shut the door. Then you take a hold of his hand and guide him to the bathroom. You leave him in the bathroom and go back to his suitcase rolling it into your shared bedroom. You hear the shower start and ditch the bag. You pull off your sweatshirt, and your sleep shorts, stripping completely before stepping into the shower behind him. His head was under the stream of water eyes closed, he hadn’t noticed you until you hands dropped to his shoulders.
“Turn around, rockstar,” you coo.
You take a minute to examine him, how tired he is, how tense he seems, and with a soft sigh, you pump some shampoo onto your hands, lathering it before reaching for his head.
Shawn is in awe of you, he always has been, but as he watches you take care of him, not because he needed you to, not because he asked you to, but because you wanted to, he feels himself fall even more in love with you. He’s exhausted, and tense and really wants to go to sleep but his body and mind won’t relax enough. When your hands reach up to his head he freezes for a second and then you’re washing his hair, you’re on your tippy toes because he’s taller than you but you don’t stop. Your nails are a bit long and he feels them scrape at his scalp softly, in a way that just feels good. It’s strange in a way, to have someone else wash his hair but your face is just so cute as you do it and it feels so relaxing that he never wants you to stop. You keep going, even after his hair is thick with the lathered up soap, the foam encasing all of his hair. You keep going much longer than it has ever taken him to wash his hair, just because you know how relaxing this is to him.
When you tilt his head back into the water, you do it gently, working the soap out and being careful not to let the sudsy water run into his eyes. Once the soap is gone you gently tilt his head forwards again and squeeze lightly to get rid of the excess water. His hands are on your hips now, rubbing little circles into them as you help him relax and clean up. You get conditioner next and repeat the process of working it into his hair. You spend less time than you did with the shampoo but still more than what was necessary. You have him turn a bit so the water’s hitting your back now when you reach for the body wash. You spend a bit of time just rubbing his body gently, caressing him with the soap. You send Shawn out first before rinsing off yourself. When you walk out to the bedroom you see him on his stomach, head in his hands in just his boxers. You smile softly throwing on a pair of boyshorts and one of his t-shirts. You crawl up and straddle his back, leaning down to press a kiss on each of his shoulder blades, and you hear the deep sigh he lets out. Gently you start to massage his shoulders.
You hadn’t spoken in the shower but just like when you washed his hair he lets out little hums of contentment.
“Just relax, babe,” you tell him softly.
You want him to fall into a state of comfort so he sleeps well, you knew how tense and anxious traveling made him and you didn’t want that to carry over into his sleep. You worked through the knots of his shoulders taking the small noises as a form of praise. One of his hands comes back and he taps your knee making you pause.
“Gonna fall asleep if you keep going,” he told you, tilting his face to speak.
“That’s okay, babe. Go to sleep,” you, press a kiss to his exposed to cheek.
“No, wanna hold you,” he mumbles and you smile with a breathy giggle.
“Okay,” you nod, slipping off of him.
He waits for you to lie back on the bed and then his head is in the crook of your neck, his body weight crushing you but in a comfortable way. His arms circle around you, he presses a few light kisses to your neck and collar bone and your hands return to his hair, rubbing a bit.
“Go to sleep, Shawn,” you mutter.
“Wanna love on you some more,” he tells you, pressing another kiss to your neck and then rubbing his nose gently to your pulse point.
“You need sleep babe, you can do that tomorrow,” you reason, and your heart is clenching at the sight of this boy. This giant boy who’s such a softie.
“Promise?” he asked, pulling back to look into your eyes, and you immediately notice how they’re drooping.
“Promise,” you agree and he presses a gentle kiss to your lips, displaying his love before shifting so your head was on his chest and one of his arms went under your head while one of yours went over abdomen. He kissed your forehead and the two of you fell asleep.
You woke up first, which was not a surprise, so as carefully as you could, you slipped out of the bed. You brushed your teeth and grabbed your book before heading out of the room. You make your self a cup of tea and a piece of toast. You settle on the sofa, catching the time, 7 am. You eat and read and drink your tea out on the sofa, with a blanket draped over your legs, keeping you comfy. When Shawn came out an hour and a half later his curls were all over the place and he had thrown on his UNLV sweatshirt. He came straight over to you and when you looked up from your book he kissed you slow and deep. A kiss that made your heart brim with love for the person in front of you. He tasted minty which told you he had also brushed his teeth and when he pulled back he pressed a few more kisses to your face. A peck to your lips, your nose, your cheeks, and your forehead, all of which had you giggling.
“Wanna love on you,” he tells you, repeating his sentiments from last night and you nod, slipping your bookmark in place.
“Okay, bubs, I want that too,” you smile softly, setting the book off to the side.
He gives you a goofy grin and pulls your blanket up for a second setting himself down; his head on your stomach and his body extending between your legs. With some help, he situates the blanket over the both of you and one of your hands intwines itself with his. You give it a little squeeze and he kisses your stomach, making you smile down at him. His other hand holds your hip and yours drops to his hair, his eyes closed and he just presses little kisses to your stomach and entwined hands.
“Missed you so much, pretty girl,” he tells you, bringing your hand to his lips and kissing gently on your knuckles, and your brush your other hand through his hair, moving the curls back a bit to see into his eyes.
“I missed you a lot too, rockstar,” you admit, biting your bottom lip and he gives you a big smile at the nickname.
He bends back on his knees a bit and hovers closer, the hand that had been on your hip caresses the side of your face tucking a few strands of your hair behind your ear, “I love you, so fucking much,” he tells you.
It didn’t matter how many times he had said those exact words to you, every single time he did it made you so full of love, so full of him, so full of this inexplicable feeling of wanting to be in that moment forever that you would always give him the most blinding smile, and he loved that smile.
“I love you too, Shawn. More than anything,” you promised and he kissed you again.
When you pulled back he dropped his head back on your stomach and the two of you laid there. The morning sun shining through the window casting a warm glow over the two of you. His eyes looking almost like honey and curls bouncing fluffily with each gentle pass of your hand.
Request: Could you do an imagine of mob!Shawn and the reader just had a baby. he was in a meeting and she was kinda scared to bring the baby into a room full of mobsters but she did anyway. as soon as she did he went full dad!tom mode and his men were like “wtf”
A/N: I love this concept but I might need to make a part 2...

If Shawn had any other job you’d go into his meeting room right now. But the fact that there were a bunch of mobsters in that room made you a bit unsure if your baby could handle it. She was only a year old... but since there had been so much shouting Valerie had started to worry about her dad.
She wouldn’t stop crying until you went near the door, then her eyes would lit up and her arms stretched out. With a big sigh you opened the door and saw Shawn’s worried eyes meet yours immediately. It was like he was asking you “Is everything okay? Has something happened?”
“Dada!”, Valerie exclaimed with a giggle.
“If you’ll excuse me...”, Shawn turned away from the much older men and got up from his chair.
“What’s wrong?”, he asked you as he took Valerie in his arms.
“She heard the shouting. I think she got a bit worried about you...”, you smiled and stroke away a couple curls from Valerie’s face.
“Shi-”
You gave him a stern look, causing him to drag out the swear word and ending it on “shoot”.
“I can’t keep her in here, darling. You know that...”, Shawn sighed and handed Valerie back to you.
“I know... can you just keep it down?”, you pleaded.
“No problem.”, another man answered in Shawn’s place, it was the oldest man at the table, “We’re almost done.”
The mobster gave you a tight lipped smile and you thanked him. Who knew mobsters could be nice without wanting something in return?
Everyone else in the room stared in shock at Shawn. Just a couple minutes ago he had been shouting and talking in a stern and cold tone, drinking a glass of whiskey that still stood by his chair. Now he was speaking softly, as if he didn’t want to break the tiny human with his voice.
“Thank you.”, Shawn nodded and went back to his chair.
Which was your sign to go out of the door and try to get Valerie to sleep or take her mind of what had just happened. But you were glad you were standing close enough to the door to hear what he said next.
“If anyone even fucking thinks of laying a finger on my wife or my daughter, I’ll personally strangle you.”, Shawn muttered, “Do I make myself clear?”
He was always a bit over the top when it came to your protection, and certainly when it came to Valerie’s, but threatening a bunch of mobsters wasn’t a daily thing. And it might lead to consequences...
Request: Hello! can you do bad boy shawn x reader where they have a love-hate relationship (like bickering and stuff but no sex) and then they have to share a room on a school trip and shawn starts hinting that maybe they should have sex and the reader reveals that she has never done it before and is like "I'm not having my first time with you". you can choose how it ends! thank you 💕
A/N: I loved this request! Sorry for getting it out so late!

“Are you even allowed to do this? Aren’t we supposed to stay in different dorms?”, you sighed.
“I know, but we have a big class and we didn’t all fit into the dorms. You’ll be staying in the cabin over there.”, you used-to-be favorite teacher pointed out a tiny house beside the big one that you were supposed to sleep in, “And I chose you because then I knew that there wouldn’t be anything going on.”
“Whatever, I’m gonna go in and pick a bed...”, Shawn sighed and started walking over to the cabin.
“It’s only for 5 days, Y/L/N. If I know you right, you’ll handle it.”, the teacher smiled and then walked to the dorms where the other students would be sleeping.
You looked over the cabin, the door was wide open... he couldn’t even close the door?
There was a time when Shawn Mendes used to be your best friend. That was before high school, he was nicer then... then in high school he got new friends. “Friends”. You tried to tell him that they weren’t good for him, but he wouldn’t listen.
“When you walked into the cabin you saw Shawn’s bag on one of the beds, the one pressed against the left wall. With a sigh you threw your bag on the bed that was on the right side of the room.
“We have one bathroom, so we’re gonna have to make a showering schedule.”, Shawn said as he walked out of, what you presumed was, the bathroom.
“Great, I’ll shower at night.”, you said in a plain tone.
“Wait, why do I have to shower in the morning?”, he furrowed his eyebrows together.
“You picked a bed, I’ll pick when I want to shower.”, you stated and sat down on your bed.
“Or we can shower together?”, he grinned.
“Are you kidding me? Is this what I have to deal with for 5 days?”, you groaned.
“What? We did it when we were kids.”, he chuckled and sat down on the bed.
“We were three. Things have changed...”, you muttered out the last part, you really didn’t want to talk about how your body had changed through the years...
Luckily he didn’t say anything else.
The area your class had gone to was amazing. If it wasn’t for your roommate, you’d have a good time. You were surrounded by forest and a river ran down right by the place you were staying in.
So instead of moping about your roommate, you decided to go to the lake with your real friends.
Like most of the other students, you spent the day there with your friends by the lake.
“I heard some people were thinking of sneaking out and skinny dipping tonight.”, Hannah said with a grin, “You going?”
“No way!”, Julie exclaimed, “Besides, they have people keeping watch in the corridor so that no one can get out.”
“I agree with Julie...”, Willow nodded.
“You’re no fun...”, Hannah sighed, but then her eyes lit up, “But you could Y/N. You’re not in our building, so you could go.”
“Go skinny dipping by myself? Don’t think so.”, you chuckled, “What if I drowned? You couldn’t hear me up to the dorms.”
“Shawn could go with you.”, Julie grinned and nudge you in the side with her elbow.
“Why would I want to go skinny dipping with him?”, you put your middle and index finger by your mouth and pretended to puke.
“C’mon! he’s fucking hot, Y/N, you can’t deny that!”, Hannah said as she looked over at Shawn and his friends, “Besides, you two used to be friends.”
“One: he’s not hot. And two: our friendship ended years ago.”, you explained to your friends.
“Y/N, I like girls and even I can agree that Shawn Mendes is hot.”, Willow laughed along with Julie and Hannah.
“Whatever. It’s not going to happen anyways!”, you sighed.
After eating dinner you walked begrudgingly back to your cabin. The lights were off so you guessed no one was home. But when you got closer you started hearing panting and quiet moans coming from the house.
You knew that you should’ve walked away by then, but you didn’t really have a choice. You opened the door without thinking much of it.
Shawn was laying on top of a half naked girl, that you recognized from your class, leaving hickeys all over her neck.
“What the fuck are you doing!?”, you screamed.
They jumped away from each other and the girl scurried away after she had gathered all of her clothes. She glared at you before she walked off.
“What’s your fucking problem?”, Shawn groaned.
“I don’t know if you understand what sharing a room means, but I live here too!”, you shouted, “And put some fucking clothes on!”, you turned away from him.
“What? You act like you’ve never seen-”
“Just shut up!”
“Wait... you’ve never... have you?”, he scoffed.
“So what? At least I don’t go around putting my dick in every single girl I see!”, you huffed.
“You know, if you haven’t, then I could-”
“No way. I’m not having my first time with you.”, you shook your head, “Why would you even think that?”
You grabbed your bag and walked to the bathroom.
“Don’t go bringing in another one of your victims while I’m showering.”, you closed the door harshly.
The next morning you woke up around 7:30am. You looked over to Shawn’s bed to see that he wasn’t there. Maybe he was showering? Then again, you couldn’t hear any water running.
You were a bit rude to him last night... maybe you should find him and apologies...
With lazy steps you walked out the cabin and looked around. There he was, sitting on one of the rocks by the lake.
“You know there’s a higher chance of slipping into the water if you’re on a rock than grass.”, you said to him as you walked over.
“Why would you care? Then I couldn’t get any more victims.”, his word stung in a way you wouldn’t imagine something he had said could.
“Listen, I’m sorry about yesterday... I was tired and... I’ll admit that I wasn’t to happy with the housing... but I shouldn’t have taken that out on you.”, you sat down next to him.
“Glad that we could agree on one thing.”, Shawn huffed.
You sighed and looked as the water flowed down the river in a steady stream. How could the teachers call this dangerous? I was so calm...
“What happened to us?”, you thought out loud, “We used to be best friends... did we really just grow away from each other?”
Shawn didn’t answer, instead he just fiddled with the hem of his shirt. Maybe you shouldn’t have said that... but then, in the corner of your eye, Shawn’s face lit up.
“Remember that time when you asked out that Joshua guy... and then when he rejected you, you made me watch chick-flix with you?”, he chuckled.
“I’m gonna remember that until I die...”, you groaned, “But you’re no better. Remember Susanne?”
“Oh, don’t bring up my sweet Susanne!”, Shawn said in an over-dramatic tone which made you laugh.
You sat there bickering about the past for a while until your classmates started pouring out the doors of the dorms. You and Shawn went separate ways for the day but the two of you kept sneaking glances when you thought the other wasn’t looking.
After eating dinner you walked over with happy steps to your cabin. This time there weren’t someone fucking in there, so you didn’t have to ruin someone’s moment.
“Already back?”, Shawn asked from his bed where he was scrolling through his phone.
“Well, I might just be planning to do something.”, you grinned.
“What?”, Shawn sat up, suddenly intrigued.
“Do you wanna go skinny dipping?”, you asked with a laugh.
You swore his face turned beet red as you said that, but maybe it was the lighting.
“Are you drunk?”, he chuckled nervously.
“Nope! I’m as sober as ever. You didn’t answer my question, by the way.”, you smiled at him as you held your hand on the doorknob.
“Sure...”
“When you said skinny dipping I thought you meant we’d be taking our clothes off.”, Shawn said.
“I am! I’m just testing the water.”, you said as you put your toes in the freezing water, “It’s fucking freezing... maybe this was a bad idea.”
“No, you brought me out here. We’re doing this now.”, he chuckled as he took his shirt and pants off.
Your confidence wore off, but you shook it off.
It’s dark, he won’t see you.
You took your pants and shirt off before hurrying to the water in only your underwear.
“You know that you’re supposed to be naked when you’re skinny dipping.”, Shawn grinned, now standing in only his underwear too.
“Well, I don’t want to see you naked, I just wanted to swim for a bit.”, you said as you started swimming out.
“Fine...”, he laughed and walked into the water with his underwear on, “Fuck, you were right... it’s fucking freezing...”
“It’s not so bad once you’re in!”, you laughed and swam further out.
“Y/N, maybe you shouldn’t go so far out...”, Shawn warned you.
“What? Don’t you think I can swim?”, you questioned with a laugh.
“No, the stream is picking up and-”
He didn’t have much time to speak before you were pulled underwater by the waves. Panic started taking over your brain and you started kicking and screaming every time you reached the surface. You knew that no one from the dorms could hear you... it was useless...
Just as you thought everything was over, two strong arms wrapped around you and pulled you up. The shock started kicking in and your breathing quickened.
“Hey, you’re okay... you’re alright, I’m here.”, Shawn pulled you up to his chest.
It was the last thing you heard before you passed out.
You woke up again in your room. Why were you back home?
“Oh honey, you’re awake.”, you mom walked into your room.
“Mom...”, you sat up in bed, “Why am I back home? What about the trip?”
“Honey, you hit your head. You couldn’t stay there when you were hurt. You’re lucky enough that that Mendes kid saved you.”, she sighed, “This isn’t like you, Y/N. I’m not gonna punish you for this, I know that you’re going through things with your body...”
“Mom-”
“And there might be feelings that-”
“Mom, no-”
“That are blooming. Feelings for people... and you might want to impress them, so I understand that-”
“Mom, please! Can we not have this talk right now?”, you groaned.
“Alright, alright...”, your mom laughed, “Just get some rest, honey.”
She pressed a kiss to your forehead before leaving your room to let you rest.
Just when you were about to lay back down, there was a knock at your window. You looked over there with wide eyes.
“Shawn?”, you whispered.
He mouthed “open the window” with a strained expression and you quickly got out of bed and opened your window. Shawn tumbled in and stumbled over some of your things, grabbing at the closest thing he could to stable himself... which was you. The thing was, you hadn’t stood up in a while and you weren’t really ready for extra weight on you.
Shawn ended up falling over you, his right knee landed between your legs and his elbows were right next to your head.
“Ow...”, you muttered.
“Everything alright, sweetie!? What’s going on up there!?”, your mom called from downstairs.
“Yeah, everything’s fine mom!”, you yelled back quickly.
Shawn stared at you with wide eyes, his face was terribly close to yours.
“Can you get up?”, you hissed at him.
“Uh... yeah, sorry...”, he muttered and got off of you.
You carefully got up and closed the door. As you calmed your breathing down you walked over to the bed and sat down.
“Are those the same pajama pants you borrowed from me when you were 13?”, he chuckled.
“What are you doing here?”, you ignored his question.
“I wanted to visit you, make sure you were okay...”, he muttered.
There was an awkward pause of silence, so you patted for him to sit down beside you on the bed. He got up and sat down.
“Thanks...”, you said quietly, “For coming, for saving me... I’ve been such a piece of shit to you and you-”
“Don’t.”, Shawn stopped you, “You don’t need to apologies... I was being kind of an asshole too.”
“Then... can we just agree that we’re both sorry? So that maybe we could start over?”, you suggested and Shawn nodded.
You shuffled closer to him and leaned your head on your shoulder.
“I missed you...”, you sighed, “Like... y’know, the way we used to hang out...”
“Yeah... I get it...”, he nodded, “I missed you too.”

Your show was amazing and I’d like to hire you. Come to my place, anytime.
You read the note out loud to your friend Annie once again.
“Y/N, I know you probably don’t wanna go... but you basically have to if it’s really Shawn Mendes who wrote that note.”, she took a drag of her cigarette.
“Argh... I know. Butt me.”, you held out your hand and Annie put the cigarette in it.
“I thought you stopped smoking.”, she said nonchalantly.
“If I’m supposed to work at an egg’s house than I ain’t stopping anytime soon.”, you sigh, letting the smoke out of your mouth.
“Well, you better get a wiggle on.”, she laughed, “Don’t wanna be seen as a dewdropper, do ya?”
“You’ll come with me the night of the gig, right?”, you got up from Annie’s bed.
“Just tell me when and where, alright?”, she smiled.
“You’re the best, Annie.”, you sighed and got out of the tiny apartment.
As you walked down the street where Shawn’s house was supposed to be the houses started getting bigger and bigger.
At the end of the street there was a round-about, behind it was the biggest house you had ever seen in person.
That must be the place... you figured and waltzed over the big mansion.
As you stood by the door you realized that you had no idea what to say. So you gripped the note tightly and knocked on the door, hoping for the best.
“Yes?”, a blond man opened the door.
You hadn’t seen him before, but you guess it was one of Shawn’s men.
“I...”, you really didn’t know what to say, so you simply handed him the note.
The man sighed as soon as he had read the note. He mumbled something under his breath and then looked back up at you with a strained smile.
“You must be Ms. Y/L/N, huh?”, he chuckled, “If you’ll just follow me right in here...”
The man led you into a big living room, with an enormous fire place and a long couch, which had a coffee table in front of it.
“You can sit down here and I’ll get Mr. Mendes down in a minute. Meanwhile... Marilyn, could you get Ms. Y/LN some tea?”, he turned to the maid in the room, who quickly nodded and hurried out the room.
You sat down and put one feet over the other to sit crosslegged. Something about sitting like that made you feel more secure. With your hands in your lap you waited patiently.
Who would want to work here? Although, it’s probably not her choice... do you even have a choice?
You didn’t get much thinking time before the maid put a silver tray on the table in front of you. White porcelain clinked as she poured up a cup of tea for you.
“Sugar?”, she asked sweetly.
“No, thank you.”, you smiled the best you could, your nerves getting the best of you.
“Alright... if you need anything else, just call.”, she smiled and walked out of the room.
You took a sip of the tea... the taste of milk was somehow weird to you now. Maybe because you hadn’t been drinking it since you were little. Or maybe it was because you were nervous.
You looked around the room. There was a spiral staircase, decorated with a black squiggly pattern for the railing. The stairs itself were marble, something you had never really seen, except if you were singing at a slightly more fancy bar than usual.
The stairs led up to a small corridor with rooms every 9 feet or so. In the ceiling dangled a big glass chandelier, the crystals were shimmering in the light.
Behind you were tall windows, that looked out over the front yard.
When the door opened to one of the rooms upstairs your eyes fixated on Shawn. He was wearing black trousers along with the white button up, which he was fixing the sleeves of.
You didn’t know if you should look at him or not, so you decided to look down in your cup.
Once you felt his presence beside you, you stood up and looked up at him. He had a slight, but warm, smile on his lips.
“Welcome to my home.”, he said calmly, “I hope Brian took well care of you.”
You nodded which led him to holding back a chuckle.
“Not so talkative today, eh?”
“I’m here to do business, sir. I didn’t come here for small talk.”, you couldn’t believe what you were saying, he was for sure going to put a bullet in your brain now.
Shawn was slightly taken aback but his smile didn’t falter.
“Alright, let’s go to my office then.”, he said, walking you to one of the many rooms upstairs.
Even his office was glamorous, with a big dark oak desk along with a leather chair behind it.
Shawn pulled out a velvet chair for you to sit on in front of his desk. As you sat down, he walked around the table and sat down in his leather desk.
“You wanted to hire me?”, you asked and was about to add “For singing I hope” but decided against it.
“Yes, I need a performer for my next event. I’ll be holding it here in just a couple days.”, he started, “I’d love for you to perform. My workers will help you with clothes and make-up, anything you’d like. You won’t have to bring anything, except your voice.”
“Well, I need to see if I can make it. I have a schedule, y’know?”, you said calmly.
That was a lie.
“Alright, I’ll hand you an invitation now. Come an hour earlier for preparations and if you don’t come, then I’ll have to find someone else.”, Shawn said, handing you a card.
It was written in cursive, with golden ink. If you held up the card against his eyes, you’d be sure that his eyes really were golden. Of course, you didn’t do it... but you couldn’t deny wanting to.
“Could I bring a friend? I can’t sing forever and I’d want someone to keep me company in between sets.”, you said nervously.
“And I couldn’t keep you company?”, Shawn rested his elbows against the table, his gaze burning into you.
“Well, I-...”
“Don’t tell me you’re scared of me...”, he grinned.
“I am not.”, you said harshly.
That was also a lie.
“Alright...”, Shawn chuckled as he handed you another card, “You can bring a friend. As long as it’s not a man.”
You looked at him with furrowed eyebrows. What did he mean by this? You didn’t have time to ask before he took up and helped you to the door.
As you were about to walk out the door, he grabbed your shoulder and leaned down to your ear.
“I’m hoping to see you again, Y/N.”, he whispered in your ear before before letting you go and closing the door behind you.
What had you gotten yourself into?

Request: Okay, so I just saw the lion king again, yep it was my second time, and I was thinking about something like y/n go see it with Shawn and your son and he starts crying on the sad part of it, just lots of fluffy, Love all your writings by the way :) (from: @emma-manuhpe)
A/N: I haven’t written for dad!Shawn in a while (except for Two Sides of the coin but that’s different). Anyways, I haven’t seen the live-action of Lion King so I took most of my knowledge from the animated version.
Warnings: the sad parts in lion king

You sat comfortably in the cinema chair, Shawn’s arm wrapped around your shoulders. Your son, Eli, sat in between you with a gleeful expression. It was his first time seeing the Lion King.
Both you and Shawn had, of course, seen the animated one but Eli would be seeing it for the first time. To be honest, you were quite excited yourself since it was your favorite film growing up.
Though you were a bit nervous for him to see the very scarring scene, when Mufasa died. Since it was the live action, you wondered how much worse it would be.
When the dreaded moment came you looked over at Eli with worried eyes. His eyes were wide open and his mouth was slightly open in shock. You lovingly put your arm around his shoulders and pressed a kiss to his temple.
Eli sniffled slightly and you could tell he was holding tears back. It made your heart hurt to see it.
“It’s okay to cry, bubba.”, you whispered to your son.
He nodded, not breaking his gaze away from the film. Shawn took his hand away from your shoulder to Eli’s hair to ruffle his hair, before pressing a kiss to his forehead.
“You alright?”, he asked and Eli nodded again.
After the movie you looked over to see him sniffling and drying away his tears.
“Awe, honey... are you okay?”, you took your son’s hand.
“Uh-huh... ‘m okay, momma.”, Eli nodded.
“C’mon, L.”, Shawn said and lifted him up, “Wanna go get some ice cream?”
“Ice cream?”, Eli’s eyes lit up which made Shawn chuckle.
“Ice cream?”, you quirked an eyebrow an crossed your arms over your chest.
“I think we deserve some ice cream after this.”, Shawn grinned at you.
“Please, mom?”, Eli gave you puppy eyes.
Shawn only made it worse by copying Eli’s puppy eyes and pouting slightly. Looking at them like this, it reminded you of how much Eli looked like Shawn.
“Fine...”, you smiled, “Let’s go get ice cream!”

The day of the performance. You were more nervous about it than any other performance. Maybe it was because of how Shawn had acted the day you had that meeting about the whole ordeal.
“I’m hoping to see you again, Y/N.”
His sultry tone of voice sent shivers down your spine by just thinking of it. It felt like a dream by now, but you knew it wasn’t.
Annie was asking you about what dress to wear but you couldn’t focus at all. You could barely hear what she was saying, to deep in your own thoughts.
“Aren’t you gonna get ready?”, she asked, looking at you through the mirror.
“No... I um... I get clothes over there.”, you muttered, still deep in thought.
“Oh, so he’s your sugar daddy now?”, she snorted.
“Annie! This is a one time gig!”, you threw a pillow at her.
“Whatever, I think he’s head over heels for you.”, she smiled as she put on her velvet purple, “And when he sees you all dolled up, then God damn!”
“You’re insane sometimes, Annie. You know that, right?”, you chuckled.
“Of course I do!”, she smiled brightly before going back to her make up.
The mansion seemed to be even bigger, but maybe it was the sunset setting in the background that did it. It had to be around 10pm, the party didn’t start until 11.
You barely knocked on the door before someone opened. It was the maid Marilyn. A bright, and relieved, smile appeared on her lips. Now that you looked closer at her she seemed to be so much younger than you thought she was, even younger than you perhaps.
“Ms. Y/L/N, thank God you’re here.”, she said and let you in.
“Is everything okay?”, you asked as Anne followed you close behind, in complete awe over the mansion.
“Yes, everything is ready. Mr. Mendes just wasn’t sure if you were coming.”, she said politely, “But I’ll get you ready as soon as possible.”
Marilyn brought you to a seperate room, it was smaller than Shawn’s office. She brought out a velvet red dress. The straps were thin, that led down to a v-shaped neckline and the skirt flowed far down.
“Mr. Mendes handpicked it himself. He thought it would look good on you.”, Marilyn smiled obliviously, but you could feel Anne staring at you with knowing eyes.
But you didn’t give into her stare and simply nodded to Marilyn.
“Thank you, it’s gorgeous.”, you smiled.
You had never seen something like it... and you thought that was it, but then she brought out the accessories.
The black heels matched the black fluffy scarf, while the golden jewelry gave a nice accent to the dress.
“Could you do the make up by yourself, or do you need any help?”, Marilyn asked sweetly.
“I think I’m good. Thank you, honey.”, you said with a smile.
“Then I’ll leave you be. Call if you need anything.”, Marilyn bowed slightly before walking out, closing the door behind her.
“You’re being treated like a damn queen, Y/N.”, Anne laughed as she looked over the make up, “I mean, look at all of this!”
“I don’t even know what half of this is... can you help me?”, you sigh.
Anne had been in the make up industry for a while, so you knew she would know what to do.
“Of course, just tell me what you’re going for.”, she grinned.
You put on the dress before she started on your make up. It fit like a glove... sometimes it was scary how well Shawn knew you, even though you had barely talked.
While Anne fixed your make up you put on the jewelry. There were a couple necklaces, a couple bracelets and a pair of dangly earrings. You put up your hair to show them off, though you were sure that no one was going to be looking at your earrings.
Your hair sat tightly to the back of your head, only a couple pieces falling out in the front.
“And for the final touch!”, Anne picked up a red lipstick along with a sleek brush.
She gently patted the color on your lips, not letting your lips get completely red, just slightly tinting them.
There was a sharp knock at the door and Anne said “Come in” out of pure habit. You saw her eyes widen as you heard the door open. That had to be Shawn then...
“Are you ready, Y/N?”, his sweet voice calmed your nerves for some reason.
You stood up, turning around to face him. It looked like all of his flirty words had gotten caught in his throat, and you were enjoying every second of it.
“I am.”, you smiled slightly.
“Great... I’ll lead you out then, so you can get to know the band.”, he cleared his throat, “And your... um... your friend could follow.”
You followed Shawn out the room and could already hear the band practicing. They sounded professional, which only made you more nervous.
The room where the junket would be held was huge. You thought the living room was big, but this was insane. There were two floors; when you first walk in there’s a big room with a bunch of round tables with chairs around them and a stage at the very end of the room. That’s where the band was currently practicing.
The second floor could be reached by the marble stairs that were on either side of the room when you first walk in.
In the ceiling was an enormous crystal crown, with lit candles in it. You had never seen anything so beautiful.
“There’s a balcony upstairs if you need some fresh air between sets, along with bathrooms and other things like that.”, Shawn said, “Think you’ll be okay?”
“Yeah, I think so.”, you nodded, “I should go practice then, I suppose...”
“Go ahead, I’ll be welcoming the guests soon.”, Shawn said and walked out of the big room.
“Holy shit...”, Anne whispered in awe as she looked around.
After practicing for all the songs you were performing tonight, you got behind the curtains just as people started pouring in. Women in beautiful dresses and men in sharp suits.
When the mutters died down you watched as Shawn walked out on stage. He talked for a while, made the audience laugh and showed off his charisma like crazy. In the end of his speech he introduced you, which was the queue for you to walk out.
There were applause and you felt like you were meant to be on stage for the first time in a really long while.
“Thank you Mr. Mendes.”, you said sweetly into the mic, looking over at Shawn.
You counted down for the band to start and when it started a bright smile shined on your face. This was what you wanted when you said you wanted to be a singer. Not bad bars and disgusting men touching you inappropriately, a big fancy room with people who cared about your voice and not your body.
The tables had been pushed to the sides to create a dance floor and you watched with glee as people danced around to the music you and the band was creating.
You saw Shawn standing off to the side, looking at you. Why wasn’t he dancing? Surely some girl would want to dance with the Shawn Mendes.
The next song was a slow, sensual song. You moved your arms around, letting the fluffy feathery texture of the scarf glide over your arms.
As your eyes locked with Shawn’s a slight smirk appeared on your lips and you felt dangerous.
When the song ended you let the applause die down before you talked.
“Thank you! I’ll be right back after this next gig!”, you smiled and walked off stage.
Anne ran up to you, telling you how amazing you had been and about the man she had been dancing with, genuinely anything she could talk about.
And that’s how the night went, except for the last song. You only had 3 gigs during the night, 6 songs in total. So after the last song you were supposed to leave. But you couldn’t find Anne anywhere. You supposed she was still on the dance floor as the next song started playing.
The adrenaline in your body slowly disappeared and you started feeling the nerves again. Where were you supposed to go?
“Are you alright?”, a strangers voice asked.
You turned around to see a young man standing in front of you.
“Yeah, I just need to find my friend...”, you said politely.
“Oh, okay... I just wanted to say that you were amazing up there.”, he smiled, “Really, it was like you were glowing up there.”
“Well, the lights do a lot of the work.”, you joked, “But thank you.”
“No problem, I-”
“Hey, Y/N.”, Shawn walked up to you, “I need to speak with you.”
“Um... I’ll just leave you two be.”, the guy quickly walked away.
“What is it?”, you sighed.
“Just.... follow me...”, he sighed, taking your hand and leading you through the room.
He led you up the stairs and out to the balcony. You hadn’t realized you needed fresh air because of the adrenaline, but now it felt amazing.
“What did you need to talk to about?”, you asked and watched as he put his glass of red wine on the balcony.
“You just looked like you needed some fresh air...”, he said and you could tell he was lying.
“Really? Because I was feeling pretty alright talking to that guy.”, you walked up next to him.
He stared at you for a while, until you were the first to break eye contact. You rested your hands against the balcony and looked out.
“I wanted to tell you earlier but... you look beautiful tonight.”, he said softly.
“You picked it out, didn’t you?”, you muttered.
“I just picked something similar to the night we met.”, he said carelessly but you felt your heart started beating faster.
You felt his hand come up to your face to brush away a piece of hair. But your past experiences with that had ended badly so your instincts kicked in, making you quickly turn around to face him. Your hand hit the wine glass, making it hit the floor and spilling it’s contents on Shawn’s white button up shirt.
“I’m so sorry...”, you whispered, asking God to forgive all of your sins because clearly he was going to kill you now...
“No it’s alright, my bedroom’s around the corner... I’ll just go and change.”, he said calmly.
What?
“You’re not mad?”, your breathing steadied.
“It’s just a shirt. Nothing to worry about.”, he shrugged, “I’ll be right back.”
With that, he walked into the house again and a sigh escaped your lips. Then you realized what you had done... he was just trying to push a strand of hair out of your face, why would you think he would do something. If anything he’s the last guy who would do something like that to you, from what you know about him.
You felt your feet slowly start to move to the entrance of the house and looking around. Which way did you see Shawn go? And why did you feel the need to apologies to him?
Maybe it was the drinks you had been given in between gigs from random strangers. That was probably why your head was a bit foggy.
You stumbled over to one of the rooms, the door was slightly open... just enough for you to peak through. You knew it was wrong but you watched as the button up slid off his arms and landed on the floor. His body was like a chiseled greek statue and suddenly you didn’t feel bad for watching.
“Hasn’t anyone ever told you it’s rude to stare?”, Shawn’s voice was deeper, with a slight rasp to it.
“I just wanted to say I’m sorry-”
You only walked in a couple steps before he pressed you up against the wall.
“Shut your pretty mouth up for once.”, he muttered.
“Make me.”, you whispered hoarsely.
He pressed his lips to yours in a heated passionate kiss. Shawn kicked the door shut before he started leading you into the room. You stopped the kiss as he was about to slip off the straps of your dress.
“What about Anne?”, you panted.
“My driver gave her a ride home.”, he said as he planted kisses along your neck.
“So you planned this then?”, you chuckled breathily.
“A bit last minute, but yeah.”, he grinned before he kissed your lips again.
Somewhere along the night your dress came off along with his clothes, but the alcohol made your memory hazy.
By the morning you didn’t remember much. All you knew was that you were laying naked next to a dangerous mob boss in his bed. You tried to escape but his arms were tightly wrapped around you and your throbbing head didn’t help...
But as you tried to get up he mumbled something...
“Please stay.”, Shawn pressed his forehead to your back.
You realized that he wasn’t a dangerous mobster right now. In this moment he was just a man like any other, trying to be vulnerable with you.
As careful as you could, you turned around to face him. His eyes were slightly open because of the sun being in his eyes, which only made his honey brown eyes glow even more.
You took his face in your hands, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead, before hugging him closer to you.
“I’ll stay...”, you whispered.
This was a bad idea.

The sun peaked through the window... Shawn really had to put in blinds or else you were going to do it. Nevertheless, you opened your eyes to see Shawn sleeping soundly in front of you. He always picked the right side of the bed, wherever you were.
You softly brush away the curls that had fallen over his forehead. His nose scrunches slightly when your hand leaves his face and he moved closer to you. A chuckle escaped your lips as you combed your fingers through your hair. Shawn sighed as his eyes fluttered open.
“Did I wake you?”, you muttered quietly.
“Yeah, but it’s fine...”, he smiled, “Happy anniversary.”
“Wow, you actually remembered.”, you joked.
“Babe, it’s our three year anniversary. Why wouldn’t I remember?”, he chuckled.
“Because I usually have to remind you of them.”, you smiled, pressing a quick kiss to your lips, “But thank you for remembering.”
“Of course, sweetheart...”, he smiled.
You cuddled up against his chest for a while, listening to his heartbeat and soft breaths. Shawn leaned into your touch as you played with his hair. And then you remembered his present.
“Wait! I have a present for you!”, you grinned and quickly got out of the bed, leaving Shawn complaining behind you.
When you walked back in you held the silk robe tighter around you to cover up the baby pink lacy set you had underneath. You sat down on the bed again and handed him a black box with a red ribbon tied in a bow around it.
“Y/N, darling...”, Shawn sighed with a smile painted on his lips, “You know you don’t have to get me anything.”
“I wanted to.”, you smiled excitedly as he opened it.
He opened the box slowly to reveal a necklace with a ring hanging from it. You encouraged him to look closer at the ring and so it did.
“Is that... when we first got together?”, he asked as he looked closer at the date inside the ring.
“Mhm...”, you grinned as you slid the silk robe off of your arms while Shawn .
“Y/N...”, he smiled and tried to say something but was left speechless by what he saw in front of him.
“Happy three years.”, you smiled at him.
Shawn carefully put the box on his bedside table before turning back to you.
“C’mere...”, he grinned, making grabby hands towards you.
While the two of you were making breakfast, newly showered, Shawn wrapped his arms around your waist and leaned his head on your shoulder. His soft curls tickled your cheek, making you chuckle slightly.
“Do you have any surprises today or can I spoil you for the rest of the day?”, he smiled, placing small kisses to your jaw and the crook of your neck.
“I don’t have anything else planned, not that I could think of.”, you pondered for a while, “Nope, nothing else. Did you have something you wanted to do?”
“Well, I was thinking of making you dinner...”, he chuckled, “But then I got a better idea.”
“Oh? And what’s that?”, you smiled.
“It’s a surprise, sweetheart.”, he kissed your cheek one more time before letting you go, “But I would suggest you pack a bag.”
“What? Shawn, you haven’t-”
“Shh... just do it, okay?”, he smiled and pushed you towards the bedroom, “I’ll make you breakfast, just go and pack!”
“I don’t even know what to pack!”, you laughed breathily.
“Pack some of the sun-dresses that you look so pretty in.”, he smiled, “Or anything that you’d wear here, I guess. We’ll be staying there for a week, so pack enough for that.”
“A week!?”, you squeaked, “Shawn, I only got today off from work!”
“Don’t worry! I arranged it, now get packing! We don’t have all day.”
Once you had packed a bag with things you needed for a week Shawn helped you get it into his Jeep.
“So where are we going?”, you tried again.
“You’ll see! Just wait, eh?”, he grinned and opened the car door for you.
“Fine...”, you sigh and get in the car.
You drive in silence, letting the radio softly play in the background as you watched the landscape change as you drove by.
But then you saw the airport in the distance. You thought “Oh, he’s gonna drive past it”, but you were oh so wrong.
Shawn drove into the parking lot of the airport and helped you get the bags out.
“Seriously, where are we going?”, you looked at the airport, “Shawn, I gave you a necklace... are we seriously flying out of the country? When you said you’d spoil me I didn’t think you meant a full on trip...”
“It’s a surprise, Y/N! You just have to trust me!”, he grinned and took your hand, dragging you off to the airport.
After checking your bags in, you got seated at your gate. Shawn had his arm around your shoulders as you snuggled up in the hoodie you had (stolen) borrowed from him.
“Is it gonna be a long flight?”, you ask softly, trying to coax answers out of him.
“Around 8 hours and 30 minutes.”, he nodded.
“Shawn, I don’t know where we’re going but it better be good.”, you sighed.
“Oh, you’re gonna love it.”, he grinned, pressing a kiss to your temple, “Promise.”
You had never flown first class before, and it showed on your face. Your jaw hit the floor when you saw the pods, as you found out they were called. They were basically seats that could recline into a bed form, making it easier to sleep on the plane.
“Shawn...”, you started but he lightly pushed you into where you were sitting before you could say more.
“I need this trip as much as you do, Y/N. If it helps, I’m spoiling me too.”, he smiled charmingly.
“Still... you didn’t have to do all this. I mean, I’m happy, I’m really happy... but it’s too much, I’d be fine with something simple.”, you sighed and took his hand gently in yours.
“Hey, I’m doing this because I love you. I want to show you that.”, he muttered before pressing a kiss to your cheek, “Don’t think too much into it, sweetheart.”
Once you landed you noticed how tired you were. Was the jet lag already setting in? Maybe, or maybe because you barely slept on the plane.
Nevertheless, Shawn and you got your bags and then you were out the door of the airport. You looked at the signs while you were walking out... is that french?
“Shawn... are we in France?”, you asked carefully.
“Just wait until you see where in France.”, he grinned, taking your hand and leading you out of the airport.
There was a taxi driver with “Shawn Mendes” scribbled on a piece of paper.
“Hi, I’m Shawn.”, he said as he walked up to the driver.
“’Ello, I will be driving you to the ‘otel?”, the driver asked with a very french accent.
“Yeah, that’s us!”, Shawn smiled as he shook the man’s hand.
“Great, I will put your bags away.”, the man said and helped you put in your bags in the trunk of the car.
The drive to the hotel was mostly silent, just the driver’s radio playing french pop songs. Your eyes were stuck on what was going on outside the window, trying to figure out where the fuck you were.
As soon as you saw the tower you realized where you were. Paris. Like, the capital of France. The place you’d been wanting to go to forever. That Paris.
“Shawn...”, you turned to him, he had a big grin on his face, “I’m not dreaming, am I?”
“No, you’re not.”, he said and intertwined his fingers with yours.
You reached the hotel quickly and the driver helped you with your bags before he drove off again.
“Let’s hurry inside, eh?”, Shawn grinned and took your bag for you.
You walked after Shawn, looking around the fancy hotel. You weren’t surprised that he picked this hotel... when he says he’s gonna spoil you, then he’s gonna spoil you...
It wasn’t that you were mad at him, he was just spending so much on you and you didn’t do the same for him.
“Hi, I booked a room here for the next week. It should be under Shawn Mendes.”, Shawn told the receptionist.
“Hello. That would be the suite, right?”, she asked.
“Yeah, is it ready? We could wait for a while if it isn’t.”
“No, it’s ready.”, she put the key on the counter, “It’s on the fifth floor, number 512. Breakfast is served from 7am to 10am, so if you want to order it up to your room you’ll have to do it in between then.”
“Alright, thank you.”, Shawn smiled and took the key.
“Thank you so much.”, you added before following Shawn to the elevator.
“Have a nice stay!”
The room was even more amazing than you thought it would be. The ceiling was high, the bed was heaven like, the bathroom was covered with white marble and there was a balcony.
The balcony had a tiny couch and a round little table. It was covered with a roof covering it all from the potential rain that could come.
“This is amazing, babe...”, you hugged him tightly, “Thank you, this is almost too much.”
“You deserve it.”, he said as he pressed a kiss to your forehead, “For keeping up with me for three years.”
“It wasn’t hard.”, you chuckled.
The two of you got some rest before heading out to get dinner. It was like all you’d ever dream of. You really never thought that you’d get to see Paris, since work had you so caught up. So this was a dream come true.
As you walk by the canal Shawn stopped you. Somewhere far away you heard the melody of La Vie En Rosé, but maybe you were imagining it. He took your hand and you gave him a soft smile.
“So, I guess it technically isn’t our anniversary anymore but... I’ve planned this for a while so I wanted to do this now.”, he didn’t look you in the eyes.
“Don’t say you have any more surprises...”, you chuckled.
“Just one more...”, Shawn smiled as if he tried to keep his excitement in, “You don’t have to answer right away, I get it... we haven’t really talked about it but I thought it would be the right time to-”
“Shawn, it’s alright. Just speak your mind, don’t hesitate.”, you assured him.
He took a deep breath and then finally looked you in the eyes.
“Y/N. It’s been three years since we started dating, almost four years since the first time we met. I know that we’ve had times where things were tough, but the happiest memories I have are almost all with you.”, he got down on one knee and you felt your breath hitch in your throat, “And I’d love to make more of those happy memories with you for the rest of my life.”
Shawn took out a black velvet box and opened it to reveal a silver ring inside.
“Would you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?”, he gave you a half smile and you could see the nervousness in his eyes.
“Shawn... I... yes! Of course I’ll marry you!”, you felt the tears brimming in your eyes.
Shawn stood and pulled you in by your waist, cupping your face with his other hand, before pressing his lips to yours. Your hands travelled up his chest before you found your way to his hair, which you tangled your fingers in.
You pulled away to look at his face. His lips wore a big goofy, lovesick, grin which you were pretty sure was on your face as well.
“Wait...”, he muttered and pulled up the box again, “Can I have your hand?”
“Of course.”, you smiled and gave him your left hand.
Shawn carefully put the ring on your ring finger and bringing your hand to his lips to place a soft kiss there.
“You’re the love of my life...”, he hummed before bringing you in for another kiss.

“I thought you’d realized I’d call eventually…”, Adria chuckled on the other side of the phone, “Then again, you just never seem to catch on.”
“Where is she? Where’s Valerie?”, Shawn roared into the phone.
“Valerie was it? I thought we had agreed on Lilian.”, Adria whined, “I can always rename her, I guess.”
“Don’t fucking touch my daughter!”, you hissed to the phone, tears still streaming down your face.
“Or what? You don’t even know where we are.”, she cackled, “I’ll tell you what, Shawnie. If you just let go of your position in the mob, I’ll let you have her back.”
“What do you get from that?”, Shawn quirked an eyebrow.
“Money. I’m not after your place, but someone is. I just happen to work with him for this little project, so I’ll get my part.”, she said in a sweet, sultry voice.
“Who are you working for?”, you questioned when you saw that Shawn was completely speechless.
“Mommy!”, you heard Valerie scream and your heart jumped.
“Oh, someone’s hungry. I’ll have to go, but I’ll patiently wait for your actions.”, Adria giggled.
“No, wait-!”, you tried to talk to Valerie but Adria hung up the phone before you could say anything.
“I’m going to fucking kill her!”, Shawn shouted.
You laid in bed while Shawn planned with the rest of his team. The stuffed teddy bear, which was the only thing left of Valerie that you had, was hugged tightly to your chest.
You remembered when Shawn had gotten it for her...
He got home earlier than expected. Either his meeting went really good or really bad. But by the way Shawn walked through the living room and into the kitchen, where you were making dinner, it had gone good.
Valerie giggled as Shawn walked in and babbled something that was supposed to resemble “dad”.
“How are my two favorite girls doing?”, he grinned widely.
“Better now that you’re home.”, you smiled as his arms wrapped around you, “Meeting went good, bubba?”
“Really good, actually.”, he kissed your shoulder before letting you go and walking over to Valerie, “And I got you a present!”
You looked over your shoulder, away from whatever you were cooking, to see Shawn showing a stuffed teddy bear with a red bow around it’s neck to a giggling Valerie. The curly haired girl stared at with shock and adoration, as if it were a diamond.
“Don’t go around spoiling her now.”, you chuckled as you turned back to cooking.
“What? Are you jealous?”, he joked, which made you laugh.
He walked over to you again, after leaving Valerie with her teddy bear, and rested his hands on your hips. Now that you were facing him you could really look at his face. You brushed over the scar on his cheek with your thumb. He looked tired... probably because he spent the entire day at work with no breaks.
For a second you felt like you were a normal family. That you weren’t the wife of a dangerous mob boss and that he was just tired from his normal office job.
“You know I can give you a present too...”, he grinned.
You cradled his face with your hands as a small and tired laugh escaped your lips.
“You look tired, Shawn.”, you said, “Maybe not tonight?”
“I’m not tired if it’s for you.”, he leaned his forehead against yours.
“The best present you can give me is you just being here.”, you mumbled softly, “But I wouldn’t mind you giving me that present either.”
“Thought so.”, he grinned cockily.
You smiled at the memory. God, you hadn’t smiled in a while... your eyes travelled to the empty side of the bed beside you.
Shawn always tried to stay in bed with you for as long as he could, though sometimes duty called... or Valerie cried. He always used to insist to go take care of her when she was crying. He was insanely good at doing it without waking you up too, so you didn’t even have a chance at stopping him...
You woke up by the lack of Shawn next to you. Valerie’s cradle was empty so you were guessing she had started crying. He was a very light sleeper already but since Valerie was born, he practically was half awake when he was sleeping.
Without Shawn or Valerie there, you couldn’t fall back asleep so you got out of bed. You wandered around the house to try and find them.
A slight hum came from the kitchen, which made you walk in there. The sight was absolutely adorable. Shawn was holding Valerie to his bare chest, his eyes closed as the microwave was warming up a bottle of milk. The humming was, of course, coming from Shawn. He was humming a tune you had heard from one of his old vinyls... something he had made you dance with him to.
“I wish I brought a camera...”, you giggled.
Shawn opened his eyes and gave you a soft smile, still rocking Valerie back and forth.
“I didn’t wake you up, did I?”, he asked sleepily.
“The lack of you did.”, you lazily walked up to him, “You know I could take care of her midnight urges sometimes too.”
“You need the sleep.”, he answered, “Besides, you take care of her all day while I’m gone for work.”
“Still...”, you mumbled but did have much time to argue since the microwave started beeping.
“I’ll get that... can you hold her?”, he smiled and carefully handed you Valerie.
You watched him as he carefully took out the bottle of milk and put it on the counter beside you.
With a yawn you tried handing your child over to Shawn again but she immediately started fussing.
“She’s a momma’s girl.”, he grinned and handed you the bottle, “But I can’t blame her...”
You gave him a sweet smile as a thank you before carefully starting to feed the baby in your arms.
Shawn went up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist. He softly leaned his head on your shoulder and watched with an adoring smile over Valerie.
“She has your eyes.”, he mumbled as he pressed a kiss to your temple.
“I think they look like yours... they’re honey brown, like yours.”, you smiled, “I think she’s gonna have your curls too.”, you carefully pushed away the brown curls that had already started growing on Valerie’s head.
“Well, then she has your beautiful smile... and I can already tell she’s going to have the same attitude.”, he chuckled lightly.
“Hey!”, you said quietly.
It was one of your favorite memories... except the first time that you had to walk in with Valerie on Shawn’s meeting.
“If you’ll excuse me…”, Shawn turned away from the much older men and got up from his chair.
“What’s wrong?”, he asked you as he took Valerie in his arms.
“She heard the shouting. I think she got a bit worried about you…”, you smiled and stroke away a couple curls from Valerie’s face.
“Shi-”
You gave him a stern look, causing him to drag out the swear word and ending it on “shoot”.
“I can’t keep her in here, darling. You know that…”, Shawn sighed and handed Valerie back to you.
“I know… can you just keep it down?”, you pleaded.
You tried to remember everyone in that room. To see if anyone looked slightly annoyed by your entrance. You remember the older man, Owen Wolfgang... he had died just a few months ago, alcohol poisoning. He never seemed like much of a drinker to you.
His son was nothing like him. At the funeral he acted very strange, refused to talk to you and barely talked to Shawn at all.
Your dad knew him well, though. He had made sure you stayed away from him and told you to keep Valerie away from him too. It was only a hunch but it was something.
You got up from bed and walked into Shawn’s office.
“Arren Wolfgang. Look him up, now.”, you said harshly as you walked out.
“Why? No one has seen him since Owen’s funeral.”, Brian questioned.
“I know it’s far fetched but... what was the thing he always seemed to talk about. Power and respect, right?”, you looked at Shawn, “I know that you introduced him to Adria too, so they have a connection.”
“Keep going...”, Shawn said as he got out of his chair.
“If he’s been gone for so long, he’s probably planning something. Or has planned something.”, you sighed.
“It’s a lead, if anything.”, Brian nodded.
“Y/N...”, Shawn looked at you, “We need to go to your dad.”
