i've already said my thoughts about this on this post, but essentially - i tried making my own tiktok account to clear things up in the comments (bc people were still asking for the source anyway) but immediately got banned for (presumably) mentioning/linking to my tumblr. tiktok fucking sucks.
this reposter is also inconsiderate of artists as well - during the short time before i was banned, i tried to privately confront them in their DMs about me being unhappy that my art was reposted without my permission, but they completely ignored me in DMs and just hearted one of my public comments. it's clear that they don't care about artists at all.
i've gone and added this footnote to the end of the original comic post:
if i end up making any followup/sequel comics, i'll be adding this to those as well - reposters might just ignore it and do it anyway, but if this footnote gets removed in a repost, people will know the comic was stolen from the original.
i know the professor oak comic has universal appeal because NaN and the surfer aren't mentioned by name in the comic, so NaN can be interpreted as a generic representation of a missingno, and surfer can be mistaken as red - but they are still my characters, and it sucks that tiktok's never gonna know that. but if i make a sequel comic in the future, i'm going to make that a lot clearer. that way, if it gets stolen too, at least people will know she's NaN the missingno, not just "missingno", yknow?
it sucks that i can't do more about the tiktok situation, but i'm deciding to let it go, as much as it pisses me off. all i can do is make it clear in my future works that i do not want my NaN art reposted out of context. it might still happen anyway, but the least i can do is make it clear that i didn't give my consent for it.
