Following on from my random Tonks is an artist hc/thought from like 3 weeks ago

au where Tonks dies in the final battle and Remus doesn't - and then a month later he finds a self-portrait that Tonks had painted and tries to enchant it so that it talks.

He spirals into madness to get it to work and spirals further into delusion when he finally gets it. Juggling raising Teddy on his own and coveting the portrait of his dead wife as though she's the real thing, getting further and further isolated and detached from reality.
