There really was nothing that could compare to her smile.

It was the first thing she always noticed, whenever that time of day arrived. The smile, so spectacular, you couldn’t possibly be a human to actually survive its beauty. Thankfully, that was exactly who Amélie was. After the first shock, the lines started to appear as a figure. The soft outlines quickly made out her features, her light blond hair, the curves of her body and eyes as clear as the sky. Every day was even more beautiful.

“How was your night, love?” Angela spoke in a way, incomparable to any other sound.

“Tedious,” was usually Amélie’s answer, followed by a roll of her eyes.

She had discovered it was the best way to make Angela laugh. If there was something that could compare to the beauty of her smile, it had to be the sound of her laugh. Pearly, clear, one that made you want to join along or listen to the sound for eternity.

“Is that so?” she finally asked, hard to contain her amusement.

“Chérie, you know how it always goes…” Amélie persisted.
