Something that's hilarious about Death Note to me is that it features multiple people whose mindsets, beliefs, and actions would render them absolutely diagnosable if not for the fact that reality itself obligingly meets them where they are. For instance:
Light Yagami. Convinced he's perfect and can do no wrong and is the smartest and most special little creature in the world - actually the highest scoring student in the whole of Japan, perfect 100% on the National Centre Test backwards and in heels, near-singlehandedly outwits and defeats a rival who has the power and resources of basically the entire CIA rolled into one guy, etc, etc.
Misa Amane. Parasocial fangirl stalker of the most prolific uncaught serial killer in history - actually finds him, and gets to spend half a decade as his live-in girlfriend even though he doesn't even like her.
Teru Mikami. Believes from childhood in a higher power of justice that approves of him personally, and is convinced he can kill people just by wishing it - actually multiple people whom he thinks should die, mysteriously do so over the course of his school and university career. And then Light picks him for the Death Note based purely on his presentation on Kira fan shows.
Mero/Mihael Keehl. Runs away from a specialist institute for gifted children at the age of fourteen to seek his fortune, apparently not worried about all the things that can happen to teenage runaways - actually reappears five years later as some kind of high-level advisor to the Mafia with grown-ass gun-carrying men doing whatever the fuck he says.
Like, come on. Reality is just bending around these people's mental issues in ways that are legitimately fucking inexplicable.
