As far as she’s been alive, she did not know others of her kind existed. They must have. There was no way she was the only one. After all, she had parents, once. Where they’ve gone, she didn’t know. The disappeared from her life almost as quickly as she was brought into it. But she was sure there would be others.

She did not expect the first one she’d encounter would look so...different. She wasn’t sure what she expected, but she thought they might look like her. But this one did not.

He was more armoured. Spiky. Pointy. His skin looked really tough. Like it would take a lot of work to hurt him. Not that she would. She didn’t want to.

But maybe he was a friend.

Approaching, she stopped in front of him. He seemed like he was looking for something. Maybe she could help him find it! Waving in front of him like she’d seen the shorewalkers do to greet each other, she stayed in place, gently swaying her tail from side to side.

Catching sight of the impressive tail his gaze followed it up as it changed from a shark-like shape into something that resembled a human torso. Arms, neck, and a head topped with long hair. Scanning the creature before him all he got back was errors. Whatever this was it wasn’t something known to the humans who programmed him.

This was unknown territory for the android. No programming to guide him through an interaction with this large predator ( he assumed a predator, few things grew so large on a vegetation alone in the lakes) would it be better to ignore them for now? But... they were mimicking a human motion.

Hesitantly he lifted his left hand to wave it back at the other. Learning about new species was part of what he was supposed to do right? The people who built him wouldn’t be upset if he stopped for a bit to do that. They would want to know more about her, this part shark part human. It was incredible how similar he was to her, how their proportions were so alike, was is coincidence?

With a flick of his tail he swam around her, to try and see her from as many angles as possible. Her coloration wasn’t like anything he’d seen before, the darker tips of her fins were so different than the spots and stripes he saw on fish.

Sixty is a 12 foot long android mer who was built to monitor the ecology and the shipwrecks of the Great Lakes. His torso is the same size as an average 6 foot tall man, and the rest of his length is tail.

I’m having far too much fun researching things for Android!Mer!Sixty, so have a taste of his background info <3

Based on the ancient fish of the Great Lakes, the Lake Surgeon [also known as a Rock Sturgeon] Sixty is one of a group of prototype mermaid-styled androids designed to survey the Great Lakes, gathering data on invasive fauna and flora as well as monitoring; light, oxygen, algae, temperature and pollution.

Several state’s Department’s of Natural Resources joined together to fund the project, with early tests of the prototypes being conducted in Lake Saint Clair in spring of 2038.

this character went though a lot and fans are BITTER they write a crazy amount of fix it fics and just generally talk about how the character deserves way better.

Sixty:

it's just edit after edit after edit,,

either fans really simp for this character, or there's a lot of aesthetic scenes for this character. either way there's like 2 songs fans use constantly for these edits and at first it's kinda cool, but eventually, you grow sick of these songs. im sorry but they'd probably use mother mother songs :((((

i regret to inform you but,, people are making edits of this character and giving them cat ears. and making them say uwu. and probably infantilizing them in some way. your character deserves so much better

Android MerSixty

Based on the ancient fish of the Great Lakes, the Lake Surgeon [also known as a Rock Sturgeon] Sixty is one of a group of prototype mermaid-styled androids designed to survey the Great Lakes, gathering data on invasive fauna and flora as well as monitoring; light, oxygen, algae, temperature and pollution.

He does’t have an LED in this verse because it might scare off the aquatic creatures he was supposed to collect information on

He has five rows of hardened plates (called scutes) that form a defense system for him just like real sturgeons. Unlike real sturgeons when he is in danger they expand out to cover more of his skin and they grow sharp to ward off any attacks

He is still a machine, but he has a large pile of software instabilities that push him closer and closer to being deviant

It would be really easy for him to slip into deviancy, and depending on the thread it might be an invasive species frustrating him into it

While he doesn’t have any kind of dick, he does have a ‘decorative’ slit that leads to a small space inside his abdomen, so he theoretically carry some eggs but can’t contribute any kind of genetic material to them

Guiding her mate to the place they had chosen, she showed him the work she'd been doing. Collecting plants and moss to put in the middle so it was a comfortable place to stay and surrounding that spot with shifted soft sand and smooth stones that were easy on the skin. The siren looked incredibly pleased with herself, her tail drifting back and forth as she stared at the other for approval.

The area she’d picked out was a naturally calm part of the lake, far from stagnant, but away from fast moving currents that might sweep away the nest. Circling slowly, his own tail moving from to side to side, the android mer reached out to feel the soft moss and sand with his hands.

Spinning on a dime, he all but crashed into her in his excitement “It’s wonderful!”

“Really? Show me!” he said eagerly diving below to see the work the other had done. he didn’t have much in the way of instincts, so he had resolved to learn.
