Spoiler warning for MG1 and MG2: Solid Snake
I feel like I don't see enough people in the metal gear fandom talk about metal gear 1 and 2. Specifically about Solid Snake.
Lots of people will bring up those games when talking about Venom Snake and Big Boss to the point where I feel like Solid Snake is overlooked in his own game.
He was sent in to infiltrate Outer Heaven as his first FOXHOUND mission which was lead by a feared and legendary mercanary. He is then made to go save Gray Fox (and likely any prisoners he finds along the way) and destroy the metal gear only to find out that this 'feared and legendary mercenary' was his leader, Big Boss (kinda), who also just so happened to be his biological father (again, kinda since it was actually venom snake). The guilt that must have riddled him would be a crazy amount.
Then he tries to leave FOXHOUND for a while, attempting to leave behind all memories associated with Big Boss only to be called back by the new commander. Various things happen to him, including betrayal and witnessing deaths of allies (present and past) where he then goes face to face yet again with the man he thought he killed. Despite the hatred Snavid would have had for the man, he still has a deep conversation with his father. Solid would admit to the fact that he suffered from PTSD after the events of Outer Heaven and was willing to try anything to get rid of the guilt ('I came to get rid of the nightmares I've been having for the past 3 years'). He then has to, once again, kill his biological father.
During his retirement, he became an alcoholic. The memories being too much to handle sober.
This man was broken before the events of MGS1 and yet I can barely find anyone talking about it. If anyone can send me links to people discussing pre-MGS1 Snavid then please comment them because I need more content of him :)
