E2 Harrison Wells x Meta Reader- Chapter 3 (Flash)
"Miss Morales, I don't appreciate you falling asleep during my lectures. " Upon receiving your paper back, all you muster is an impish smile.
"I-I'm sorry."
There's a million excuses you can come up with, but you know that as much as you have to deal with right now, there are people facing much worse.
"I-I'll do better Mr. Reese I promise." He's well known for being a strict and stoic professor, so you're not exactly expecting a positive response.
"Good, I'd hate for one of my best students to suffer in my class." You look up, because that almost sounds like a compliment. His eyes are still trained on the other papers he's still grading, and you smile.
"Yes Sir!" you salute. Shoving the text into your bag you're practically skipping out the door he stifles a laugh.
Life wasn't going too bad. You weren't flunking your classes, you had a pretty decent job and you got awesome powers from an explosion that really should have killed you. Compared to a few months ago, you were doing great. Your phone dings, probably Cliff telling you not to zone out and show up late again. You pull out the phone, and the screen saver of the male has you stopping in your tracks. For a while you just stare at it. It's not until someone bumps your shoulder that you knock out of the daze. You shrug it off, sending a reply as you tuck it in.
"Five Months."
It still feels unreal to you. The heat that rushes through your arm startles you a little. You rush to the bathroom. The minute you get into a stall you're gripping your right arm.
"Damn it, stop, stop, stop!!" you're a bit panicked. It's been a while since that happened. There's a constant reminder about these powers. You can't ever afford to lose control. Breathing frantically, you try to focus on something, anything but the growing despair that has risen the moment you stared at that picture.
"One..two..three." you keep reciting it in your head. It takes a while, but the familiar azure tendrils are no longer erupting from your skin. They seem to slip back into your veins. The light vanishes as if it wasn't even there and you sigh, leaning your head on the side in relief. That was very close. Wouldn't be the best if any of the other students caught you, hands glowing. Since most of Central City cops had a shoot first ask questions later policy when it came to metas, you tried not to let any more close calls occur if you can help it.
Can't do much saving if you end up in a body bag. Your body feels altogether normal again, so you open the door, walking out a bit shakily.
"Get yourself together M. Don't wanna show up to work looking like a crazy person."
That's far better than blowing shit up in your opinion. A lot of your abilities are yet to be discovered. You honestly thought by now you had a much better handle, but your emotions connected you to them. Making it that much more risky. The last thing you wanted was to accidentally hurt someone.
"Hey." you blink, turning at the girl that approached you at the sink.
"H-Hi?" you're a bit confused. "Listen, I have no idea what you're taking but can I have some?"
"Taking..."
Wow. So she's thinking you're doing some kind of drugs. With the performance you just gave in the stall, you can see where she's coming from.
"Sorry, can't help you. Stay in school and don't do drugs." you advise rushing out.
"Oh come on, sharing is caring!!!"
Safe to say you avoided that particular bathroom for a while.
~~~~~~
"I'm here!!" Cliff knows better than to be surprised at your tardiness. "What did I say about being a late kid?"
"That you love me like a sister so you'll never fire me."
"Try again." He states whacking you over the head. You wince glaring at him.
"I see you woke up and chose violence Cliff." you raised your hands, striking a pose you hoped looked somewhat similar to what you'd seen in all those martial arts movies.
"Get to work before I decide I have enough employees.
"Yes sir!!"
You're busy at work the second you step inside. Dropping your bag behind the counter, you do your usual check, greeting some of the other workers. Working on cars, it's sort of your safe space. You don't have to worry about grades or making a mistake. Because this particular area is your specialty. For you it's as easy as breathing. Every part has a purpose, and they come together to do one job. Kind of like the human body. Another part of you knows exactly why you love it so much. Most of your best memories are centered around repairing cars. Although now..you no longer have the partner who made doing this worth it.
A sharp ringing at the back of your head makes you close your eyes.
"Not again.."
Whenever you get that feeling, something bad is usually about to happen.
"(Y/N)!!" you jump at the urgency that Cliff screams. He tackles you to the ground, and you don't have a chance to react. Your body hits the ground harshly right at the second an explosion goes off. The earth shakes, and a few of the items on his shelf fall down at the quake. You can hear screaming now, not just from inside the shop, but also on the outside.
Cliff inches up slowly to check and see if you're alright. You peek up, and he appears unharmed as well. The both of you rise slowly, and at this point, most of his employees have already darted out to seek shelter. Whatever had gone off had obviously hit close to the store, so staying here isn't the bet option.
"We need to move. " you instruct. Cliff is looking around to make sure no one is hurt. There's about five of you still in there. The other three individuals look shaken, but no injuries thankfully.
"Let's move." He heads for the door and you're all following him. He checks the area before he opens the door. Some cars have crashed into poles, causing a pile up on the street. People are screaming and scrambling around crazily. Cliff scopes for a safe spot, he marks another building ahead that appears good enough for shelter. After ushering the others, he turns to you.
"(Y/N)! What are you doing, let's go!" Your eyes have transfixed on a car that's on fire. There's another one flipped over on top of it. You could be imagining it but you hear cries. Not an adult's, but a young child. Begging for help. You look back at him conflicted.
Recognition of what you're about to do dawns on him and he shakes his head.
"D-Don't-" you take off in a sprint. You can't just stay there and do nothing. The last thing you wanted was for Cliff of all people to find out about you, but you have to risk it. A life is on the line. The minute you get to the car, you reach out, grabbing the edge of the bumper. With a yell you pull, moving off the other vehicle. Cliff just stands there in astonishment.
Once the bottom car is free, you rip the door right off its hinges. You can see who's inside easily. There's a young boy in the backseat, and who you assume to be his mother in the front, unconscious. The prominent bruise on her forehead makes you weary. Your eyes move back to the kid. "Can you move?" he nods hesitantly.
"Okay, listen to me carefully okay, I need you to unbuckle the seat belt and climb to me.
"I-Is mommy gonna be okay?" you close your eyes for a second.
"Y-Yes she'll be fine just please."
He reaches for the buckle, clicking it off and inching closer. You try to keep calm but the front of her car is still blazing. It's only a matter of time before this all goes wrong. "Come on kid, almost there." He grabs your outstretched hand, and you pull him out quickly, placing him on his feet at the side.
"Now go, head to that building over there. I'll help your mom." he shifts, reluctant to leave.
"Listen kid you have to-"
"I've got him." Your eyes lift.
"C-Cliff.." He hoists the kid into his arms. "Save her." you nod, and Cliff takes off to safety. Now you can focus on the woman. She's still not moving. Leaning over you all but rip the seat belt off. Inching inside, you carefully start to move her body. You've got a good hold now, so you move back. Heaving her over your shoulder, you move briskly away from the inflamed car. You barely take five steps away before it explodes.
The heat and whiplash send you flying back, and in one last attempt to avoid any kind of harm to her, you cover as much of her body as you can. You expect to go hurtling into the concrete, instead your body sort of slides on something solid, and cold. You're still holding her body with all you've got, and it takes you a couple moments to open your eyes and figure out just where you are. You do cautiously, and the white haired woman standing over you is not what you expect.
"Good catch." she compliments. She's smirking, what appears to be frost seeping from her open palms. Looking down, there's ice directly under your body. You can see what's left of the burnt vehicle. You take another breath, right before you drop your head on the ground in relief.
E2 Harrison Wells x Meta Reader- Chapter 11 (Flash)
"(Y/N), come on the juicy details, please tell us." From the moment you entered the cortex they were drilling you. Caitlin sits expectantly. Dropping your head in your hands, they both realize that the outcome was not what they hoped.
"Was it really that bad?" Iris feels awfully guilty now. "Iris I really don't think that..that he even sees me more than just a friend." It takes a lot for you to confess this. You've been hopeful until now, but at some point you need to face reality. Harry only sees you as the naive little hero that he has to keep in line.
"(Y/N) trust me I'm sure he does see you as more. I've seen the way he-"
"That doesn't mean anything!"
It's not her fault, you know that. But their little experiment has caused heartache at your expense. Now you feel further away then when you started, all because of that stupid movie night. The object of your affections walks in, and the silence that follows confuses him. If he didn't know any better he would have sworn you all were talking about him.
"I need to get something for Cisco."
That's all you say as you walk away. Caitlin and Iris exchange a look. Harry moves closer to inquire on the strange behavior. He wasn't under the impression that he'd done anything wrong. You were fairly tense last night, but he wrote that off as you just being a little put off by the lack of company. He tried his best not to take it personal, but it was hard. He cared for you, more than he should. More than he was willing to admit to anyone.
"Is Morales alright?"
Neither woman knew what to say. Iris felt bad as it was, she didn't want to do anything else that would damage your relationship. "She's fine. Just a rough day at work." Iris murmured. Caitlin caught on, advising Harry not to worry as they both left.
Harry wasn't the best at social cues, but he knew enough to pick up on whatever it was they all apparently thought he shouldn't know about.
Staying at STAR Labs was really working on your nerves, so you thought why not get a coffee while the city was not being attacked by some super villain. Standing in the line at Jitters, you finally approached the counter, giving your order.
The cashier smiled at you kindly, taking the order, readily making your drink. You stood leaned on the counter, awaiting your drink. The daydream of Harry just kept streaming over and over in your head. Being away from the lab was supposed to deter your infatuation, but nothing was helping.
How could you go in there everyday with the way you felt knowing he'd probably never return them. There were points where you thought maybe a spark ignited, but that fizzled fast. Harry was the slow to warm type. Once you got to the core, he was caring. It wasn't extended just for you.
"Ms. Morales." your eyes lifted. The girl was standing with your drink in hand.
"Oh! T-Thank you." reaching into your bag for your wallet, you're interrupted.
"I've got it." The male voice wasn't one you recognized. Turning, you were positive you had no idea who this was. He was holding a ten dollar bill for your beverage. "I-I'm sorry, I really can't accept that."
"I insist. You looked a bit occupied, figured I'd be a good samaritan and brighten your day."
His emerald eyes twinkled, and you nodded shyly. You didn't want to be rude, especially since he was so handsome. Dirty blond hair, striking eyes, nice jawline and a pretty nice build. He had to be somewhere in his fifties at least. The cashier took the money and you smiled. "Keep the change," he advised. Thanking the male immensely, you step aside to allow another customer.
"You really didn't have to do that."
"Please, it was just one drink. " He flashed you a smile, and your heart did a quick swoon. You weren't chatting for that long but you could already tell he was a charmer. He held the door open, and you stepped out, taking a sip of your drink.
"I should probably introduce myself. Don't want you thinking I'm some kind of stalker. I'm Matt Letscher." he held a hand out, and you took it.
"(Y/N) Morales."
With a gentle grip, he shook your hand. It was possible you might have imagined the gentle shocks or electricity that rushed through your palm. Now that you really looked at him your mind seemed to log something.
"What's the deal with me and older guys?"
He had yet to release your hand, and you sort of didn't mind. You were the first to pull away though, giggling nervously.
"So umm, I've never really seen you around, are you from here?" Why the hell were you chatting it up with this handsome older man who was definitely too old for you yet, boy was he a snack.
"He's no Harry though.." you smiled to yourself for a second, until you realized.
"I'm pathetic."
Matt was watching in interest at the drastic change of expressions on your face. "You're an intriguing young lady." he chuckled. You sighed. Just great, another guy put off by your age. No wonder he bought you the drink. Must of thought you were some kid wallowing in her latest teenage drama. Why did you have to be born with such slow genes and a baby face?
"I hope you don't take offense. My intention wasn't to demean you. You're beautiful." You blush.
"From that look before I'm assuming your age is mistaken quite often?"
"You have no idea Matt. I mean I know women usually have this thing about telling people their age but I'm twenty nine. I'm not a child and I'm tired of guys seeing me that way, especially Harry."
You were ranting before you could stop yourself and it dawned on you that this stranger in no way asked for a full download on your life. You stopped at a bench, taking a seat.
"I'm sure you have better things to do than listen to my problems, I apologize."
To your surprise he sat down. "I don't mind hearing your woes, but I have to admit I'm a bit discouraged. I was hoping you would be single. But I guess it was a stretch to assume someone so gorgeous wouldn't be taken. " Boy, he was laying it on thick.
"Y-You're pretty straightforward Matt."
"As every man should be. If there's something I desire, then I do my best to obtain it."
His eyes skimmed over you, causing you to fidget. This guy was giving you heart palpitations. If you weren't so in love with Harry you'd marry this stranger on the spot. Your head lowers.
"I'm not exactly taken. N-Not that I don't want to be it's just Harry's a puzzle to me and I..." another defeated sigh.
Why would he care?
"I-I'm really flattered, but you really don't have to flirt with me just to make me feel better. " You felt cruddy as it was, you didn't need pity from someone you'd just met to boot.
"Are you really that oblivious to how attractive you are?" you're a stuttering mess now, because he shifts closer, leaning his arm on the rest behind your back.
"If this Harry truly cared for you he'd never let you wander around the woods so aimlessly. You might just get swallowed up by a big bad wolf. "
His low baritone sends a shiver down your spine, he's so much closer now. Your breaths mingle and you close your eyes when his lips press to yours. This was definitely poor judgement on your part. You'd met this man no longer than ten minutes ago. He could have been a serial killer for all you knew. A serial killer that really knows how to kiss. His hand brushes your neck and you tremble, letting out a soft mewl when his tongue slips through your lips. He swallowed up each sound, arm moving to wrap around your hip to pull you closer. You submitted, hands sliding at the lapels of his jacket.
Was this man dropped from heaven? After a few more heated seconds of lip lock, he pulled slowly. Your breath was coming in short puffs. Matt's eyes flickered open, at such close proximity, you could see his pupils were fully blown. Your eyes probably reflected the same. He broke contact.
"I apologize. You're in a vulnerable state, it's wrong of me to take advantage of that." He still had his arm around your waist. Harry and you weren't a couple, so why did you feel so conflicted?
"I-I..Matt..I." he shook his head with a smile. "It's alright. Believe me when I say I'm not here to confuse you (Y/N). "
"Morales." you jolt, and Matt's hands stay secured to your body. Your eyes widen when he pulls you into his side. Harry looks agitated.
"H-Harry!"
"So this is the famous Harry." you turn back to Matt with pleading eyes. He just winks, adding to your anxiety. You pull away, standing about to lay out your case. Harry steps closer, taking your arm and pulling you towards him.
Matt stood, placing his hands into his pockets calmly.
"You should keep your hand off what doesn't belong to you." Harry snarls.
Matt's confidence is brimming.
"From what she's told me she doesn't belong to anyone. Such a wonderful woman should be cherished. Don't you think Harry?"
His words are taunting, and Harry's jaw is clenched. You don't have to be a mind reader to know he wants to level this man's face into the ground. "We're leaving." he tugs your arm and you stumble behind him following. Your eyes shift back to Matt, he just sends you a smile, mouthing good luck. For a while you just gaze at him, then you smile, conveying your thanks as Harry whisks you away.
~~~
Ten minutes of walking and Harry has yet to say a word to you. It's uncomfortable. So you decide to speak.
"Harry I-"
"You kissed him." Those words are laced with venom.
"W-Well yes but he was...well I mean he was really.."
How do you defend yourself? You barely knew the guy. And back there he was purposely egging on Harry. Something told you it was more for your sake than his. Harry stops, turning to you. The way he leers makes your stomach churn uneasily.
"You made out with a complete stranger. Are you that desperate or is it just that easy for a man to get into your pants." Your mouth opens, and his comments make your heart pull. Was that honestly how he saw you? How dare he even say that to you.
"FUCK YOU HARRY!!"
This entire situation was his fault. From the tears gathering in your eyes he knows he's crossed every line imaginable. "I-I'm sorry that I got swept up in a guy showing actual interest in me. Y-You have no idea what it's like to be in love with someone who barely even looks in your direction. Somehow I always end up on the pining side, the one time that a guy is the least bit attentive you make me out to be a slut! "
His words cut deep, he understood that now. He'd also realize the severity of the situation. You were obviously self conscious. By trying to keep his feelings under the radar, he's inadvertently crushed yours. You'd never thought yourself unattractive, nor did you have a low self esteem. You knew you were beautiful, regardless of Harry's or anyone's opinion. You didn't need validation from anyone to prove your worth. You'd just wish that you knew how he felt so you could stop wasting your time.
"H-He kissed me and it felt nice because it's been so long since anyone has looked at me that way. " So caught up in your changing life, you guessed you neglected yourself. And deep down, you were lonely. You longed for companionship.
"You didn't have to go out looking for love (Y/N)." Wiping your eyes, you look back. Harry steps closer.
"I should have told you how I felt weeks ago. I kept putting it off. Every look you sent my way, I ignored it. I didn't want to deal with the pain I'd have to go through if I'd created it all in my head. I was afraid of rejection, so I kept you at a distance. I'm so sorry, for it all. I had no right to say that to you, it was wrong. It just pissed me off to see you kissing someone who wasn't me. You're mine." There was a brief moment when you thought this was another daydream. A cruel illusion conjured by your brain.
"You said my name.." you mutter. Harry doesn't speak for a moment, but slowly a smile inches on his face.
"Is that all you got from just now?" you nod. With a soft laugh, he pulls you into his arms. If this was another dream, you prayed that you'd never have to wake up because Harry feels like absolute heaven.
"I'm going to banish every trace of him from you (Y/N)." Harry's lips descend on yours without any warning, and you gasp, right before you melt into his body. He doesn't even ask for permission, his hand gropes your ass and you gasp, allowing him entrance to your mouth. You're grateful that the street had been partially vacant, because this was ranging on the border of public indecency. His touches are greedy, like you're something he'e been craving all his life.
Between moaning and trying to gather a breath, you're lost. His tongue is committing some pretty serious crimes in your mouth, where the hell did he learn to kiss like this. You grip at his jacket to keep yourself grounded, and when he finally allows you a chance to breathe, your head falls on his shoulder, body weak. You're hanging unto him because if you don't, you'll buckle right there in the street. He gives your cheek another squeeze, urging a whimper from you.
"No one is allowed to touch you like this but me, do you understand?"
"Y-Yes."
Harry's possessive streak is impossible to hide now, and you're loving it.
"Not the psycho speedster that stole the Harrison Wells of this earth's body and killed your mother then tried to kill you so he could get back to his time."
"Exactly!!"
"I need to stop drinking so much coffee in the morning." you decide. Barry just sits there, ready to answer any more questions you have. Your eyes are now firmly planted on the floor.
"I was there when it happened. When he..when my brother died. H-He killed him right in front of me." More than anything, Barry knows exactly what that's like.
"I lost my mother the same way. She..she didn't deserve it. And at one point I tried to go back and save her but I..I couldn't." you finally look up.
"I'd give anything to go back and save him. He was..the only family I had left."
The weight of that night would forever be engraved in your heart. Shortly after that, you discovered your abilities. No matter what you did, you couldn't stop yourself from wondering if you'd been able to protect him if your powers manifested sooner.
"We can't control what's already happened (Y/N). The reason I joined the CCPD was to find out who killed my mother. Even when I got the truth it didn't completely quell the pain. What does is the difference I make now. I help people now because I know how it feels to lose someone, and if I can prevent someone else from experiencing that pain, then I'm going to do the best that I can. Something tells me you started fighting for others for the same reason." Swallowing, you sigh. You needed time to think about it. Barry understood that.
"Whatever you decide, make sure it's what you think is right. " With one firm pat to your shoulder, he stands, walking out of the lab. You just sit there, unsure of what decision would be the right one. You wanted...no you needed to help people. But could you stomach coming in everyday and seeing a man whose face brought back all the negative emotions you were trying so hard to keep buried.
~~~~~~
"Kid, Morales!!" you turn, and Cliff looks pretty worried. "Oh sorry guess I zoned out again."
"You've been doing that a lot." Wiping the smudge from your cheek, you sit up. You weren't gonna get any work done like this.
"Go home."
"W-What I'm fine I just-"
"I said go home!" You freeze. Cliff is usually pretty understanding when it comes to things like this. So you don't get why he's suddenly mad at you. "I know for a fact you aren't okay, and I don't want you accidentally dropping a car on your leg or something. Come back when you get your stuff sorted out. " He takes the tool from your hand, gesturing you to leave. You're irritated, mainly because you know he's right. "I'm a quick healer, it probably wouldn't even hurt."
"What was that?"
"Nothing!" you hum.
"Yeah, that's what I thought. " With great reluctance you're grabbing your bag and leaving. You slam the door slightly and Cliff sends you a glare in which you just smile before running down the street.
Getting a safe distance away, you spot a coffee not too far away. Might as well get jacked on caffeine since you now have a lot of free time. It takes a while to get there. Opening the door you step in, relishing in the scent. The place is pretty packed, as you expect. So you go to the front to place your order. It doesn't take that long to get it either.
Handing the cashier your money, you look for a spot to sit and enjoy your drink. There's a seat at the back, but there's a guy occupying it, a baseball cap on his head. You really don't want to disturb him, but the other seats are pretty much taken. You make your way over with a smile. "Hi, do you mind if I.."
The second his head raises, you want to bite your tongue. Those blue eyes are almost chilling. He lowers his cup, a scowl on his face.
"Come to accuse me of another crime."
You could understand his annoyance, it didn't mean he had to be a dick about it.
"Trust me if I knew you were here I would have made a sharp turn into a volcano."
This is the last place you want to be. It's wrong to be spiteful towards him, he's done nothing to you. But every time you look at him all you feel is the helplessness that night brings back. The front you try to put up changes to defeat. Of all the people you could have run into, why did it have to be him.
"Calm down."
You aren't sure the reason for his instruction until you see the light that's slowly becoming visible down your arms. You drop into the seat, shoving your hands under the table.
"One..two...three."
Your usual mantra is being repeated. Eyes tightly shut you try to focus on anything else to deviate the energy that's building up. Moments pass and it doesn't seem to be retracting the way it often does. Your eyes spring open, looking in your lap, the light is far brighter than before.
Why isn't it working? You haven't mastered this area of your abilities and the first time you'd lost complete control you took out the side of a building. Luckily it was empty at the time, who knows how many people could have been hurt. You have to leave, you need to find an empty spot to release it. You're so caught in your little crisis that you barely process when Harry stands. Just as you rise to move out the seat, he slides in and your eyes nearly bulge out.
"W-What the heck are you-" he takes your hands, which just adds to your fear.
"You have to relax, from the way you're panicking I assume your powers hold some type of explosive component."
You nod, frantic. "Y-Yes that's why I need to leave now!" you hiss.
"And how do you think these people will react if you go running out here arms glowing. " He still has a soft grip on your wrists.
"You have to lower your heart rate. Stop hyperventilating and breathe."
"Easy for you to say, you're not the one who's a walking canon." you whisper angrily.
Harry tightens his hold on you, effectively shutting you up. His stare is almost paralyzing, you feel like you've been robbed of oxygen. He shifts closer and now your back is pressed to the glass. This position is doing nothing to decrease the speed of your heart.
"Breathe." He instructs softly. Eyes connected, all you can really do is obey. Your chest rises and falls in rhythm with the breaths he's taking. "In and out, focus on me." you can't do much more than that when he has you caged like this.
With each breath, you can feel the heat beneath your veins dissipate. Even when you no longer feel the heat, Harry keeps you braced on the wall. He hasn't made a move to create space. Now that you're not scared of blowing up Jitters, you register the warmth his palms emit. It travels all the way up to your spine. He has yet to look away. You want to say something, but you're not sure what words are appropriate in this situation.
E2 Harrison Wells x Meta Reader- Chapter 10 (Flash)
"Has he always been that built?"
Your gaze was fixated in Harry's direction. He was scribbling some equations on the board. Every now and then he would pause when he got stuck on something, folding his arms. Damn those dark shirts, why the hell did they look so good on him.
A better question, does glasses count as a fetish? It must have fallen under some type of category.
"Something you need help with Morales." You shoot up in your seat, nearly falling off. Harry doesn't turn fully, just looks at you from the side.
"N-Nah I'm fine, just thinking you know. This hero stuff is a lot to take in. Gotta stay sharp." Your failed attempt at a cover was terrible.
"Indeed, you of all people need the most help."
"Wow, thank you Harry. You never fail to make my heart swoon with your flattering compliments. " The sarcasm that drips from your words causes a smile to rise on Harry's face.
"Hey Harry." He hums in recognition.
"Why do you do that?" With a raised brow he turns to you.
"Do what?"
"Why do you address everyone by their last name?"
He stiffens, and you move in.
"Feels like even now you try to create distance between yourself and others."
"I thought your major was engineering." you grin.
"Don't need to be a psychology major to read you Harry." It's possible that's an unconscious decision. Cisco is possibly his best friend and he still addresses him that way.
"Is there a way you'd prefer I address you?" He's almost looming over you.
"No I..I don't mind. Just a bit curious I guess." You had no idea why you were whispering. This moment just feels so tender, you fear that if you raise your voice it'll be gone.
"Harrison." His eyes search yours in question.
"No one really calls you that, i-is it alright if I call you that sometimes. Maybe when..it's just the two of us."
"The two of us.."
The request sounds strangely intimate, but Harry convinces himself not to read much into it. There could be any number of reasons you're asking this. Somehow he hopes it's for all the ones he's thinking of.
"You can."
A very Harry reply, but it still makes your heart do a quick flutter.
"Guys!!" Cisco's abrupt call startles you.
"Ramon, must you be so annoyingly loud." Cisco wears a mocking face.
"You know what Harry, I was going to be nice and invite you to movie night, but now I think not."
"Movie night?" you ask.
"Yep! Caitlin wants us to all get together and have some good old fashioned rest and relaxation."
You perk up. "That sounds great, have you guys decided on where we'll do it? My apartment is always open to you."
"Say no more, your house it is." You're beaming.
"Great! I can't wait."
"I can't believe they all bailed." You can't help but pout. How dare they get you all hyped and then cancel at the last second.
Caitlin was the one who suggested the little team movie night, so you agreed readily, even offered to host it. Harry was the first to show up, so while the trailers were rolling, you were busy handling the snacks for everyone.
One by your phone kept going off, each person making a different excuse for why they couldn't show up. The first one you didn't really think much of it, but by text four you were sure of it, they planned this. Awkwardly walking out with a bowl of popcorn and two sodas, you placed it on the table.
"I-I hope you don't mind butter."
"Butter is fine." you nod, taking a seat. Legs close together, you sat there, tense. The movie already started.
"Are you uncomfortable?" Harry's statement makes you turn.
"I'm assuming by the tension in your shoulders that it's just going to be the two of us tonight." you sigh, nodding.
"Yeah..I'm sorry. I really thought this would be a team thing. I was kind of looking forward to it. But I'm glad you showed up, so let's just enjoy the movie. I'll give them a piece of my mind tomorrow depending on how good this movie is."
Harry is wearing a small smile.
"That seems fair."
So you lean back, forcing yourself to relax. He does the same, sinking into the soft material of your couch. You try to keep your gaze forward to catch up with the minutes you've lost, but you keep sneaking looks at his outfit. Today he isn't in his usual attire. He's wearing a dark blue star labs t-shirt and a pair of jeans. His hair is also a bit more tamed than its usual unruly fluff. Though to you, both hairstyles look good on him.
As the minutes pass by you find yourself totally immersed in the movie. You really should thank Iris for the recommendation. The plot is going pretty well too. You don't feel that bad that you've missed the first couple minutes since you were preparing the snacks. Harry is oddly quiet. You wonder if he's fallen asleep, but he's leaned back, just as taken.
So you shift a bit closer, just an inch, not enough for him to notice you hope, focusing back on the show. It's an older film, which is why you had no problem watching it. For you, most of the recent movies that are released seem predictable. You loved the classics, and since this was one you'd never seen, it was even better.
The movie carries on, and one particular scene makes you a bit stiff. The argument between two adults and the lack of distance, you have no doubt there's about to be a kiss. You're usually not the type to get embarrassed over such things, but with Harry sitting right next to you, it sort of amplifies your nerves.
This is the second kiss you're about to witness and suddenly it all makes sense. Iris totally set you up.
"How about I get us some more drinks yea?" you want to bolt out of there, just long enough for the moment to pass. Harry takes your wrist just as you're about to get up.
"I'm not thirsty."
"Are you sure Harry because I feel really parched, so let me just get that drink."
"Morales." He still has a hold on hand, urging you back down to sit. You bite your cheek.
"Sorry, I'm making this a lot more awkward than it should be."
"I've learned to expect that from someone of your age. "
He never fails to bring up your age.
"Harry can you stop with the age thing, I'm nearly thirty. I keep telling you guys I'm not a kid."
"I know that." His thumb brushes over your wrist. The action has you a bit skittish again. You're afraid to look him directly in the eyes, but you can just feel his stare on you.
"Look at me." you obey, eyes flickering to him.
"Harrison.."
He leans in a bit closer, palm resting gently on your cheek. He pulls you in, and the second your lips connect it's like magic. He's so careful, kissing you softly. Is this really the same guy that tosses items around the lab on a daily basis? His hand skims down your neck and you let out a moan. His hand keeps travelling. He stops right at your shoulder pulling back. You're a panting mess, but Harry looks just the same. He's smiling at the dazed look on your face.
"Morales." You blink. Looking down at your wrist, you realize Harry is holding it.
"A coke will do fine."
The dumbstruck expression must be puzzling to Harry.
"S-Sure thing!"
You run to get the beverage, and as you're safely in the kitchen, you lean against the counter.
"Please tell me I did not just imagine that entire thing."
Right about now you would have been fine if a hole opened up and swallowed you.
When you left New York city, you told yourself you were done with the crazy.
After aliens almost destroyed the place, you honestly needed a break. It didn't exactly help when you found out there were residual effects to your body when you recovered from your coma.
When some of the buildings collapsed, you just so happened to be there, working unfortunately. Whatever that blue light was that shot up in the sky that day, it erupted throughout the building, knocking you out cold. You woke up two months later with very little recollection of what was happening, and very inhuman abilities. For the first few weeks you decided to give the whole hero thing a try. The spider dude was running around in Brooklynn, so you thought why not. Now though, you needed a break. The robbers, convicts, killers, it was just too much. You needed a change of scenery. That's what brought you to San Francisco.
Unfortunately, life would not give you the satisfaction of relaxation.
"Get on the floor!!" The screams from the robbers made your eyes roll. It was always the same thing. It was even more pathetic that they were robbing a small convenience store.
All the customers seem to just drop on the ground, or cower in a corner, trying to avoid being shot. You were thankful it was just two men.
You're eyes focused on the guns in their hands, and they both flinched when they felt the weapons fly out of their hands.
"What the hell!"
You grabbed your bag that had a few tinned vegetables in it. "Hey douchebags!!" Both men turned, and you swung it harshly, knocking into the first male. He went down with a grunt, and his friend swung at you aggressively. You didn't even have to wave a finger, in a matter of seconds he was thrown all the way across the room, crashing into the counter falling ungracefully to the floor. "Punks." you mutter. You looked over at the elder woman on the cash register. You smiled at her. "Are you okay?"
"Y-Yes, t-thank you." you just shook your head. "You should probably call the cops. "
The men were still groaning on the floor in pain.
"Could you maybe keep what you saw just now between us." She nodded frantically, thanking you again. You winked. "Thanks!" just like that you were walking out the store like nothing happened. As you shut the door behind you, you looked at the bag, checking your products. "Aww damn that idiot dented my peas and carrots." You had half the mind to storm back in there and give him another smacking just for the fun of it.
"Excuse me!" you're head turned at the voice behind you. Squinting you stopped, assuming whoever it was probably needed help. The man that walked up to you was probably in his early thirties. Short dark hair, and pretty green eyes. From his figure, he didn't seem like the type to need help. There was something else about him that felt strangely familiar. Maybe you'd met him before. He stopped a few feet in front of you, ushering you to the side out of the way of civilians. "I just saw what you did in that store, it was incredible. I'd like to do a piece on you."
"A piece.."
"Wait a minute, you're that reporter that took down the company that was experimenting on people. Carlton Drake." No wonder he looked familiar. You'd spend the better part of your time catching up with the news in the community, and his investigations kept popping up.
"Yes I-"
"Not interested." You really hated reporters. You'd seen how much they exploited the spider boy, and he was just trying to help people. He literally could have been robbing banks with all he could do. People were just ungrateful little shits. You didn't see the need to stay there talking, so you turned, walking off.
"Wait wait! Okay I saw you knock that guy over, and you didn't even flinch."
You frowned. "I did no such thing. I think you were in shock sir, you really should get your eyes checked." When you felt him tug your arm roughly, you shouted in annoyance. He ignored it, pulling you into an alleyway close by. This guy was really getting on nerves. He looked side to side a bit nervously, and you folded your arms. You could take him out without so much as a flick of your finger, you just wanted to see what his angle was.
"Okay, listen. I'll be straight with you. I don't really want a story."
"I hope you're not thinking you'll get lucky, pulling me in a dark secluded area and all."
"N-No it's nothing like that." your eyes narrowed.
"I know you did that. It was really impressive. I've been looking out for this neighborhood for a while, I just thought it would be better if we worked together. We're the same. We both have something that most people have a hard time believing." That was hilarious. You laughed out loud, slapping your knees mockingly. "We have absolutely nothing in common, A-Are you really being for real now." you were trying to stop your snickers, but he was really making it hard. "You're some high class reporter living it up in a penthouse making money off other people's problems. "
"For your information I live in a very discreet apartment, much better than my last one. And I wasn't always a big shot."
"Riiiiight, well good luck with your future adventures. I'm not gonna be one of your little storylines. "
"Wait I'm telling you the truth I don't-"
"Bye!!" You smirked, turning your back to him. "Weirdo." Just as you were about to get out from behind the very shady building, something latched onto your hand and yanked you backwards, you yelled. Your body was now pinned to the wall, and your eyes grew wide at the black tendrils bounding your wrists. Right before your eyes, the shorter male turned into a very tall, black slimy looking beast of whatever the heck it was. Your heart was pounding crazily.
"I believe Eddie was speaking with you human."
You held your breath when it moved closer. When it's mouth open, all you could see was the very large row of sharp teeth. The grin that spread on his lips did nothing to help you. It sniffed the air, and it's white eyes squinted slightly.
"You smell different than regular humans."
Your adrenaline must have finally kicked in, because you screamed and his body went hurtling all the way across the alleyway, hitting the wall harshly. You gathered yourself, breathing heavily, and you could see that sick smile return to it's lips as it picked itself up off the ground. You felt partially paralyzed. As powerful as your abilities were, this thing was nothing you'd face before. "Interesting." His voice made your skin crawl.
"W-What the hell are you!"
"We are Venom." Wow, that explained a lot. You raised your hand this time, on the rare occasion that you had to use a lot more energy, just focusing on the object isn't enough. He must have figured that out, because he shot his hand out, and the black goo from his body flew out and covered both your hands.
You panicked, looking up and he was right in front of you again. Suddenly you regretted even trying to fight back. With him standing in front of you, your body totally shut down. You were struck with fear. "W-What do you want..." your hands were trembling, and you could tell he wasn't getting off on it. He liked it. The terror you showed.
"We want you."
Yep, you should have known. Today was definitely the worst day for you to get a snack. Next time you'd listen to your horoscope.
~~~~
~One Month Later~
It never got any easier, seeing the way Eddie changed when Venom took over. That day when they found you in the alley, you honestly thought he was going to eat you. You were thankful he didn't though. You guessed that's why you actually decided to listen to what Eddie had to say. It wasn't like you had much of a choice. Venom practically threatened to find you wherever you went. Running wasn't really an option. As you got to know them though, both symbiote and man, you came to realize they were one in the same. Venom was certainly a bit scary, but he wasn't really a bad guy.
Not that he was very good either. He was sort of, in between you supposed. Eddie was really kind of admirable. All this time you thought he was some money hungry reporter, but he actually took issues that most of society pretended not to recognize. His job helped a lot of people. So against your better judgement, you started helping them on their escapades. Your day job was pretty boring anyway. You were just a secretary at a city establishment, so you had pretty much a lot of free time. Most of his really undercover work took part at night anyway. Between chasing leads, and keeping the streets clean, you had to say this was the most fun you had in a long time. You never thought you'd get back into the hero thing, but with Eddie, it didn't seem as bad.
Tonight was pretty chill. He wanted to go over some robberies that were happening around the area. Mostly small businesses.
"I've been doing some work on the crimes in this area, and I think it's a bit bigger than random robberies. I've got pictures and surveillance to back it up. I'm going back to check out the place tomorrow. Maybe have a little chat with those guys."
"And by chat you mean your little friend is going to try and bite their heads off. "
"Hey that was one time and he was really hungry!"
"Mhmmm, I'm just a little worried one day he's gonna get hungry and try to eat me."
"I'd like to eat her another way."
Eddie ignored the comment, trying to play it off. Since Anne, he'd never really cared for dating. Sadly having someone constantly in your head was enough for him as it was. He didn't think he'd ever be able to share all of himself with someone new. Even though he thought he would get back with her, he was a bit happy that she stayed with Dan. He wasn't a bad guy, and as long as she was happy, he could be too.
Then there was you. He was never one for recruiting, or team work. But after seeing what you could do, he knew immediately you'd be an asset to his cause. At least that's how it started. Now he was starting to see you in a different light, and unfortunately those inner thoughts weren't just his now. Venom was never one to be discrete about what he was feeling, or thinking. Which didn't help him at all. How could he remain professional when there was an alien in his head constantly whispering innuendos.
"Come on have more faith in the guy." you just laughed at that, scanning through the pictures he had.You glanced around the room absentmindedly. This was the first time actually meeting at his place. Since at the beginning you didn't really trust him, you preferred to be safe than sorry. "I have to say though, I thought your apartment would be more flashy, but it's kinda chill. " It wasn't a huge penthouse like something you would have expected from someone with his type of paycheck. It was big enough, but not huge. And it sort of illuminated a warm homey glow which was weird. You sort of assumed he, or even Venom would have maybe, darker taste.
"Yeah, good thing you didn't see the last one. I'm glad I left that place and let me tell you, my neighbor had a serious guitar issue. Geez." you smile, bumping his shoulder. "I don't know, you kind of dress like a heavy metal player, he must have assumed you would like the music."
"Hah ha very funny." Eddie leaned over to grab a glass of water from the table but his hand accidentally nudged it instead. He winced preparing for it to fall unto his papers that were laid out, but stopped when the cup and water froze. The liquid twirled around and the cup started moving upright until it was straight again. When it was steady, the water dropped in all at once. He looked over, watching the concentrated look on your face.
"Woah, have you always been able to do that?" you shook your head, wiping the sweat from your forehead. "Nah that's new." you felt proud though, you were practicing for a while now. "Liquids are a lot harder for me to control. Any kind of element actually. Regular objects and even people are a piece of cake, but fire, water, even dirt. It's tough. "
"Wow, well thanks. You really saved me a whole lot of stress. These shots were hard to get as it was. " you started gathering them and running them into the folder.
"This is why we have technology mister big time reporter. "
"I know that." You just rolled your eyes with a playful laugh, and Eddie returned it. For a moment the both of you just sat there, looking at each other.
"Now's your chance Eddie."
"No!"
"No?" you questioned confused.
"I-It's the big guy, you know how he gets. I should probably go put these away." In seconds he was running off into the next room, and you raised a brow. For a while now he was acting pretty strange. He'd daze off sometimes when he was talking to you, or he'd say stuff aloud and then take it bad. You knew the alien living inside him probably made it difficult to differentiate sometimes with his mind and his body.
His case was so unique. He intrigued you. Not just him, but also Venom. You would have never thought you'd become friends with both of them. Though lately, you'd be having more than just friendly thoughts about Eddie. You were grateful you didn't have a symbiote, you weren't sure how you would deal with someone else dealing with all your sexual tension. You were barely handling it as it was. When you heard large feet thudding against the ground, you were a bit surprised when you saw Venom rounding the corner. You stood. "Hey is everything okay, what's wrong!" he only changed under dire circumstances.
"Everything is fine, I'm just helping Eddie." you narrowed your eyes.
"Helping Eddie, how?"
When he started to get closer, you found yourself backing up against the wall.
"V-Venom tell me what's going on." your back hit the wall.
Trapped.
His hands braced at your sides, and he leaned down, that devilish grin planted on his face. With nowhere to go, you looked at him. This was different from your usual encounters. You'd gotten over your fear of him a long time ago.
That didn't mean his actions didn't still catch you off guard. You worked side by side for a while now, but this was the first time you were this close in a setting that wasn't for some type of story Eddie was chasing. You couldn't stop your curiosity. Slowly, you reached out, and your hand rested on his chest lighty. Your fingers moved over, taking in the smooth surface. "It feels...kinda nice.." you mutter. Venom is silent, just taking in all your actions.
"She looks so cute, wish I could just kiss her."
Eddie's thoughts filter through Venom's mind.
"Eddie wishes to kiss you."
"What the hell don't tell her that!!"
You're a bit stunned, and you need a moment to process what's been said. Eddie is a nervous wreck. Right about now he wants to whack Venom where it'll hurt.
"And what about you?" Venom doesn't expect that, and neither does Eddie.
"Is that what you want too?" You have no idea what possessed you to ask this question, but it feels like you have to. Because to you, Venom and Eddie, they're basically one person now. To you, both their needs and wants are important. You've come to realize that if you ever want something more than friendship, then you must be able to accept both. Not just the man, but the monster too.
"Yes." It's a clear response, and you smile. You hand glides all the way up, taking in the way his eyes close to relish in your touch. You get up on your tiptoes, just to try and reach him. "Just try not to eat me okay?"
"No promises. " you give a soft giggle, urging him closer. Venom complies, bending slightly, and for the first time his teeth aren't bared. His lips close over yours, surprisingly soft. You were sure his teeth would have at least nicked you a little. At the moment you realize it's his tongue you should be worried about. The tip nudges your lips apart, and you moan when the wet appendage slips through.
For an alien he's a pretty good kisser. Your hand grips into his skin, and you're not even aware of a few objects that have started hovering due to your little make out session. You're so lost in the kiss that it takes you a minute to realize that Venom is slowly retracting back, and when you feel the familiar warmth of Eddie's skin, you fight a smile, wrapping your hands around his neck and deepening the kiss. Eddie's hands in turn lock around your waist, and he lifts you off the ground. You separate for a moment both laughing out loud. When you hear a crash in the background you jolt and he places you down to assess the situation. It dawns on you when you see the broken vase. "S-Sorry about that, I promise I'll pay you back." he just shakes his head with a smile. "It's fine. I kinda like the fact that I'm able to make you lose control. "
"Oh, don't go getting cocky there. Venom is a pretty good kisser, who's to say he's not the one responsible." Eddie feigns an offended look. "I'm appalled you would pick him over me."
"Of course she would."
"Shut up!" you can tell he's having another telepathic argument, and you just watch the scene, content.
"I can get used to this."
You guessed aliens weren't as bad as you might have thought. Some of them at least.
E2 Harrison Wells x Meta Reader - Chapter 13 (Flash)
“Something isn’t right.”
Harry was surveying the room. You followed his lead. “Are we sure this guy didn’t bolt? He is a sociopath. “
“Allen said he was last spotted here. Ramon is checking out his apartment while they follow the other leads. Just keep your eyes open. “ You nod. Harry wasn’t wrong to be careful. This guy had apparently killed a dozen people already. That was part of the reason you insisted on going with Harry. You didn’t want him tackling this guy alone. In the event that he attacked, even if you got shot you’d stand a better chance. Harry’s eyes drift over the papers spread across the desk, venturing deeper into the room, gun drawn. You paused at the desk, reading the information.
“Plaster, plywood, wax…”
A few of the papers had a list of different items. It didn’t make sense to you. Why was he rebuilding the room if he was about to go on the run. Picking up one of the sheets your eyes grew wide at what was on the document below.
“Harry don’t move!!” He spun around, and you flinched when you heard a click beneath his feet. He didn’t dare move a muscle, you could practically hear your heart hammering. “He wasn’t just trying to skip town, he wanted to cause as much destruction as possible. H-Harry the readings on the bomb, it’s gonna take out this entire building.”
“We fell right into his trap.” Harry mumbled. You were still trying to figure out how to get through this.
“Think, think.”
“Morales, Morales look at me!!” your head springs up, staring at Harry. There’s a soft look in his eyes.
“NO! You aren’t just gonna give up, you hear me, we figure this out. Barry went after him. I just need to call Cisco or Caitlin or..” you pull out your phone.
No service.
“No..”
Harry just lets out a sigh. “He must have set up a jammer in the room. He planned this pretty well. “ This would ensure that whoever got stuck here would not be able to call for help. By the time the police figured it out, it would be too late.
This couldn’t be happening. You were cut off from your friends, and who knows how long you had until that thing went off. The beeping under his feet seemed to be getting louder.
“Switch places. “ your eyes spark. “Harry we can switch places I can-” he raised his weapon, pointing it in your direction.
“I’m sorry, but you need to leave.”
“What…”
Harry reaches in his back pocket, and you’re puzzled at the small metal capsule he pulls out. He rolls it between his fingers, a far away look on his face. “Ramon and I, we developed this. I was concerned at your need to put yourself in the line of danger. So we made prototypes that harness breaches. Once triggered, it teleports the individual to any desired location.” His eyes hold so much that you can’t get any words out of your mouth.
“You still have a lot to offer to this team. You’ll be an incredible hero.”
“Don't you dare!” Before you can take a step forward he throws the ball at your floor. You yell at the portal that appears right at your feet. You’re falling, and your body smacks right into the floor. The blue ring disappears just as quickly.
“(Y/N)?” Iris is at the desk in the cortex, and the realization of what’s just happened hits you like a train.
“I-Iris you need to get Barry now!!”
She doesn’t question it, the urgency on your face is enough. Clicking on the coms, she phones him in.
“Barry somethings wrong!” you rush to her side, grabbing an earpiece.
“Barry he left a bomb and Harry’s still there he’s gonna die!!”
The loud rumble echoes in the background of his com. You stagger, taking a step back.
“BARRY!!” Iris screams. The fear has overtaken both of you.
The force of wind hits your back and you turn. Barry is standing there, with Harry at his side. The speedster is wearing a shaky smile. “We’re okay.” He assures. Harry’s eyes drift to you immediately, and you swallow, right before you are rushing out of the room. Harry is quick on your tail, and Iris all but dives into Barry’s arms.
“Never do that again.” She demands. He returns it, rubbing her back.
“I’ll try not to.”
~~~~~~~
You needed to get out of there, gather your breath. When the explosion went off, you’d lost not just your composure, but it felt like your heart had literally been ripped out of your chest. You were still struggling to comprehend what just happened. Your brain was putting it all together. The biggest part was Harry was okay. He was alive.
“Morales.” You did a full 360, turning to deliver a blow to his face. Harry dodges, but you don’t stop, you keep firing punches and he evades every one of them. It’s gotten to the point where you have his back to the wall. The last hit, he grabs your fist and spins around, pushing you to the wall with a glare.
“Enough!”
“Bastard!!” you want to slap him, pummel him. Anything that would get rid of what you feel right now. He looked back, watching the way your eyes watered.
“Why the hell would you do that? I'm freaking almost invincible, I could have survived the bomb!!”
“That wasn’t guaranteed.”
“You selfish prick!” He knew how you felt about being abandoned, yet he was about to give up his life so readily. “What is it about me that people feel the need to put themselves in danger? W-Why am I the one that always gets left behind. I hate you Harry, I HATE YO-” The warmth of his lips stopped your insistent rant. Your anger is slowly dissipating. He pulls back slowly, gazing at you.
“I love you (Y/N), and I’d give my life to keep you safe.”
Gaping, you just stare at him in shock.
He...loves you..
“Harry I...I..” your struggle is visible to him. He just runs his hands through your hair.
“It’s alright.”
He figures as much. You aren’t ready to say those words just yet. “I can wait for you.” He whispers. You hold him, closing your eyes.
Caitlin made a weird face. “I’m more like an experiment that my dad did. But my powers are similar to that of metahumans.“
“Well okay.” you were still trying to wrap your head around everything. After meeting them you made regular visits to S.T.A.R. Labs, especially after finding out they worked with the Flash. You wanted to help in any way you could. So whenever you were off at the hospital you’d drop by.
Harry strutted in with his head buried in a book. “Ramon I need you to-” his head raised upon entrance, catching sight of you. “(Y/N).” you brightened.
“Hi Harry.” Caitlin watched the exchange in silence. She couldn’t help but smile at how you always glowed when Harry entered the building. Maybe you didn’t even realize. There was also a different gleam in Harry’s eyes when he saw you. One of respect, that was for sure, but there was something else. Something she thought almost impossible for Harry to show.
“What were you asking for?” Cisco interrupted. His eyes were looking on the screen as he twirled a lollipop in his fingers.
“You know Cisco, your daily intake of candy is really high. According to my observations if you keep it up you’ll have-”
“Nope! Not listening, not listening!!” he shouted, popping the sweet back in his mouth as he plugged his ears.
“I’m just saying.” you mumbled. Caitlin gave a pat. “Trust me I’ve tried.“
“You seem to be coming by more and more. Surely the hospital isn’t that boring.” Harry observed.
You wanted to be an asset to Team Flash, that was for sure. But there were ulterior motives behind your visits. Ones you’d never disclose to Harry.
Before he could question further someone came running in. You were almost thrown off your feet at the force of the wind. Whoever it was grabbed you, taking off. When your feet hit the ground again you almost fell. The person grabbed your shoulders keeping you upright.
“Woah, sorry about that. I guess I should have given you some warning but this was urgent.” You turned to the scarlet speedster with a smile. “At least now I can say I rode with the Flash at least once.” he led you to where he said there was someone injured. You noticed the girl that wasn’t moving, you couldn’t even tell if she was breathing.
“I was coming back from my patrol and I just found her in this alley. I have no idea what’s wrong. I know I should have gone to the hospital first but if it turned out to be something they couldn’t handle it would be hard for you to get close without others seeing you use your powers. “ You understood. When you were close, you kneel in front of her. You did a preliminary check first, looking for open wounds, bumps or bruises. When you couldn’t find any you held your hands over her body. They glowed and eventually a golden energy seeped from her body into yours. You grunted when you felt a burning in your chest. You lungs felt like they were being squeezed.
“Asthma! “ you gasped out. It didn’t take long for the girl to start breathing normally again. She coughed, groaning as she started to sit up. Barry looked back at you worried when he saw you struggling to breath. You waved your hand, telling him to get her to the hospital. He was gone in a gust of wind. You sat there trying to regain your breath. Your airways felt like they were closing in on you. When the familiar feel of wind hit your face you looked up. Barry lifted you off the ground, taking off with you.
In a matter of seconds you were back in the cortex. He placed you on a bed and everyone rushed to your side.
“What did you do Allen!” Harry accused. Barry shook his head.
“S-She helped a girl with asthma. Now she’s like this. I had no idea what it was so I asked (Y/N) to help her.”
Caitlin started plugging machines to your body. You pushed her away. After a few moments you started to let out regular breaths. “I’m fine.” you sighed out pressing a hand to your chest.
Harry looked pissed. “You can’t just go around blindly healing others. I told you metas have limits. What good can you do if you’re dead!”
His tone made you a bit angry. “It’s my choice what I choose to do with these powers! You can’t tell me what I can and cannot do!!” you were furious.
“You’re a doctor (Y/N), I’m sure you know what happens when the body is constantly placed under stress. “
“Because I am a doctor I also know that when the body is introduced to a certain amount of pain constantly it adjusts. How do you think people improve when exercising? Our body is built to handle a certain amount of pressure. That’s how athletes condition themselves. It’s the same with me. You think I don’t know what I’m doing. I’ve been at this longer than you think. I’ve run every test, every experiment. So don’t stand there telling me what I’m capable of!!” you and Harry were full on screaming now. The three other people present in the room were a bit terrified to get involved.
“That doesn’t mean you aren’t getting affected just listen to me!!” He bellowed.
“WHY THE HELL DOES IT MATTER TO YOU WHAT I DO WITH MY BODY!!”
“BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT YOU!!” you froze at his words. He took off his glasses, looking to the side as he massaged his temple.
“W-We’ll just go, you guys look like you have a lot to talk about.” Cisco said awkwardly. He didn’t even use the exit. He opened a breach and Barry and Caitlin followed jumping in without a word. When they were gone you looked back at Harry. He still wouldn’t look you in the eyes.
“In the short time that I’ve known you, I’ve come to regard you dearly. It’s admirable what you do.” His words warmed your heart. From the moment you met him you felt like he understood what you’d been going through. Even that story about your past. You didn’t make a habit of telling strangers about yourself, yet something in those blue eyes made you want to place your trust in him.
You walked over, placing your hands on his cheeks as you raised his head to look at you. You could see the worry, the dread in his orbs. As much as he liked to put up a tough front you could tell. He’d lost people too. He knew what it was like. Maybe that’s why you both were drawn to each other.
“I can’t promise you that I’ll ever stop helping people Harry. It’s been graded into me, that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. What I can promise is that I’ll be careful. From now on I’ll try to limit how regular I use my abilities if it can be avoided. Sarah is almost completely recovered. When she is I’ll take a break and let my medical degree do the work.” he smiled at that.
“I feel as though that would be a challenge in itself.” you giggled.
“It will be, but I have to try. So don’t look so worried.” He closed his eyes for a moment, just relishing in the feel of your palms on his skin.
“I guess I can live with that.” he mumbled.
“By the way, what you said earlier sounded strangely like a confession. Did you have a crush on me this entire time.” He pulled back with a scoff.
“I’m Harrison Wells, I don’t get crushes.” You laughed. “That’s too bad, guess I’ll just have to give this kiss to a Harrison Wells that does get crushes.” He blinked.
“I mean..I’ll admit to having strong feelings towards you..” he bargained. You just giggled. He really was too proud for his own good sometimes. You leaned up on your toes pressing a kiss to his cheek.
