One of the reasons I link #Saturn both astrologically and mythologically to #menswork and #themensquest and #sacredmasculine shadow work is because of the role Saturn plays in Space and Time Work.
Saturn represents the boundary between past and future, combining the memory of the past and the potential of the future into the present moment where space intersects with time to create the unique manifestation that generates the present. A Saturn transit is a review of the past for patterns that work and don't work, an awareness of the future and how those patterns can either be perpetuated or changed...and the present itself, which "presents" the opportunity to make the needed changes.
Yet there is also the iterative aspect to be considered. The present taps into the echoes of the past and future, pulling in what happened and what could happen and creating a fusion of all those moments, which when accessed intentionally through ritual and directed appropriately can create powerful momentum for changes to occur.
The magical applications are obvious. I've been experimenting with iterative approaches to magic over the last few years and seen very favorable results which I plan to publish in a future book, but I've also been thinking about how to apply this to the Men's Work.
The conclusion I am coming to is that men need rituals that speak to the depths of their soul and yet also pull them into the embodied present so they can do the transformative work they need to do. Saturn is a perfect archetypal force to work because he embodies both the rebellion of the son and the tyranny of the father...but also embodies the need to become one's own person in the present, working within the boundaries and limits that are present and learning how to transform them into opportunities for growth and change.
The Men's Quest is the start of that journey and the Saturn work is a deeper extension of the quest that teaches men how to manifest the life they want even when working within extenuating limitations.
