the important is that the story states that the quake 3 ai learns, considering that the ai doesnt have neural networking, which means the ai doesnt learn to be better. if the most important fact isnt even true, why would you believe the story at all

iirc the ai does 'learn' in the way that it tries to find the bots that do best but that's just random generation with natural selection that's like generating a bunch of random numbers and finding out which one is highest

the ai just malfunctioned after being on after so long. the ai doesnt use neural networks

that would be a good explanation except for the fact that the ai started up again when they killed someone and stopped when the bots killed them in the story
