Surprise! The deep sea merms from part 1 are none other than Fen's big sisters ("big" meaning both in age and in size lol) :)

Their designs here are placeholders/concepts, not official designs. I was more interested in the plot and interactions than appearances for this comic.

Though all the sisters love each other, sometimes Fen feels like the outsider because the others tend to baby her and can be a little over-protective (this is due in part by Fen's small size compared to other deep sea merms and by the several year age gap between Fen and the other 6, who are closer in age to each other). This issue is resolved a bit more when Fen is in her mid-to-late 20s, but it's one of the factors contributing to her decision to become "human" at the age of 18 or 20ish (still haven't decided).

Figured best to post for Mermay, little merm au of Peonie; Anemone

Based on a Glaucus Marginatus with some extra cerata inspired from the Dirona genus, she was meant to have a nomadic lifestyle floating around shallow waters to chase outbreaks of jellyfish and siphonophores. Like the Glaucus genus of her inspiration, outbreaks of blue bottles, blue buttons and other soft stinging things make up much of her diet, with a healthy supplementation of tidepool anemones on top. Doing so makes her give off a nasty sting herself, which helps when being fairly slow and squishy!

With the murder of the Prince, Juhi becomes the only heir with a number of newfound responsibilities. One of which is inheriting her now deceased brother’s private guard.

They don’t warm up to Juhi at first; no one believes this princess can handle the job and the team is still bitter about the death of their prince. See, they all loved him immensely. The moment of betrayal broke their team apart, now leaving it up to their duty to work together.

Of course that all changes as she wins them over one by one with her charm, love, and dedication. Remember, you can’t always judge a book by its cover 🌸
