Tessa my buddy my pal, this is just a lil message to remind you that you are a shining light in the rpc ✨️ you are always so nice and welcoming to everyone and have always been so supportive of others, always cheering everyone on! & ofc who can forgot your commitment to brown girl rep. 😊 ILYSM. KEEP BEING AWESOME.
raniiiii <3 you absolutely live up to your name!!! tysm for your kind words, they mean a lot to me! ilysm also @unitlead!
brown girl rep (and asian girl rep) is super important to me and that goes all the way back to my childhood, teenhood and young adulthood and is now a pivotal part of my adulthood as well.
that said, there's more than one way to tell a story and therefore i want to shout out some characters of color that i absolutely hold near and dear to my heart and a handful of blogs that people should follow if they don't already:
@enchaentales: aurora is so creative and it shows. truly, from characters like venus conejo to sistine chappell, i'm always just in awe of aurora's creations and i immediately want five movies and eight books about them. that's how much i love those characters. they just take you away and pull you in and you know what? good for them. it's their world now, i'm just living in it.
@silencedrage: arrow has a gift for creating characters that stick with you long after you've read about them or interacted with them. because yes, i love kevin ma and i want the best for kevin ma and i would fight the entire world for one (1) goofy person who works at the arcade (even though i'd probably break my hand). but it's not just kevin ma, it's other ocs too like austen herrera and daya ray and kai tamaki and jacqueline feng. like, oh my gosh, just ten out of tens, a+, no notes across the board forever and i mean that so sincerely.
@dulcetbloodmercy / @heroicxvixen: mercy is canon in my head and heart and would have made btvs so much better, just because mercy as a character pushes the envelope; she's exactly the kind of slayer who would get the plot moving and not only that - she fits within other shows of that genre (think tvd et al) as well. truly, i would have loved to have seen a character like mercy on my screen while i was growing up. i think it would have been tremendously positive experience for me as a person. that said, i'm glad to have her in my life now, though.
as for medina: she gives me quiet and contemplative energy and reminds me of those beautiful botanic gardens and i can't wait to get to know her better!
@daemondaes: you know what? ragdoll is one of my favorite heroes ;) no but seriously, i would love five movies, three seasons and a podcast about one (1) cherry as well as the other muses on that blog and in cherry's life. it would make for such good tv, i know it. everyone knows it. cherry as a whole is such a breath of fresh air and i love reading all the shenanigans that she gets up to. plus: you can never go wrong with cherry colored hair, yeahhhh!
@escapedartgeek: i love zora andrews. actual loml right there. z is so cool! so effortlessly cool. and they slot in anywhere, too. partially because of the powers they have, but also because z just feels like one of those characters that's able to be the missing piece in any piece of canon and slot in accordingly. they fit in sci fi threads, they fit in superhero threads. they fit in slice of life threads. they are like a kaleidoscope of a character in the best possible way. atp, i'm manifesting a comic book adaption for z: they deserve it and so do you and i love their story so much <3
@bewitchingbaker: chris feels best friend coded but he also feels friends to lovers coded and i love him very much indeed. i feel like he gives the best hugs. i also love that he just gets pulled into so many shenanigans - not all of them by his own making - and just rolls with the punches as well as he does. i want the world for him, genuinely.
@yearnstarved: so many great characters on this blog but elly!!! my dearest darling elly!!! i see so much of my younger self in her. i just want to wrap her up in a fluffy blanket and give her hot cocoa and a hug. i also love the different variations of elly that you've got on your blog but throughout all the au's, elly's core stays the same and i think that's a testament to your writing.
@thrownsoul: alice agamah has been a constant on my dash(es) since pretty much 2015 and i'm so glad to see you back on my dash(es) again. alice as a character feels so much like someone who welcomes you back home after you've made a long journey but also someone who would make the journey alongside you. i love alice a bunch and i can't wait to see where you'll take this character next!
@soulmissed: august collins? more like auggie, the bestest and brightest! he is so near and dear to my heart. not just because he's a kid but because he is one of the few characters i came across who's got dyscalculia as well so i'm very familiar with some of his school related struggles. ruben balances auggie's innate sweetness and his grit very well. it's a delicate thing but ruben absolutely manages.
@starfoam: i need everyone to know that i adore lorelei snow! i also need everyone to know that i wish that lo would slow down sometime but i don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon. anyway, i would let luminous save me anytime and esme, i hope you're so, so proud of yourself and what you've created because lo is such a shining star of a magical girl and such a main stay on my dash.
@moonaffair: virote srisati! the man of the hour! vi is genuinely one of my favorite oc's because he's not what most people would expect and i love that. i would say he's like someone you would run into on the streets but idk if he'd ever come to rotown lmao. all jokes aside, one of my fondest rp moments will forever be vi having one (1) convo with udyati and him just changing her entire outlook. sidenote: i think vi might've changed my outlook as well that day. i carry him with me. i've literally thought "what would vi do?" in real life during tough moments. i'm forever hoping and manifesting a happy ending for him. i hope he gets the man of his dreams because if anyone deserves that, it's vi. diren writes this moon god splendidly and with a lot of verve.
@chimugukuru: ushi and kamado higa are so beloved by me and lilac handles them so tenderly. every word that's being written on the blog, you can feel. you can feel the love and care, compassion and sincerity that lilac puts into their respective stories, backgrounds and personal growth. they're like sunbeams to me. i love both of them very, very much.
