Merryinn Blacksmith. 2018
Roadside Chapel VII: Finished product
Until I get a good day to get out and shoot this (too sunny), here are a few pictures of the roadside chapel.
I washed the base in brown and black watered down acrylic, and drybrushed a bit of Elysian green. Flock, and foliage to make it look a bit overgrown and forgotten, and flowers for color.
Total build time: around 40 hours.
Workbench Wednesday: Merryinn (Marion) Blacksmith in ten steps.
Roadside Chapel V: carving the prominence.
Pretty straight forward, just adding some height with a base, winding stairs for atmosphere. Spackle and filling is next. I’ll have to paint the chapel before it glues on so that I can get the inside as well.
Workbench Wednesday: roadside chapel.
I finally got a new sheet of half inch foam, so I’m starting a new project, a little roadside chapel. Not a full on big church, just a small place for travelers to pray before continuing their trips. First step is the hex end of the chapel.
Roadside Chapel IV: ruining the chapel.
Best way to build ruins? Build a full structure, then ruin it. I cut along the line, but not all of the way through. Then went through and broke off the upper parts. I broke a few glue joins as well, so no I’m back to waiting for glue to dry again.
Years ago, like, 15 years ago, I made a little church, and then smashed it. But I never really did anything with it, so this is me revisiting that idea.
As with the rest of Merryinn, the blacksmith is perched on a small prominence to afford some protection. Basing with one inch green foam.
