Windenburg, A Long Time Ago . . .
As we got older, we only grew closer. I spent almost all of my free time with Meredith, but I didn’t mind. I loved my little sister more than anyone else. I leaned on her just as much as she leaned on me.
But, as time went on, it was also more and more evident that Mere just wasn’t like the rest of us. She had a lot of trouble learning about the world, despite Aunt V and my best efforts to teach her.
She never let any of that get her down, though. She was incredibly curious and always asking questions about everything. Anywhere I went, she was right there with me. I suppose that might be why I never had many friends, but looking back, I never even noticed.
Meredith was all I needed. She was my rock and my sail. She kept me grounded, but she also showed me how to look at our world from a different perspective. I wish I could’ve thanked her for that.
