Sort of? Although not entirely. Basically, I’m not as impressed by aro and/or ace 'representation’ (or nonbinary representation, although that wasn’t mentioned in the initial post) when the character is not human, because it’s still somewhat otherizing the identity. Having a robot be aro is often used to draw a contrast and show how different they are from the humans who ‘know how to love’, or an ace alien characterizes them as frigid and again non-human, etc. etc. In my opinion - and this is not an opinion everyone shares! - although it is nice to see my identities reflected in characters in general, it doesn’t mean the same thing as seeing those identities shown as a normal part of the human experience, rather than something found in the ‘strange’ or inhuman.
