It bugs me that 80% of all armored chozo seen in the franchise do not look like they're wearing hyper-advanced biomechanical power armor and also carry spears for some reason
Like. the chozo soldiers in dread come close, I'm fully willing to accept them not having Samus' color scheme since I doubt just anyone would be allowed to have armor that cosplays the war god (I also like the idea that each progressive tier of warrior has flashier colors specifically because they have better defenses and therefore draw enemy fire away from the comparatively-weaker tiers of soldier) but like. At least the SR flashback chozo had vaguely-techy-looking spears. The dread guys just have normal-ass fucking spears. And also while I appreciate that their armor is styled similarly to the SR Varia it still looks way too thin to be a cool-ass Power Suit
Did Nintendo ever explain this. Is there like some obscure lore-post from 2017 that explains "oh well the arm cannon was actually a pretty uncommon chozo armament because they typically preferred having both hands usable as well as the ease of repairing/replacing that comes with having a bespoke weapon, and the spears double as melee and ranged weapons" or like... what
IT BUGS ME TOO SO MUCH. From what I can remember from the research I did for Fear of the Dark (GRANTED THIS WAS A WHILE AGO), I couldn’t find anything that might indicate how common Samus’ power suit/arm cannon setup actually is among Chozo warriors. I agree, it feels so weirdly inconsistent. That being said, I also really don’t keep up with the official Nintendo news side of things, so I have no idea if an official statement was ever made…….I dont exactly trust them to care very much about the inconsistencies either lol ToT
I am not super knowledgeable about this side of the lore and haven't played SR.......BUT I do wonder if the presence of an arm cannon could be chalked up to a status thing, like what you said about flashier colors for stronger fighters. As for the design inconsistencies, my thinking is that the suit has Always been presented as highly adaptable, so I don't think it'd be crazy to say a warrior could alter it based on individual preference/fighting style? Maybe they even have different presets for different environments, etc (like powerups that they carry around?? idk). It could also be that Samus just Needs thicker armor, being a human. everyone feel free to jump in if this makes zero sense lol
