i asked this at a trans/nb meet group i ised to go to actually n idr what the reasoning was but apparently like people didnt like? some connotation of the word folks like it had associations with something or another?? idk it was still kinda weird to me
it seems very white to me tbh like when white lgbtq+ people will colonize slang words and change their meaning for no apparent reason, a la the ‘fuckboy’ fiasco. far be it from me to tell people what words to use, i just find this one rather baffling since like...it already functions the way you’d want it to.
