so. im taking this opportunity to ramble about my mermaid komaeda. but im also sparing you and putting most of the rambling under a cut (ur welcome)

in case you havent read my cringe mermaid fanfic, here it is for ur viewing pleasure

okay i have a confession. when i wrote ch1 i actually had no clue what kind of mermaid story this was going to be.

basically in fiction you typically find 2 kinds of mermaids - ones that focus more on looking aesthetically pleasing, and ones that focus more on drawing connections to actual sea life. I wanted to try and do both, so while he is outwardly aesthetically pleasing, especially from afar, when you get closer you notice more nonhuman features, like sharp teeth

mermaids in my version of this au are mammals, so i want to stay away from actual fish when making comparisons to other marine life be prepared to learn a lot about dolphins in upcoming chapters 

i drew out the first version (top with the lighter fluke) because i literally had no clue what exactly i wanted a mermaid komaeda to look like. i had ideas but couldn’t pin them down enough to write out a proper description for him. the second version is slightly more accurate. i knew i wanted a tail similar to a humpback whale’s so i took the basic shape and rounded it out a bit more

there will probably be more sketches of him because there are some details i decided on that aren’t included here, liked the webbed fingers and such

my greatest writing flaw is that i am incapable of writing a short one shot. the build up and flow has to be PERFECT or else im not posting it ever

anyways mermaeda fic is probably gonna be like 30,000 words

Very excited about how the roleplay is going, so we should have a nice slow burn komahina fic at the end of it! I’m having a very fun time making up a language and culture for merfolk,,, plus doctor Hajime kind of hot though 😳👉👈

starting in roughly ten minutes, at the beginning of the hour, i will begin the fated celamoon challenge (TM) and write without care or abandon. i may develop carpal tunnel in the process, but that’s a chance im willing to take. here is my starting word count:

got teary eyed thinking about food as a love language and am now fighting to find a way to squeeze it into the mermaid fic

quick mermaeda is about to appear in the fic on a scale of one to ten how Creature (behavior wise) should he be.

one being regular komaeda with a tail and ten being a shape of water type situation (HE’D STILL LOOK LIKE KOMAEDA AND BE A MERMAID JUST FERAL)
