One of the first things I did when turning Meadow Glen V4 to Harveston County was move the house that My Sim Realty originally had located at 707 Moss Lane to the affluent neighborhood located all the way on the other side of the world. Doing so left an empty 30x30 lot, that I nearly forgot until I was placing smaller farmhouses in the rural area.

After a brief search I was reminded of the existence of Plasticbox’s Wee Barnoid #26, (also located on MTS). I first came across this build when I was looking for homes at the start of my Farming Town game which this world reno/set up is for. It was too small for the lot I had in mind then, but at 20x30 it fit this space here just fine.

After placing the lot I moved the trees and bushes that were located at the rear left of the property to the front right corner by the gate surrounding the garden. I slightly adjusted the windmill toward the empty space where I eventually intend to make a small barn. I then went around the left side of the house with dirt terrain paint in order to separate the house and the crop fields, before using the same or a slightly lighter dirt to make tire tracks in the front of the house and plop down a parking space and a truck.

As I mentioned previously, most of the homes I downloaded will be painted over in less lively or more faded looking colors.

This is the part of the world renovation journey where you all get to see how truly fickle and indecisive I can be. 

As I continued the process of turning My Sim Realty’s world Meadow Glen V4 to Harveston County, I decided that every residential house in the rural area that I initially did not like but then later decided to edit, would in fact be deleted and replaced after all.

So let’s start with the 60x60 lot that I just repositioned a few weeks ago to make room for the Living Farm. This lot was originally located at 505 Clover Road, before I moved it to the empty lot, 622 Clover Road, beside it. Well, while doing this worked wonders for the Living Farm placement, it made me realize why I initially didn’t want the home in the first place.

It’s just not small town farmy (another nonword) enough. Maybe it says “my family owns a vineyard.” Which cool, whatever, someone has to grow the grapes and make the wine. But it doesn’t fit my vision.

So I bulldozed the lot, saving the house in the library bin. I mean, I figured I could end up regretting my whole life if something else didn’t catch my eye. 

But low and behold, something did! 

While looking for smaller farmhouses for two empty lots in the area I happened upon @kenziisims​ speed build for Wildberry Farm. A project they were kind enough to share via mediafire. I downloaded the lot, placed it into my game, and then into the empty lot at 622 Clover Road the next time I played.

To fit it into the world I’m building, I removed the fountains and the pools the fountains were in, covering the space with the surrounding bushes. I removed the horse stalls, troughs, and the race course as I don’t want stables on this particular lot. I removed the treehouse in the back yard and replaced it with a  chestnut tree that is either CC or from a store world. The treehouse doesn’t mess with my overall vision, I just didn’t want it there. 

Two sides of the garage were actually without paint, so I corrected that issue. Finally, so the lot matched the area, I used the terrain paint tool to blend it with it’s surroundings.

I should note that I plan to pretty much repaint every house in this area of the world, so that the colors are more muted at the start of the game. It just takes me a long time to settle on colors so I’m saving that task for later.

Back in the downtown area as I attempt to turn My Sims Realty’s world Meadow Glen V4 to Harveston County for my Farming Town game play series. Today I’m finally getting around to adding some of Littlelambsy’s cute Little Business Shops, which used to be hosted over on their website, Simplemindedsims, but can now be found via The Wayback Machine (thanks again for giving me that link @murfeelee​).

The shop in this post is Simtown Records, and I plopped it down in the empty lot located at 45 Petals Bend. The shop is both a record store and a recording studio, but for Harveston County, I will be removing the studio and replacing it with instruments that will be available for purchase thanks to @anitmb​‘s Savvier Sellers Mod. 

I’m going to be honest here. I’ve never actually tried to use the original from the store. Whenever I see that there’s a modded version of an EA item, I just assume that the original is not worth bothering with.

Anywho, along with the studio replacement, I will probably repaint the walls, and possibly change the roof or add a second floor or something so that the external look of the building is more to my liking. That’s all future work, though. For just the placement, I used the eraser in the terrain paint section to remove the grass the shop originally came with, so that it matched with the world’s textures... Now if I can just find the patience to make the grass in the back of the Living’s Farm match.

Ended up back on Jarkad.eu while trying to find a farmhouse for the empty lot at 223 Cou Falls Road. There I came across this lovely place, simply referred to as Farm for two horses, that I just knew I had to fit into Harveston County some way.

Obviously I am a fan of their builds, but also this lot is located right across from the town’s stables, so JarkaD’s design helps to kind of transition the area from farms to ranches, and by extension the somewhat wealthier land owners from the renters.

It didn’t fit completely, however, and I had to make a couple of changes. 

First, I removed the horse course and opened up the fenced-in area so I could make a driveway. I also wrapped the gate partway around the piles of hay near the compound’s entrance to give it a cleaner, somewhat more practical appearance. Once the driveway was in place I created a walk path leading from the drive up to the porch steps, and then moved the brambles that were in front of the gate to the inner yard, over to the side so the entrance. Otherwise it was giving “nobody lives here” teas.

On the other side, (again where you can’t see), I removed a second gate, so that there would be only one (queue Highlander theme (am I telling my age again?)) entrance to the inner yard. I then used the eraser tool to remove the terrain paint along the perimeter of the property.

The next residential house in Meadow Glen V4′s rural area that I decided to just let go of, was the one I edited over at 156 Cou Falls Road. I remember not knowing why I wanted to get rid of it when I gave it a second look, and chopping it up to the kitchen and balcony jetting out. Once again, while surveying the area to place another lot, it dawned on me that the issue wasn’t just the kitchen. It was the fact that the house was so tall.

So, like the last post, I saved the house to the library bin, bulldozed, and then searched for a replacement. Within a day or two, I found Cyclonesue’s “Brown’s Farm” over on TSR, and I plopped it down onto the lot. 

After the initial placement I went into build mode. The first thing I did once in there, was flatten the area surrounding the barn. Next, I removed a great deal of terrain paint in the same area I flattened and toward the back of the house (which you totally can’t see from the pictures). Finally, I fenced in the area near the animal pens.

This farm has rather faded colors on the outer walls, so color wise, it may stay as is. I am no stranger to changing my mind, however, and cannot guarantee you wont end up seeing photos of a paint job.

Here are shots of Harveston County Police Station’s main work area. I forgot to say in the other post that I kept the wall style (inside and out) that Missyzim originally used for the place, but restricted the brick work to the station side of the building... I think. 

To me, the walls captured the kind of look I wanted for the town and also I liked the style and color choice in general. The flooring I changed, though it is the same in other parts of the building. I am not satisfied with it currently, but knew I wanted wood. I have a pattern that I downloaded that I want to try out, but as of now I do not yet have it in my game.

I also changed the type of stairs leading to the second story and tore down and/or re-walled various parts of the entire building.

I’m pretty sure the ceiling is dark like that because I haven’t decided on all of the lighting just yet that wasn’t the floor I was originally on when I went into tab mode. I noticed later that it goes dark like that if you use the up and down navigation keys in tab mode instead of using page up/down before hand.

All the way on the other side of town, on yet another beach, I placed Littlelambsy’s Little Business Shop “Drippy Cone Ice Cream Shop”. The place where it’s located did not have a lot there originally. However, there just enough space for a 10x15 beside the walkway leading to the two ports. Since I’ve designated this particular beach as a family friendly zone, I thought that an ice cream shop would fit this location perfectly.

Like the other lots by Littlelambsy that I’ve placed while turning Meadow Glen V4 to Harveston County, I erased the terrain paint so that the lot matched with the surrounding landscape. I also adjusted the lot’s name so that it would include the address “30 Magnolia Rd” as lots added to worlds in edit town do not allow addresses in the usual location, and I’ve never used CAW. That’s one more thing I have to get around to figuring out. In the future I plan to paint both the interior and exterior of this building, and I may play around with the roof a bit and add a functional register to make it operate more like an actual business.

There was space in front of the two ports to add another lot of the same size (I might actually be able to add more, I will have to go back into the game and check), so while you can’t tell from the pictures, I did my best to line one up between the paths leading to the two docks. 

While I didn’t like the interior of the seafood shop Littlelambsy built with this set of businesses, I like the idea of having a fish market near one of the docks. Although I’ve not totally made up my mind to place it in this location, this is one of the spots I’m currently eyeing for it.

I placed another of Littlelambsy’s business shops, Serenity Day Spa (again, this can be found here via the wayback machine), in the beach area a block over from the starter house neighborhood. I kind of like the idea of this area of town being a tacky imitation of a tropical location, so the bright yellow of the building and the mural, I think fits well with this and I likely won’t change the exterior colors.

I did, once again, erase the terrain paint, and I added the walkway leading to the entrance so that it matched the colors of the world’s existing sidewalk. I already know I will be adding the Sharper Sim Foot Massage Chair from the sims 3 store to the lot, probably replacing the chair you can kind of see through the window in the last shot. I may also add one of the small retail shelves @aroundthesims made compatible with @anitmb‘s Savvier Seller mod and sell some deco apothecary items, incense, and other items that go with the spa theme.
