Bonus Day: Katz Korner (Free Choice) - Mermaid AU Late

My friend told me to post it since she doesn’t know when she’ll be able to write for this day so here it is! My final sketch for Sormikweek 2017 is an AU piece. Sormik exploring ruins! The walls obviously depict a story of a history long lost. It was supposed to be accompanied by a comic of them finding Alisha, but I didn’t have the motivation to finish it.

Some lighting practice with Mikleo's artes in the Mermaid AU. The lil bubble following them on ruin adventures and possibly even having a slight personality of its own. So don’t offend it, Sorey.  (Also imagine a barely visible kiss in the darkness, only outlines visible due to the bubble, the bubble shaking a lil from being flustered)

When your lighting game is amazing in sketches only, finally did that mersormik thing tho.  I’m even getting ideas for it, but no one to talk it over about. So might or might not draw more. Also, mermay? Mermay. *goes to hibernate for another few weeks till exams and all are over*

Kinda trying out designs before I start to draw more of this au, how do clothes work on mermaids?? Like are clothes even necessary? They'd certainly give a better variety for the girls tho. Plus I like to think they wear clothes only for special occasions such as formal events, battles and etc. But we'll see if I scrap that.  Also kinda made a sort of difference between ''human'' and ''seraph'' characters by making seraphs more fish like in a way. Sorey being a dolphin, thought of making Alisha one too and Rose like an orca? Mammals of the water world basically. Or such... I’m not too knowledgeable on underwater creatures and no time to really research so... (btw Mikleo was kinda inspired by the angel fish, it’s a freshwater fish, but you know, I’ve got a lot to work out hahaha) (also drawing Sorey as a dolphin was tots like drawing Sora from KH in his mermaid thing lol). But all in all my sketch game got better.  Ideas are totally welcome, I might not answer but I do read your comments and I’m thankful for them!

Alisha design concepts for the mersormik au (I need to give it a proper name not just mersormik lol). She caused me trouble... I’m still kinda ?? about whether to give the girls clothes or not, but I came to an idea that the ‘’seraphim’’ basically look really regal and elegant cause they’re more fish like, meaning scales and fins and all can be everywhere and even look like clothes while they’re not. Whereas ‘’humans’’ (dolphins, whales etc.) look rather simple in design, cause dolphins and such generally don’t have anything adorning them, so they use clothes and accessories and such to beautify themselves. Kinda like people in general. (and since Alisha generally doesn’t use many accessories...) I also got this idea that they’d even have fins on their upper body, but that the ones who live in a society and are knights and such, get rid of their upper body fins so that they can fit full armor and clothes better. Meaning Sorey and other such mermaids living away from society would still have fins and such on their elbows, wrists and back etc. So don’t get surprised if I draw Sorey with wrist/elbow fins ahhaha As for the clothes... I don’t know? I liked Alisha both without the top and with it. Though she’d definitely have a bag or such with the crest of the royal family she’s from and her dagger. And well, I don’t see mermaids really much caring about topless females or males so...  I would also like to do big mermaids somehow. Like WHALE sized ones. And malevolence creatures would be a mixture of deep sea fish that live in the really really deep parts of the ocean and some other animals. And since she’s done, I can actually start draw sketching lil comics finally. But that will really have to wait till I’m done with everything college. And again, any ideas and all are 1000000% welcome. Especially AU name ideas hahaha

It’s time to go back to sormik hell for myself a bit and do a commission after doing all the projects and zine work.  Look forward to seeing more of this AU and probably some more cause I love the designs and these two are too fun to draw.
