Looking over the city, now that is decked out with lights and greenery. It was quite beautiful in his mind as he patrol The Pillars once again in his starlight outfit hoping to spread holiday cheer. However, he couldn’t help but feel lonely. There was a pain in his heart. One that he hadn’t felt since she left for the edge of the universe and more so when she came back beaten and battered.
Petra had always been a wanderer. I guess it is to be expected. Aymeric thought before letting out a sigh. I miss her so dearly. To have her by my side during this time… Well it would make me the happiest man ever. To have her by my side, to celebrate starlight with her. To enjoy all the music, the meals, the treats, being with family, friends… Loved ones. His thoughts broke at the sound of children's laughter.
It’s the eve of Starlight, and night at that. Couples kissing and children filled the streets with laughter. The joy that he saw on the so many of the Ishgardian faces on the streets couldn’t help but make him feel the pain all the more.
What else could he do at this point. Aymeric knows it’s getting close to midnight mass and knows she might not be back in time to see all that there is for an Ishgardian starlight. Would she happily sing out in the streets or perhaps playing with the children’s in the streets. They could have enjoyed the stroll around the city and met up with the Fortemps.
What harm could it do. Aymeric thought as he started to head to the Fortemps manor.
As he approached, he noticed that Count Artotiel and Lord Edmont leave out of their manor. Pausing in his steps, the elder of the two called out to the knightly lord. “Good eve, Lord Aymeric. And Happy Statrlight.”
Aymeric looked at the two lords. “Lord Edmont. Lord Artoriel.” Aymeric greeted following a bow. “Happy starlight, to you both. No Lord Emmanellain?”
Lord Edmont shook his head. “He is still trying to make himself look good for mass. Such as he ever was.” He clapped his hands excited to change the subject. “What of yourself my lord? No Petra with you this fine the eve? Rarely do I see you without her by your side these days.”
Aymeric sighed only to be reminded of the reality of his beloved not being here. “She is on one her adventures I’m afraid.” He paused to gather his thoughts before continuing. “Is it normal to feel as such Lord Edmont?”
“As normal as breathing I think Lord Aymeric. For the woman that I loved I felt that when we couldn’t be together.” Edmont answered the lord, hoping to ease his heart. “However, I know Petra would be here if she could.”
“Father, we should get going.” Artoriel interrupted.
Edmont nodded and looked back to Aymeric “I give you me regards. Hopefully she will be home and in your arms.” He then took his leave with his son.
Aymeric wave the two farewell. Well I guess I should get ready. He thought before he started to head to his own manor to change into something more suitable for a religious event.
He came across the air landing on his way back home. An airship landed there. Aymeric was quite confused why an airship was landing at this time of day, even more so on the eve for Starlight. Bewildered, he stayed to see what kind of passengers would be trying to come in at this point and time.
A flash of green came bolting off the ship and towards him. Before he knew it, he was being embraced. The familiar touch of soft fur was rubbing against his face. Once he gained his balance and his senses from the whirlwind, he realized who it was.
“Oh Aymeric! I’m glad that I made it back just in time.” Petra excited to be back to Aymeric.
Aymeric with her at hand, picked her up and gave her sweetest kiss that he could. Breaking the kiss and stared deeply into her eyes “Oh Petra, I am so glad that you made it back.”
