For those who didn't see the other picture and the update, my baby has a full body rash and he's torn himself up so much that he's gotten mangy. This has been going on for a couple of weeks, it hasn't been long but this is how bad it got in a short time. I set up a vet appointment and set aside $150 to cover the exam and any medicine they give him.
Right now he's a little upset with me cause I got him wet. I got some medicated shampoo for the itchies. I didn't want to traumatize him by giving him a bath so what I did was wet a rag with warm water and cover it in the shampoo, then I rubbed it on him. He objected at first but, unlike other times I give him "baths", he actually let me continue, though he did make it clear he didn't like it. Then he got to eating. He's got a very healthy appetite, he's just itchy and neurotic because of it.
It's allergies as far as I can tell. I'm curious if it's the flea medicine he's reacting to cause the dose was about the time when this all started. Could be air borne so my roommate and I are being extra vigilant about keeping the filters in the house clean. We won't know till we see the vet. In the meantime I'm putting a sock around his neck to keep him from tearing it up more, and a muscle shirt for anxiety (size 6-9mo, he's a big boy). He's naked now because of the "bath".
On an unrelated note, as you can see I feed my cats from a tray and a plate. This is to avoid something called whisker fatigue. The reason cats eat out of the center of the bowl and then act like it's empty is because their whiskers rub up against the bowl and overstimulate them. Those are exposed nerves for sensing the environment and the bowl is just a bit too much for that. So I feed them from a flat surface to prevent that.
He's also got a recall notice for his car. Should probably head to the dealership.
