Okay! With the announcement of Pokémon Bank today, we got a look at how the boxes in the game will be handled. We got to look at three boxes, which all had the standard 30 Pokémon inside. One or two were repeated, but for the most part we got to look at around 90 different Pokémon's menusprites. The exciting thing, though, is not the menusprites of new Pokémon, but that many of the sprites for the older Pokémon were actually changed! This was hinted at in the detail of 6th Gen menusprites we had seen before. Bear with me as I describe each change. The ones marked with tiny red Xs on the picture are insignificant. Dragonite: More detailed, especially in the antennae. Magikarp: More detailed, slightly on its side. Gyarados: Bigger and more detailed face and fins. Machamp: More dynamic, face tilted down. Ampharos: Stands upright, generally better proportions. Gliscor: Tiny touch-ups. Insignificant. Krookodile: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Abosl: Small changes to leg and horn. Insignificant. Jigglypuff: Much more detailed, correct eye color. Marill: Smaller body and open mouth. Tail zigzags more. Hydreigon: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Charizard: Tail flame blows upward. Different wing color. Far arm is shown. Lucario: A little different, more detail in the legs, arm spike more defined. Miltank: Face facing more to the left, tail now visible. Axew: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Haxorus: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Houndour: More detail in face, like a visible tooth. Legs are better defined. Staraptor: Slightly smaller wing. Insignificant. Flygon: Looks much better, especially in face. Druddigon: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Scizor: More dynamic and angled in leg pose. Far wing bigger. Salamence: Mouth closed, legs and wings look better. Haunter: More direct angle, hands are much better defined. Lapras: Longer neck, bigger fins. Charmeleon: Slightly bigger flame. Insignificant. Ditto: Mouth expression changed. Possibly insignificant. Zapdos: Shows black on back of wings. Longer beak. Mewtwo: Generally more detailed in all regards. Typhlosion: More body can be seen, bigger flames. Psyduck: Much more detailed head and hands, among other things. Kingdra: Generally more detailed in all regards, especially back fin. Suicune: Looks more dynamic and has better colors for head decoration and back "hair". Lugia: Looks more upright, actually has blue color. Swampert: Slightly better details in feet, back fin, and face. Altara: More dynamic antennae and bigger feet. Milotic: Looks longer and more detailed in the head. Metagorss: Rounder top and better division in leg room. Kyogre: Better proportions all around. Rayquaza: Better proportions, especially in the face. Infernape: Longer tail, better head. Possibly insignificant. Pachirisu: Better face detail. Weavile: Far arm reaches farther, far ear now visible. Garchomp: Looks more dynamic, far arm covers far foot. Palkia: Stretches out more near the top. Cresselia: Better proportions and placement of "arms". Arceus: Taller in the head-neck area. No "pupil". Serperior: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Munna: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Chandelure: Fatter face and differently flowing fire. Fraxure: Tiny touch-ups. Insignificant. Volcarona: More detailed face. Possibly insignificant. Terrakion: Better spread out legs and horn shape. Reshiram: Stands taller and more dynamic. Tail more visible. Kyurem: Bigger face, yellow color now visible. Hariyama: Better details in the chest area, colors generally improved. Zoroark: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Golurk: Arms more clearly defined, legs look less flat. Snorlax: Fatter, arms reach farther. Gardevoir: Different angle, less circular in dress area. Mawile: Face is actually visible, as are hands. Tauros: Better defined in the face and mane. Looks charge-y. Eevee: Fluffier mane, less of the far body visible. Litwick: Bigger flame, base is less circular. Mienfoo: Almost completely the same. Insignificant. Dratini: Looks more serpentine, bigger ear-fins. Just as a note, in general it looks like the colors were made sharper and better. They probably had more, bigger palettes to choose from in the jump to 3DS. Whew! I hope you all enjoyed looking at the picture and found some use in my descriptions.
