first of all thanks so much for the audios!! i honestly feel so blessed! and i have a question for you: when you write valvert, is there a certain actor pair that you you're thinking of particularly? does it change from fic to fic or do you basically have one default? i guess it gets interesting since with so many different performances and takes on the character the stories and dialogue could turn out much differently depending on whose version you're using.

And I’m actually not a very visual person, I have trouble even remembering faces. For Javert, it’s really not based on his acting at all, but Tam Mutu’s looks especially in this photo here are what I think of when I write the Javert of the casefic. Just imagine him all dirty and dusty and sweaty and his hair tangled as he bends over Valjean in their cell. <3

Apart from that, I don’t really think much of actors when I write, although there is one idea for a Swenson-based Javert fic I have. Which is going to be awful, but I can’t help it, his wide eyes and heaving chest at the barricade make me want to write terrible things and I think I just need to get this one scene out of my system. /o\

For Valjean it’s even harder because there’s never been an actor who looks the way I imagine him. Like, I imagine him with gorgeous, beautifully soft white hair, long enough for Javert to bury his hands in (I guess it’s obvious I really like hair!) and most stage wigs for Valjean are just not that great. Or the hair is too short. It should be as long as breadsports‘ Valjean’s hair! Long enough to brush his collar. Long enough that Javert can run his fingers through it.

But this is mainly just looks, characterization-wise I try to stick with the Brick (though I’m sure there are people who’d argue with that, but I reread scenes a lot when trying to figure out how to write something because I have a lot of trouble trying to figure out characterization based on movies/stage. Like, how do you write thought processes when you cannot read their POV? And I know tons of people are in movie fandoms but trying to write for a canon where I cannot just reread the source all the time to figure out character voices always makes me feel really insecure.)

I guess I’m more inspired by tropes or all those what-ifs I’ve got in my head than actual performances. I love Ramin’s Valjean, but I’m not sure I could write him because he often acts so OOC for what I see as “my” Valjean in my head. But I still want Ramin to rip off his shirt even though my Valjean would never do that!
