So once things get approved on TSR I’ll be uploading my simblreen gift for the public, bUT i wanted to show some screenshots of successes and failures i took while I was working on the Cleves Dress. Under the cut because it’s a long post lmao.
Me not understanding transferring paint weights:
Me getting the paint weights down but not understanding cut numbers and mesh groups in s4s and blender:
Me not clearing the normal map for the previous mesh in S4S oops. (picture and amelie courtesy of one of my lovely testers @slothseasims)
Me not editing the shadow map properly:
Me not including all LODS (picture courtesy of one of my lovely testers @colourfullsims)
Me struggling with what I was doing wrong with the final LOD when the other ones were fine. Tears were had.
PROBLEM SOLVED BEETCH
Me overcoming everything I had done wrong and the exact moment I started crying tears of joy that I had made CC:
Cleves Dress coming soon!
downloaded some plugins for paint.net, and this is the buns hair in the first version without the strands :)
also i’ve been thinking i will redo by cc preview style so i don’t have to spend so long on each image XD i will have a small colour pallet of 6 colours with each hair to keep consistency :D and i might make the preview a gif so you see the front of the hair then the back :)
Looking good so far! Reasonable poly count even.
HOWEVER: Does anyone have a good tutorial for uv_1, especially for blender 2.79 or so? I did one following Alerii's video tutorial and it made it look SIGNIFICANTLY worse in CAS, so right now it doesn't have one.
I'd also appreciate any advice on weight painting, since this isn't hair, it's flesh, so it should both move more heavily but also ideally not deform too hard. Predictably it looks fine on average sims but on max fit/fat or min fit/fat sims there are weird jaggedy bits.
These two randos I generated look fine. These two not so much:
Below is what I have for b_Head_ and b_Spine2_ respectively. If there's something glaringly wrong I'm not practiced enough to spot it yet, beyond a general 'the colors should be different probably'.
I think between me being new to weight painting/the lack of a uv_1 it's Struggling to deform correctly, so like I said, any advice or links to resources would be stellar.
get it stellar it's aliens
