neurodivergent errorink family headcanons cause i can
not gonna go over ink as much because. he’s ink. also i don’t change him much from the canon!! but i will talk about him if yall want
gradient has volume control issues in the opposite of how error does. error tends to yell and scare himself (ink thinks it is very funny) but gradient is always. ALWAYS. so goddamn quiet. plus he has some proprioceptive issues so he tends to barely touch the paper if doing traditional art, his brain just. doesn’t let him press hard on stuff. so that’s why he loves digital art, he can adjust it to work for him!!
gradient also has issues with day to day things (motor and mental limitations) which is why he lives with error and ink as an adult for a long time (he eventually moves between his parents’ house and lux!! since they get into a relationship but he doesn’t want her to have to be his semi-caretaker) but that doesn’t make him any less of an adult!!!! i really do wanna stress that, and it’s ok for someone to be living with parents in any way and at any age.
error was very late diagnosed with autism. he only got the diagnosis after they had gradient and a doctor told them about what to expect from an autistic kid. and error was like oh shit that’s me
it took him a while to even admit it though once he knew. but afterward so much made sense!! rewatching one show over and over?? haphephobia partially derived from sensory issues?? never wanting new clothes to the point of repairing the literal rags they have been reduced to???
plus the bpd is canon at this point. ink reminds him he’s not gonna leave, and makes sure error knows it is NOT personal when he forgets him, even though that is a point of conflict sometimes. he also stops making fun of him for being egotistical, because you can never tell whether it’s genuine or a coping mechanism. he used to tease him a lil and try to knock him down a peg or two, but he noticed that would always send him into a spiral so nope!! he gets a lot more emotional support now especially when the kids get older and can actually understand. he would snap at them sometimes if they bothered him a lot or made fun of him during low self esteem days, so it’s good that they learned he didn’t dislike them at all!! he was mad at himself and not them, most of the time.
anger issues are strong in this one. but everybody learned a while ago that when somebody is a little volatile, you shouldn’t walk on eggshells near them, so even if she gets mad more often when she’s home, she also knows her family’s not gonna take any bullshit if she exaggerates. plus they do take her seriously most of the time! accepting that she can be explosive and intelligent and capable all at once is definitely an issue for her, but seeing how error gets treated even when he’s not doing well helps.
she also can use grumpiness to hide the fact that she’s pretty damn insecure about her worth, especially as the sort of “pruner” of the multiverse. feeling inadequate about chronic illness and realizing her life will never be “normal”? really fucking hard. she cries when she thinks nobody will hear.
ALSO not diagnosed autistic but has a very. VERY intense MLP special interest. can name every pony ever and all their lore
i’ll yap more if wanted :3
