Letters to Home: Young Malaysians Write Back
It is very rare for me to finish a non-fiction book and this is one of the unusual occasions where the book doesn’t end up on the “abandoned” bookshelf.
The essays are ingeniously arranged. Most of them are heavy discussions ranging from racial tension and language dispute to immigrant and environmental concerns. But the relatable, casually written stories in between make the book a fun and easy read.
I’ve never had a book so close to home. The writings opened my eyes to the issues facing our country, some of which I tend to overlook or was oblivious of. This is how to be patriotic on Merdeka eve, bookworm way.
