I just really wanted to tell you again how much I love “Strange things like Mercy” like Holy Crap you are an amazing writer and this fic is just so wonderfully crafted. I love the small details and that you don’t rush through the required slow in between stuff (believe me I hate writing it too when you just want to get to the next good part). I’ve just started re-reading it all from the beginning and am having a fantastic time as it really is such a joy to read the whole way through. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that you’ve brightened up that start of my 2022, so I wanted to let you know in case you needed some brightening too. Thanks so much for staying with this story for so long and having the courage to share it with us! You’re so awesome and I hope you’re doing well. All the best.

man thank you anon!!! i really appreciate you hitting me up! i'm always happy to hear it when my fic hits that sweet spot that warrants rereads. i've been like, half-assedly dabbling with more of the story, and if i can i want to at least post two or three entries this year for it. if i have my way, mercyverse will get sporadic updates for like... the next million years lmao. i at least want to get to the point i fantasized about hitting when i first started -- a little brotherly confrontation, you know????

for now though i hope that you enjoy rereading what i have!!! we'll see how quickly i can get the next part finished hehe.

ok i’m just gonna put a pin in it and say that i’ll post some new mercyverse content on monday. it might not be 100% perfect but i reread the original fic the other night and realized there are tons of errors so i shouldn’t hold the spinoffs to a higher standard lmfao.

its a 3 part fic but i think i’ll just post the first part to start with since it’s a reread or two away from being good to go. then depending on how i feel i’ll try to post the 2nd part on friday and the 3rd part the following... wednesday??? idk. maybe just make it 3 mondays in a row?  maybe post them as soon as i feel ready to regardless of a schedule??? there are so many options, what am i gonna do

anyway wrt mercy i am gonna try to actually post something soon, i have like... 6k written in this lil 2-parter, but i need to rewrite part 1 and i think the total is gonna balloon to about 10-15k. honestly i’ve realized that 10k is my sweetspot, i can pretty much write all i need in a story without going too much under or over. then again i have never ONCE edited my work for length so i guess i don’t really know!

i thought i had to do it once, for a metalocalypse gift exchange, but i just looked at it’s just under 5k so i was definitely in the right range there. huh. i really should try that sometime, but honestly i like being a little extra wordy. anything over 11k is hard to handle tho so i try not to get THAT overwhelming, but man, i LOVE that length. its so nice

anyway i want to get that done, but i also want to work on a halloween story so i need to make sure to give myself time to read some inspiration. i have something in mind for red dead online about my character, but i want to try and write more time-appropriate for it so i’m gonna down some ambrose bierce and hope that does it for me lmfao

raw dumbass dialogue i’ve decided i can’t cut even though the entire conversation adds NOTHING to the story

"The choices are 'vaporized' or 'teleported to Mars'?" "Dep could've been bullshitting me, but they weren't, uh... much of a practical joker." John silently agrees to disagree on that point.  "I suppose either option is better than what happened to the rest of us," he says.  "Although realistically, the man was one paranoid delusion away from assassinating a government official." Nick shakes his head.  "He wasn't that bad.  Just a kook who believed in aliens more than people.  Still — I mean, if he really did make it to Mars, we probably look like a bunch of fuckin' assholes from wherever he's sitting."  He sighs, a little dramatically, and admits, "I wish I could've gone to Mars.  I bet Kim would like it there." "Why?" John asks, unable to help himself. "I dunno, she always wanted to go on foreign trips and stuff.  Can't get much more foreign than outer space."  He hums thoughtfully and admits, "I guess she would've been pregnant, and since you can't fly with a pregnant lady, I bet you can't vaporize them either."
