Hooooolllllyyyy fuck there’s a lot to unpack in the new WandaVision episode. Gonna take a break from my weekly commercial analysis because we didn’t get one this week (boooo) and talk about how in control Wanda actually is of this reality.
So Wanda is definitely complicit in maintaining this reality, if not the outright cause of it. She is clearly happy here with her husband and her babies, and seems to be actively suppressing reality in her own head. I thought she might have had them buried completely, but it’s more likely that it’s a running commentary in her head that she’s ignoring.
But at the same time, what triggered this mental collapse? At the end of Endgame, we see her at Tony’s funeral, and she seemed at least sane enough to mention Vision and be at least a little at peace with it. Obviously that doesn’t mean she can’t have more grief to process, but she didn’t seem on the verge of going so insane she kidnaps an entire town. She also seemed willing to question what was happening in ep 2, when Dottie broke the glass and when she found the drone in the bushes. She was also listening to Vision question things in ep 3 before time rewound (which I’m wondering if she actually caused that one, because it was so different from how she did it in ep 2, and it didn’t fit the 70s aesthetic).
Honestly, I’m wondering if she’s just the guard dog for this realm, not the full cause of it. She seemed shocked for a second when she threw Monica out, and she’s only attacked when she feels threatened. I don’t think she created this reality, or the broadcast either (why would you broadcast your own hostage situation?). I also don’t think we would find out Wanda was the villain so soon if that were 100% the truth too. There’s something else at play here, and I NEED TO KNOW
