just cos you posted about how keyleth could have benefitted from a caduceus, got any thoughts about various vm and m9 member swaps or additions?

but so like. to me the interesting part of this question is who would actively benefit from things being switched around. bc i think you could airlift just about anyone from either party into the other & they’d get along mostly fine. these characters would find a way to love one another pretty much no matter what
but who would actively benefit? i said i thought keyleth would benefit from having caduceus, & i still think so, but tbh i also think vax's crisis of faith might have gone differently if he’d had caduceus around, like cad was there for fjord, & especially bc melora and the raven queen are so connected
tbh i think keyleth would’ve done extremely well in the m9. she and fjord have a lot in common, i think, in that they both share the experience of trying to live up to something you maybe aren’t, and having to figure out a way through that. in general keyleth would’ve done really well in that m9 boys fish & chips convo tbh
i think vex could’ve really shone in the m9, & they as a group would’ve really benefited from having her with them. they often play a game of chicken with regards to who’s gonna step into the leadership breach, & i think vex’s decisiveness would massively change that dynamic. i think she and fjord share much the same similarities that keyleth shares with fjord, except this time from a ‘both half-something and struggling with the implications of that’ point of view
percy could arguably be good for the m9 in the same way as vex, in that he could also fill some of that leadership breach, but i think he and caleb are unmovable from their campaigns bc their storylines are both so bound up in the overall campaign narrative. which is probably for the best bc percy and caleb in the same group would be fascinating, in that they explore pretty similar themes from opposite directions, but ultimately probably bad for one another
this feels like cheating but i think scanlan and veth would be really good for one another in a weird way. like they would absolutely enable each other’s shenanigans but they’re also both parents who deal with addiction, & i think having a kindred spirit in the group who understands that would change the game massively for both of them
i’ve mostly focused on moving one member of vm into the m9 here just to avoid writing even more of an essay dkfsgh but honourable mention to moving fjord and/or beau into vox machina: fjord has similarities with keyleth & vex, as above, & i’d love to see beau’s dynamic with grog and percy. but ultimately i do think anyone would do well anywhere. these nerds just do be like that
