just fyi, you can become a pj immediately in the air force, and in fact, most pjs, combat controllers, etc, are promised their jobs before they even ship, and are therefore placed into specific squadrons/flights during basic. also, airman's week is a VERY recent change; it didn't exist when i went to bmt at the end of 2013. the length of bmt has changed several times over the years. it may have been as little as 6.5 weeks when sam went, or the same 8.5 weeks i got.

So I am currently rewatching TSOT and I felt there was something odd in the conversation between Sherlock and Mycroft just before the speech. 

Mycroft: So this is it then, the big day. I suppose I’ll be seeing a lot more of you from now on.

Sherlock: What do you mean?

Mycroft: Just like the old times.

Fast forward and then...

Mycroft: Do you remember...Redbeard?

Sherlock: I’m not a child anymore, Mycroft.

Okay so what does this entire conversation really mean? Did  Sherlock seek comfort from Mycroft when Redbeard (as literal dog) died? If not, how does this fit in to the Redbeard=The Other One theory? Or am I just reading way too much...

I’m tagging cupidford, wellthengameover, loudest-subtext-in-television as well as anyone who can finally clear up a few things. I know you guys have plenty to do but what do you think? Thanks!
