"See I don’t know. I heard you shouting incoherently the other night. It didn’t sound like words."
Merlin raised an eyebrow, pursing his lips. “Oh, that- That wasn’t much of anything, believe me. I think I was drunk.” His voice pitched slightly at the last word, and he bit his cheek hoping it wasn’t obvious.
"Merlin. Don't waste your breath lying. You're no good at it." Or perhaps as a perpetual liar, Alanna was good at hearing them.
"You don't have to tell me the truth, if its a secret. I get that. Just please don't waste your time lying. You're better then that."
