Taking a sip of her drink, Y/n let out a loud sigh. She was currently seated in a small cafe near the university. She had originally decided to avoid Mika at all costs, but she had somehow managed to convince herself that Mika would leave her be if she faced the problem head on. “You haven’t changed a bit have you.” A voice sneered, interrupting Y/n’s present thought process. Taking another sip of her drink, Y/n only hummed, as Mika sat down. “I don’t want to waste anymore time that I already have looking for you, but I heard that Dai came into town to see you.” She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “And I’m sure he told you how much of a shitty time he had.” Y/n replied looking around the cafe. “He whined and complained that you’ve replaced him with his childhood bully.” Mika sniffed, leveling Y/n with a glare. “How many times do I have to tell you, to leave my boyfriend alone?” “How many times do I have to tell you, I’m not interested in your boyfriend.” Y/n sighed, giving the other woman a lazy look. Mika only scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“Anyone with eyes could see that you’ve been carrying a torch for my man for years now. You’re just some silly little girl with a stupid puppy crush.” Mika sneered, leaning forward. “Why would he want some virgin fucking loser, when he’s got me. Why would anyone want a virgin fucking loser like you.” She laughed. Y/n chose to ignore Mika’s statement, knowing full well that’s all she was going to focus on. “We can’t all go whoring ourselves out whenever we please.” She smiled, as Mika’s face flushed red. “Stay the fuck away from my boyfriend, or I’m going to ruin your life.” Mika threatened, reaching her hand out to knock over Y/n’s drink. She grinned in satisfaction as she watched the contents spill all over the table and Y/n. “Don’t make me come back here again.” It took everything Y/n had in her, not to reach across the table and pull the other woman by the hair.
Humming a little tune, Y/N made her way toward her new favorite café. She’d had a good nap, and now she wanted something filling. Making her way toward the shop, she sighed as she noticed the line. Making her way further down, she squeezed by a few eager women, gossiping about the one of the employees. “I hear he’s got a boyfriend, but they like to share.” one woman whispered, her eye brows in her hairline. Another woman simpered, as she giggled with her friend. “I hear he’s impossible to talk to, and he rejects every confession that comes his way!” Y/N simply made her way down the line, humming her toon and paying the other women no mind.
Walking inside, she was greeted by a frantically waving Atsumu, as he tried in vain to hold Kyoutani down. Across from Atsumu, sat his crush Kiyoomi, who looked slightly disturbed. “Did I miss the show?” she mumbled cheekily, digging around in her bag. When she found what she had been looking for, she set it down in front of him. It was a mini sanitizer clip that he could attach to his gym bag. “You mentioned something about your old one breaking off right?” she asked, taking a sip of Atsumu’s drink.
Her face scrunched up, as she shook her head. “Too much sugar tsumu!” Atsumu paid her no mind, as he tried to sit on the grumbling blonde he had in his grasp. A loud cackle, broke it’s way through the café, as a man with the craziest hair Y/N had ever seen made his way toward them. Tilting her head, she watched, as his long legs practically floated him toward their table. Mentally, she was cursing Akaashi and Kenma, for being 100% right on her type. The smell of Udon hit Y/n’s nose, and she felt herself salivating at the thought of having a taste. Luckily for her, Kuroo had stopped right in front of their table, mischevious grin spread over his face. “I was just kidding puppy-chan.” He cooed, wiggling his finger in Kyoutani’s face. The blonde made to bite it, only for Y/N to lodge her bag into his mouth. “Simmer down doggy, I’m starving and the nice man might not feed me if you’re being a dick.” Y/N whispered, eyeing the tray of food in front of them. “Oh, these are for you cutie. Kenma let me know you were coming! You’re Y/N right?” Kuroo asked, taking the plates of food and setting them out in front of her. Y/N could only nod, her eyes closed as she took in the mix of scents. “I’m Kuroo! Kuroo Tetsuro, the best barista around.” he declared, crossing his arms over his chest. Sakusa could only scoff, as he pulled his phone out to show Y/N an incriminating photo. “This was him just last week after we watched Banana Fish.” he stated. The picture was of Kuroo, cheeks red as tears streamed down his face. “Oi! That’s a doctored photo!” he hissed, trying to reach out for Omi’s phone. Y/N couldn’t help but laugh as she slurped up her noodles, the warm food reminding her of home.
-Kuroo is a simp. Send twt. He and Y/N hit it off better than he thought they would. He will not admit that he was kind of nervous to meet her in person. Omi and Atsumu didn’t really say much after Y/N showed up. Both men were too nervous, and later decided group gatherings might be best until they can find the nerve to say more than two sentences.
-Iwaizumi DID IN FACT remember Y/N. He had seen her around campus a lot. In the library, the abandoned hallways, the rooftops. Whenever he wanted to get a little bit of piece and quiet he always ended up in the same area as her. Iwaizumi didn’t witness the bullying first hand, but he had been there when she would cry later. He didn’t think she would want a complete stranger saying something to her, so he tried to steer it away from her when he wasn’t busy with volleyball and his other obligations. He always thought she was pretty, and he was secretly glad that his Kouhai reached out and made friends with her their second year.
-Kuroo can understand where Iwaizumi is coming from. They met in college, but they’ve been friends so long that they know each other very well. Even if it wasn’t Iwaizumi’s fault, Kuroo knows he still needs time to process everything. Kentarou has Oikawa’s arrival date marked for a beating.
-Y/N gave Kuroo her number after the shop had closed, and everyoneo had gone out for ice cream. They were arguing the merits of Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke. Y/N found out later, that Kuroo didn’t charge her for her meal, and is dead set on paying for it.(She’s not a freeloader). She’s also pleased she has an inside man to get her more ghibli merch.
Warnings: Swearing, Kindaichi gets bulled in the GC
MASTERLIST
THE ANTI-SOCIAL GHIBLI WEEB CLUB
-Y/N adored the cafe as everyone knew she would. When she found out that Kyoutani’s friend pulled some strings AND that they were Ghibli fans like her, she demanded a GC ASAP. Kenma and Akaashi thought Y/N was so sweet. They had to meet her right away, so after they saw her cosplay text they made their way to the cafe to meet her in person. Kenma was really impressed with her cosplay. Y/N hasn’t done much after that one considering she’s shit with a needle and her fingers hurt for weeks after.
-Kuroo is good with a needle and does all the costumes for conventions and Halloween. Precious baby Y/N will want for nothing ever again. Kindaichi is the most social of the group, but he’s invited cause they need someone to bully. Kenma and Akaashi have never met Kindaichi, but they do know of the guy named “onion head”. It’s absolutely hilarious. Kunimi does not feel sorry for his man.
-Y/N has never been to the Ghibli museum. She’s always wanted to go, she’s just never found the time. (and the fact that it’s kind of pricey). Kenma and Akaashi refuse to let this stand and have plans to take her as soon as humanely possible. After meeting Y/N, Akaashi and Kenma have placed her above their friends. (Including their partners). Y/N can’t wait to meet Alisa. Akaashi showed her some of Alisa’s outfits and she loved them. Sakusa and Rin have been doing a bit of cyber stalking, simply because they’ve both found themselves attracted to guys they don’t know. They saw the guys in Y/N’s tags and went snooping from there. Kenma and Akaashi told Y/N about Makki and how he was starting out as a c*m model, so she followed him, retweeted some of his stuff, and asked her following to go support him.
-What Makki doesn’t know, is that after he went to bed, Issei followed him, retweeted all his videos, and told HIS HUGE following to give Makki some love. He knows how difficult it can be starting out, and he’s happy to help someone Y/N herself believes in. Issei also thinks Makki is kind of cute. Iwaizumi has a presentation the following morning, and when he’s unsettled he and Kuroo cuddle. They feel like something is missing, but they tend to push the thought away long enough to get a good nights sleep.
-Tooru has heard so much about Y/N that he’s dying to meet her. Everyone in the chat is arguing over meeting her because they hear about her all the time. Y/N did in fact help Atsumu apologize to Sakusa, who couldn’t be mad at Y/N let alone the cute guy he’d been thinking about for weeks now. They exchanged numbers and have been getting to know each other. Sakusa really likes Atsumu, and Atsumu doesn’t find his shut-out personality off putting.
-Sakusa will expose Suna. He had a field day when he found out Atsumu had a twin and his twin was the hot guy Suna was too scared to talk to. Iwaizumi does know of Y/N and that’s all the group is going to get out of him. Y/N really is the reason why the cafe is doing so well before the school start. She and Yachi have been advertising it on the podcast and all their socials. Y/N can only help one friend at a time and Atsumu is the easiest friend to help LMAO. Osamu has seen Suna at the local convenience store a few times and he’s been trying to figure out if the other man goes to their school or not.
-While they were out, Tooru called Kenma and finally got to meet Y/N. He adores her, and they’ve swapped numbers and have made plans to facetime daily. Bokuto crashed their food outing so he could meet Y/N and she got him talking about his part time job at the campus gym. He’s offered to take her on a tour and get her a membership and she’s really excited about it. She also finds it hilarious that her friends have partner’s that are polar opposites of themselves.

Y/N L/N: Student, Ghibli Obsessed, Weeb. Childhood best friend of Daishou Suguru, Y/N has always been “there”. When they were children, she let him herd her along, “protecting” her from bad people trying to use her. When they were in middle school, Y/N let Daishou lead her along, following like a loyal puppy. For most her young life, naïve Y/N loved Daishou Suguru, and would do almost anything for him.
Iwaizumi Hajime & Kuroo Tetsuro: Friends, Sometimes lovers, one a barista with a part-time modeling contract; the other a fitness training apprentice, with dreams of working for the national team. Kuroo and Iwaizumi have been trying to find the “one”. Not much for dating, both men are surprised when they meet the elusive Y/N. Tamer of the wild Kyoutani Kentaro.
With the help of new friends and old friends, watch Y/N make her way through the world. Finding love, finding herself, and finally, letting go of the people intent on holding her back.

Epilogue
-Oikawa eat, sleeps, and breathes to aggravate Kyoutani. Usually, Yahaba is in charge of calming down his boyfriend, but when he’s gone it falls onto Y/N [the OG mad dog tamer]. Kuroo was joking about the dog whisper joke, but Kenma ratted him out anyway as payback for eating the last of Oikawa’s milkbread.
-Atsumu texted Omi to “Hang out” but it ended up as a jumbled mess of symbols and acronym’s. Kyoutani has been sitting at the cafe waiting for Kuroo to get off so he can beat his ass for the dog comment. Y/n’s naptime is never meant to be disturbed. Kentaro purposely left his phone at him knowing Y/N would scold him if she found out what he was doing.
-Y/N thought the joke was pretty funny and not far off. Before Yahaba and Kentaro got together, she was making sure he stayed out of fights and had a better lock on his anger issues. Y/N likes beefy guys. In high school she saw a guy in passing and thought he was really cute. She’d seen him a few times after, but was too nervous to say anything. His biceps were killer though ;) Akaashi and Kenma are menaces. Send twt.

HER ORIGIN STORY
Y/N let out a soft grunt, as she taped up the last box on the floor in front of her. From her hunched over position, she could see a small glistening object under what would be her “former” bed. Reaching over slightly, she pulled it out, only to be met with a keychain. It had stars and snakes, and a small picture at the bottom of her, and the only boy she’d ever loved.
Y/N L/N, had always been considered a “naïve” child. She never made the effort to go out and socialize, make friends, or doll herself up to impress anyone of the opposite sex. She found that there were other things worthy of her time, like Manga, anime, and the multitude of Ghibli collectibles she had procured over the years. Sitting under the sakura trees, reading a good book, or sketching out the landscapes in front of her, were things Y/N found the most peaceful in her otherwise chaotic life.
Constantly dealing with her mother, and her aunt. Her no nonsense grandmother, and all her judgmental cousins left Y/N feeling like the odd man out in every family situation. Dealing with all of those things, had been worth it thanks to the precocious little boy, that could never be bothered to leave her alone.
Suguru Daisou, was her neighbor, newly moved into the house next door, at the tender age of 7. He had been taller than most the kids in his class, and no one wanted anything to do with him. Rather than let it bother him, Daishou made his way to Y/N’s corner at lunch time and stayed there. Sitting silently, he passed his time talking. Uncaring of whether or not she was actually listening, he continued to talk. It had been a routine for the two of them the first six months school had started. He had been her neighbor, and her first true friend. Daishou managed to pull Y/N out of her Ghibli obsessed rants, by tugging her along and going on “adventures”, “Just like in that movie you love! With the giant cat thing!” He would call back, as he lead the way into the knee high grass. It would come as no surprise later in life, when Y/N would slowly begin to develop feelings for her only friend. It wasn’t something she was familiar with, as he was the only friend she had, but she never thought much about it.
Through the years, Y/N had fallen harder and harder for Sugu-chan. Unable to deny her feelings, as she watched him win over her family members one by one. By Daishou’s last day of middle school, Y/N had come to terms that she was in love, and she needed him to know. Those plans to confess, were thwarted entirely, when she watched an upperclassmen giving him a bento wrapped in silk, and a letter attached. Unable to witness the rest, Y/N left the spot she found them in, waiting expectantly for Daishou to share the “good news”. That good news came in the form of Daishou tossing the bento in the trash, and explaining that he didn’t have time for silly high school relationships; unaware that Y/N had originally had plans to confess. With that round about rejection, Y/N made the decision not to follow Daishou to Nohebi Academy, but to branch out elsewhere, with more peace and less heartache.
It was safe to say, that Daishou was not pleased with Y/N’s decision to move to a place like “country bumpkin Miyagi”, as he seethed and snarled. Gnashing his teeth as he continued yelling at her for her poor planning. Y/N simply let him go, unbothered by his behavior, too excited for the change of scenery. The change of pace country living would provide. He had been so angry, that he never even bothered to say goodbye. It had been a point of contention for both teens, trying to see who would outlast the other. In the end, Y/N caved, when she had; had a terrible first day at Seijoh, and no one to turn to. Daishou made sure to hold her decision over her head, the entirety of their high school years. Constantly reminding her that she’d never have friends like him. Coaxing her to stay home, instead of venturing out into Miyagi. It had worked, her first year at Seijoh, hiding out under the stairs and in the back of the library. Y/N was considered entirely invisible, as she made her way through high school life, no social life, no friends...utterly and completely alone.
Y/N’s second year found Daishou busier than ever, with being dubbed Captain of the volleyball team. He had informed her, he’d be unable to talk as they had been and he’d be unable to facetime. By that point, Y/N had been utterly and completely alone. Fortunately, [or unfortunately, depends on who you ask really] Kyoutani Kentaro had decided he’d barge into Y/N’s life and stay there. Even though Y/N deemed herself invisible to the masses at Seijoh, she wasn’t invisible to him. He had noticed her their first year, student orientation. She had a bunch of Ghibli buttons and a pencil pouch he’d been dying to ask about. He’d never found the courage to speak to her, as he knew he could come off as scary and intimidating; but he had noticed how lonely she seemed. His barging into her life, would be counted as one of the top five best days in her book.
Daishou and Kyoutani got along like oil and water. While Y/N dismissed Daishou’s attitude, his gas lighting, his manipulations; Kyoutani knew better. He absolutely knew that Daishou was a terrible friend for Y/N. Especially with the entire “love” thing coming into play. Kyoutani, with the help of some of the second years on the team, made sure Y/N was protected from Daishou. He was manipulative, and cruel, even if Y/N couldn’t see it.
“You ready to go?” Kyoutani mumbled, coming behind her, to see what she was doing. His voice had interrupted her trip down memory lane entirely, as she made to pocket the keychain. Reaching out, he grabbed it and threw it in the near by trash bin. “You don’t need him sweetheart, and you don’t need any of those memories with him in it.” Taking his hand in her own, he guided her out of the room, as one of the movers went in to grab the last box. “We’re going to go make better memories.” He whispered, squeezing her hand tightly. Y/N could only smile, squeezing back, as the two friends walked toward the exit. While she had always been considered naïve, Y/N was sure this decision was for the best.
It was time for her life to really start.
Ch.1
-This is a look at a part of Y/N’s “Origin Story”. Throughout the story there will be more tidbits and pieces.
a/n: A reminder that I will not be doing taglists at this time
-The boys mean well, but Y/N thinks the whole “protection” squad thing is a bit much LMAO. Yachi and Y/N cried when they saw each other. Yachi is tired of all the smelly boys and she’s just glad to have her girl with her and away from shitty D*shou
-Osamu loves when Y/N is in town and he’s so happy she’ll be there long term. She’s not shy to trying any of his new recipes and ALWAYS hypes up his best dishes. Atsumu and Kindaichi are always doing stupid shit and Y/N is glad to finally catch it all in person.
-Y/N is really glad to be back in Tokyo, and she’s looking forward to all the new changes her move is going to bring. Makki got really sad when he saw Issei posting about Y/N, as he’s never seen the other man post about any woman besides Yachi. He’s just an idiot honestly, but leave it to Suna to dig up some dirt. You can BELIEVE Oikawa did some snooping. Iwaizumi and Kuroo paid it no mind, Iwaizumi because he was in the middle of trying to get Mad dog NOT to beat Oikawa, and Kuroo becuase he was working.
