Yesterday was the day. The opening and closing day of Seven Mesostics re: The Trees & Not The Trees. Jeannie sang the mesostic poems for the public who came to visit Arthur Boyd's home on the Open Day (the property only opens Sundays for the general public). She totally transformed and brought to life the short texts and I really enjoyed watching her perform. Most of the public did too, save for a few ladies who just seemed too hot and bother and left in the middle of it, very uptight, sort of menopausal. Their loss.
I've uploaded a couple of performances, the sound only. I haven't edited them yet - these were recorded with my camera and the microphone is terrible, plus it was a very windy day with gusts of around 35 km/h. It sounds much better on my dictaphone/mp3 recorder, but I don't have the cable to plug it in to my computer here, so it will have to wait until I get to London.
The plan now is to write a few more and to continue with this collaboration from Melbourne (where Jeannie lives) to London. I still want to do them physically and place them by the foot of each tree, maybe for next Sunday, but there is also the possibility of Jeannie recording a CD for the trust. Fun times.
