There's something romantic about your favorite sweater that has worn slowly over time, becoming thread bare in those certain high stress spots. The edges of the neck and sleeves have likely worn, and holes have developed along the seam joining the cuff to the sleeve.
As you know, holes will only grow bigger with every wear and wash. So mending them while they are still small or just formed is always best. As they say, a stitch in time saves nine. Of course, sometimes life tends to get in the way. That little hole is forgotten and put off until its grown to be gargantuan.
But no need to worry! It can still be saved. In this blog post we will show you how to mend a hole in your knit fleece sweaters, small or large! Of course, this technique will work equally well for all knit garments.
The method we will use is mending by hand, or hand sewing, which a quite beautiful and meditative process. Making your favorite sweater all the more unique and romantic.

As you can see some holes are still small and some have grown quite large.
In the diagrams above you see the stitch pattern we have used to mend the holes. In essence we are weaving in new fabric to replace the delicate fabric surrounding the hole.
This form of mending gives the sweater a unique and rich look, making it all the more lovable.
