Sedna, the goddess of the sea and marine animals in Inuit mythology. The story of Sedna, which is a creation myth, had many versions, but most involved the chopping of her fingers which transformed into the seals, walruses and whales hunted by the Inuit. A shaman visits her and combs her hair to placate her anger, and release the sea life tangled in the strands of her hair.
