Quick study of a Merlin scene
On the tube and a 30 year old man is watching Merlin... i don't usually feel the need to praise a man but here we are.
Update: turned out he was watching it on recommendation from his sister. Yes i asked. Yes it felt like sacrilege. Iykyk.

pretend this screenshot isn't like two pixels but why is he aurafarming
currently crying thinking about morgana pendragon who was just a confused young woman who didn't know what was happening with herself and why she is the way she was, her recurrent dreams, finding out she actually has magic, then that uther was actually her father all along, a father who'd possibly kill her if he ever found out, oh morgana the writers were cowards about your story, even they misunderstood you
"Sorcery will reign once more in Camelot. Is that what you'd want ? [...] Perhaps the old ways aren't as evil as we thought."
The way Merlin stares at Arthur and you can feel how he's shaking inside, how much he wants to say how much he has to say and how he cannot speak any of it as tears form in his eyes out of pure fear for himself but also a hint of joy and relief because in a way Arthur is saying that sorcery (Merlin) deserves to be free out in Camelot and not ostracized and hidden forever, but then all Merlin can say is : "There can be no place for magic in Camelot."
This one scene could've changed everything, all Merlin had to say was that accepting magic was the right thing, instead he prolonges the cycle of hatred for magic he's the one changing Arthur's fate and destiny, worse is Arthur would've genuinely listened to Merlin he would have accepted magic he was finally ready
ive been writing for the bbc merlin fandom and i have yet to link any of my fics to tumblr, so have a mini fic dump
arranged from newest to oldest
By Talos this can't be happening - a skyrim/merlin merger in which the dovahkiin (merlin) shirks his duties and refuses to see the greybeards, much to his follower's (arthur's) dismay. genfic, 23k words, completed. written for the merlin reverse big bang and the art is embedded and credited.
Acting Physician - merlin is left in charge in gaius's absence. what could go wrong? featuring a mysterious troublemaker and merlin roping half of camelot in on his shenanigans. genfic, 18k words, completed. written as a gift for the round table gift exchange
Instinctual - a drabble featuring merlin accidentally revealing his magic to arthur. genfic, 1k words, completed. was a drabble for dopamine in the merlin library (aka i write a short story to encourage someone to complete a task they've been dreading)
The Love That Binds Us - an analysis from Mordred's POV of his experience. Mordred lovers, this one's for you. if you're on the fence about what you think about him you should read this too. genfic, 3k words, completed. written because i was jokingly put on trial and had to do community service, but i love my boy
ty for coming to my tedtalk
Would You Fall In Love With Me Again but it’s Merthur
