A couple of updates.
“Famine for a Slow Death” got a very kind review in this month’s issue of Maximum Rock ‘N Roll. So shout out to whoever wrote that.
We are doing a weekend trip to Virginia in May. Playing two cities we’ve never been to before. Should be dope!

New dropcards/MRR ad. @swallowingband just finished a weekend tour with Moloch and have begun recording for their next release already. (Here's hoping our mate @feastoftentacles is back in good health after something of a scare this weekend too.) Altered Form tapes are almost sold out (6 left at this moment), and Ryan has begun recording for an upcoming split with @sacramence (Steve Jordan of Bottomfeeder and PGSB fame) that we are excited to hear (and distribute) as well. @merephantoms are locking down tour dates for early May, including my bachelor party gig with Devoidov, Moutheater, and Druglord. It's gonna be a banger and I hope to see you there. Also, I heard a practice recording of one of their new tracks and - shocker! - it's killer. Expect more from Mere Phantoms later this year. Up next: - The cassette (and later, LP) version of the new Romannis Mötte full m length "Time Sequences. - A cassette with four new songs from one of my favorite up and coming death metal bands. - At least one reissue from a legendary VB band that was formative to my coming of age and discovery of hardcore. - An international "electronics" collaboration that I still can't believe I've been asked to be a part of. ... a few more projects in the tubes that haven't begun recording yet, but it's looking like 2016 is going to be a solid year and we appreciate all of your support in making it so.

Mere Phantoms play hardcore with politically and socially conscious lyrics, and on “Famine For a Slow Death” are conceptually in line with the best elements of 90’s hardcore, but through a sonic filter more akin to Orchid, Catharsis, or Thou. Featuring Aaron Vilk (Nyodene D) and other secret commies from the Rustbelt.Single sided LP with screened b-side, including a zine featuring essays and lyrics on recycled paper. DJ-styled sleeves with hand-glued covers featuring original art by Dylan Garrett Smith.

32 minutes of dreamy, haunting, minimal synth inspired by the work of Klaus Schulze, Steve Moore, John Carpenter, etc. Almost entirely improvised with no overdubs, and recorded at home in Richmond, VA on a combination of both commercially available synths and homemade electronics.
Limited to 60 copies on beautiful blue, pro-dubbed, high bias, chrome cassettes with full color 3-panel J-cards.

This LP is seven tracks of grinding metallic punk analyzing want, desperation, and blight in the face of hoarded and exploited abundance. “Music for the pillars and workers of the gears.” Mere Phantoms play hardcore with politically and socially conscious lyrics, and on "Famine For a Slow Death" are conceptually in line with the best elements of 90's hardcore, but through a sonic filter akin to Orchid, Catharsis, or Thou. I love putting out records for bands I respect and enjoy, and I love making sure those records aren’t some run of the mill, forgettable thing mass-produced for the vinyl revival crowd. But I also try to make sure my releases aren’t needlessly rare (obscure for the sake of being obscure), or over-complicated “diehard” editions with superficial shit added. They’re records (and sometimes tapes, considering the current plant turnaround times). They’re for listening to, and maybe, if you’re an obsessive moron like me, buying multiple copies of and posting of those different copies next to eachother for some reason I still don’t understand. So, basically, Mere Phantoms are a great fucking band, and I hope you enjoy this album as much as I do. They worked really hard on it, and then I took a long time to get physical copies of it to them, which sometimes felt like hard work, but was mostly just me being stubborn and wanting to hand-make covers and screen LPs at home.
