Hey, I really like your builds but I dont know how to do the small details, is there a thing that builders do for detail? Im quite new and need some help, thanks!
heyy! thank you! :D
yeah! details can be tricky to approach... you don't really know what's too much detail and what's too little detail. when i'm doing details, i always look at my reference and ask myself, "what can i see right now?" and look at the different shapes in the reference. also look at how the they add depth to the overall building such as the photo in this one below. you can see the cast stone quoins that add give really nice shape to the corners of the house - so i add it! build what you can generally see and then take a look at your build as a whole, look for areas where you think it's lacking a bit of shape and think about how you can enhance those areas. if you're unsure, cross-reference with other photos of a similar project and see how it was done there. if you like the idea, add it to your own. for example, the windows in the photo attached below, you don't see much trim going on. search up some window trim designs and find something fitting to what you're building! always make use of different references to add on and enhance what you already have.
build the details/add parts in a way that will enhance the shape and overall depth of your project/whatever you're adding detail to! not sure what to add? look up other references and mix them together with what you have!**
here's an example of what my reference board might look like if i built this house below!
