she/her • late 20s • multifandom • BEWARE FFXIV SPOILERS • icon by @bluecaeriart • here's anything I find funny, pretty, interesting or inspiring. I love stories, no matter what medium they are presented in!
I'm waldwasser (she/her), multifandom blogger in my late 20s. I do art sometimes, but I'm mostly just here to reblog things.
If you're here for FFXIV, you can find stuff about my WoLs under the read more, as well as under their respective tags. It's mostly (vanilla) gposes, bits of lore/backstory and the occasional art piece ^^
Cute icon is by @bluecaeriart <3
Susumi Koizumi
Age: 26 at the end of EW
Race: dunesfolk lalafell/duskwight elezen
Sexuality: lesbian
'Canon'/main jobs: White Mage, Bard, Dark Knight
WoL status: it depends! Usually 'just' an echo-blessed member of the scions and backup to @rajian (who is the WoL in their shared canon), but I also enjoy thinking of her as the WoL in her own right.
Currently in: almost caught up on MSQ
Significant relationships: Rajian Koizumi (long term friend, now wife), Lyse (friend and former crush), Arenvald (B-team scion colleague and friend)
Personality: cheerfull, stubbornly optimistic, approachable, nostalgic, probably too forgiving for her own good
Backstory: Born to a prosperous minig family in southern Thanalan, Susumi's childhood was quite sheltered. When her father's shady business dealings led to the deaths of several workers in his silver mine (and he tried to lay the blame at Susumi's feet), Susumi ran away from home and made her way to the Twelveswood with vague plans to become a conjurer. After a nearly disastrous run-in with monsters in the Shroud, and a timely rescue by @rajian, she started her new life as a conjurer and woodworker, and shortly after got embroiled in The Plot of FFXIV.
Spent the Endwalker patches as a duskwight, due to an unexpected reaction to some magical root vegetables (you can probably guess who's responsible...). But I'm back to potato form for Dawntrail!
Fun facts: does woodworking to relax; hates fermented food
Hnaba Yascaret
Age: 143
Race: rava viera
'Canon'/main job: Bard, Paladin, Dark Knight
WoL status: is the WoL
Currently in: Shadowbringers
Significant relationships: Alphinaud & Alisaie (younger siblings/mentor-mentee relationship), Y'shtola (respected friend & magic theory teacher), Arenvald (friend, occasional much needed voice of reason), Haurchefant (start of a romantic relationship during HW), Yugiri (romantic relationship during StB)
Personality: driven, outwardly calm, focused, protective, should stop suppressing some emotions
Backstory: Born in the Golmore Jungle, she left after an encounter with a garlean patrol lead to the death of her partner. Since her home was too full of sad memories, she left and set out to travel the world. After about two decades of travel, she settled in the shroud, joined the leatherworkers' guild and became part of a Keeper family, where she took on the name 'Hnaba'. After a few relatively calm years in Gridania, the plot of ARR came calling.
Fun facts: loves coffee and making gear for her friends; hates (air)ship travel (she gets motion sick...)
if you are a parent, or may become one, or you are otherwise likely to arrive in the situation of caring for a child while they eat, promise me this: if a child doesn't like a certain food or food group, you will ask them WHY. and specifically, you will pay attention to either confirming or ruling out "it makes my mouth itch" or "it makes my stomach hurt," both of which are medically important info that children may not provide unprompted. which i know because this PSA has been brought to you by "i spent my entire childhood and much of my early teens eating peas and lentils while wondering why everyone else liked the Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation so much, like were they a bunch of legume masochists or something, before i finally realized that Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation was in fact a sinister demon appearing only to me, and her true demonic name was: Legume Allergy"
under US law, it's illegal for anyone who's not a member of a recognised native tribe to own an eagle feather. the penalty is a $100,000 fine.
14 years ago when I had recently moved to Alaska, I went hiking with an Aleut friend, and she pointed to a feather lying on the ground and said "hey that's a bald eagle tail feather, you should grab it!" and I was like "uhh I'm very white and that's very illegal" and she went "they're fuckin everywhere up here man. I have 20." so she grabs it off the ground and hands it to me and says "there, now it's a ceremonial gift from an indigenous person."
and I'm like, okay, cool, I guess this is how we do things in Alaska. nice.
so I keep this bald eagle tail feather around for years. display it in my home among other cherished memorabilia from places I've lived and visited, etc.
on a whim, I have just now looked it up. there is no exemption to that law for a ceremonial gift from an indigenous person. the last 7 years I lived in the US, I was technically a bald eagle poacher.
probably a good thing I don't intend to move back there anytime soon. I wonder what the statute of limitations is on bird crimes.
just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out
if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...
so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts
posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig
