Spring - Year 3

After a sponge bath, FroAnhke is the first to change into her new spring clothes.

With her hair untwisted and pulled into a puff, she helps Integrity grind wildflowers for flour, sugar, and oats (as I had not yet edited @anitmb's hunting mod food processor to process @echoweaver's harvestable wheat into flour).

FroAnhke's year 3 spring outfit goes through a couple of tweaks before she appears the way she does in her sim profile, and her alternate outfit (seen here) is tweaked again once I found a more suitable top. There are going to be a lot of little tweaks and re-tweaks of outfits and lot remodels. It would seem my design skills have to adjust between modern and period piece games, and I'm still rusty.

Three other family members, Trovinte, Assiduous and Pride, also change into their new spring outfits after washing up for the evening.

I didn't choose to do the makeovers in batches. Assiduous and Pride made their own outfits. FroAnhke made her and Trovinte's. Ru's outfit was also completed at this time, but I thought he'd hold off on changing into it until he'd finished Shocc's. Justice and Integrity had started their outfits, but not finished them, and FroAnkhe ended up finishing Integrity's outfit for them.

After FroAnhke and Integrity finish up grinding, Integrity heads over for some play time before dinner, while Trovinte catches up with his wife.

Then Ru finishes cooking and the family convenes in the dinning room. The rest of the Isol Isle sims will have to wait one more day before they change into their fresh gear.

@anitmb Merchant mod works just fine! I can finally set up a small market where my Sims can trade whatever they want. For example, we collected flowers and sold them at a mini market.))

A mixed crowd of early customers and vendors were pouring into the open air market when Conquer and Neji arrived. While the dog ran off to sniff people, and find a desirable spot to lounge, Conquer with occasional assistance from Tanner and Kale, unloaded the items to set up his stand, as well as the random bits and bobs he'd made or recovered during his time on the islands.

Once everything for commerce was in place, and Conquer had his chair and parasol set up, the sim slipped onto his seat and opened up the book he'd brought to keep himself company while things were slow.

I'm pretty sure when I initially set this up and played through this event, @anitmb had just released the second version (I know there's a new version already) of their Merchant Mod. As I hadn't yet tried it, or the original in game, I made up an excuse, much like I did for her Hunting mod, to tinker with it as I suspected both would become a regular part of my game play.

I had Conquer sell all of the gnomes that popped up while he was on Isla Paradiso. Also that completed statue is from Neji's hunting adventures near the rental. There were also some old books Conquer would end up selling to Kale eventually, and flowers in his inventory, and I took this opportunity to get rid of them.

On another note, I don't know if Rosemary actually bought something or if I shooed her away because her husband turned up. I have this weird thing about having different members of the same household buying things back to back at the same stall/vendor (not just with this mod, but any thing that allows sims to buy/sale stuff) like the game (and this might literally be how it works) just chucks them in line as customers without considering household relationship details. Like I'd prefer it if when mods and store content was coded to send sims home after purchases they did it by household and not individual. Then it's more like a family shopping trip.

Spring - Year 3

Shocc and FroAnhke have arrived at the family houseboat, and while the latter relaxes her feet at the dining table, Shocc prepares to serve cinnamon tea.

By this time, I’m pretty sure the variety of leaves at the family home have been dwindling. I knew, that I wanted to try out some of the other kettles compatible with @anitmb​’s Cup of tea mod (I use version 2) but I discovered I no longer had go to leaves (meaning, tea I’d drink in real life, lol) available at the home lot (possibly at all). 

Luckily for me I learned via thee googles that Cinnamon tea makes sims frisky, so I purposely brought it along to encourage relationship redevelopments.

Shocc and FroAnhke’s evening started out very casual, with them sipping tea and chatting. 

But what Shocc chose to discuss and his constant long glances at wife gave me the impression first husband was very much in his woe to woohoo bag, perhaps from the moment two cinnamon sticks were dropped into his personal inventory.

He went on to be very touchy feely once they started the transition from the table towards a couch.

Pulled a bouquet out as a surprise to further punctuate his point.

Then put his arms back around FroAnhke so there’d be no time for a flirty cool down period, lol.

Shocc, just as a note, Ru might need some of this attention too.

Setting Up Audre 5.2

Today we’re back at the PI Strip on 10 Pleasant Boulevard to take a look at the last retail shop that I fully renovated in @one-plumbob’s custom world, Pleasant Isle. As I mentioned in the first post for this lot, one-plumbob had 10 Pleasant Boulevard set up as the world’s elixir shop. The areas currently reserved for the unfinished housewares store, and the Audre African Arts Gallery were just shells. The only area that was furnished was the section of the building featured in this post.

This building I now call Sun and Sea Pharmacy, because the sign I used had those images on it, lol. While the structure was a multi story community space, I either cut access to the basement, or completely deleted it. I can’t remember with certainty which I did.

The front of the building pretty much remains the same; two entrances with yellow benches sat out between them. The changes I did make were mostly cosmetic. I moved the neon sign that was once above the gallery entrance onto the pharmacy’s outer front windows. I added some welcome mats in front of each entrance, although I totally forgot to recolor them. I also decorated the window panes with custom medical posters that I want to say came from @aroundthesims, but may be from another creator. 

If anyone wants to verify/correct me on this, just comment and I’ll update the post.

The original lot used a nice wood pattern inside that I decided to add to all the shelving. I also used it for the register/prescription drug section of the pharmacy. That being, the columns, the half walls, counters, etc.

I think I might have lightened the white of the windows, switching it from wood to a custom miscellaneous white. I also changed the color of the paint above the wall panel, but the floor is the same as the original.

Unlike some of my other games, where I have a sim dedicated to making potions, Audre isn’t meant to be played in rounds that allow me to make sure all my sims are contributing to world upkeep. Additionally, while @anitmb’s merchant mod sales potions fine, I think it can’t clone them, so I wouldn’t be able to load a sim’s inventory from potions made in another game and resale them using the clone option.

So there are no potions. Instead, the pharmacy carries all the custom soaps, bubble bath, and bath bombs (which I think are rubber ducks) by Sandy, @mspoodle1, and @phoebejaysims​ (I might be missing someone here, lol).

Sun And Sea also carries the shower in a can and mosquito spray bottles that came with World Adventures, and probably one or two custom recolors of those items most likely made by one of the already mentioned creators.

Of course, using the merchant mod means being able to sale the custom personal care and house cleaning items on display. So there will be plenty of other items on sale here.

Several months back I introduced a friend to TS3 by loading up this save and showing off my renos. They’ve heard me talk about the sims, and watched a few minutes of Let’s Plays, but this was there first time really getting a look around in one of my games. This friend lives in the area that Pleasant Isle takes it’s inspiration from. They complemented both Sunflower Fresh Market (the most popular reno from this series), and Sun and Sea Pharmacy. 

I guess these shops look the most like the places they visit on the daily.

Of the hunting trip shots I couldn’t use for FTT, this is my favorite. In the story, Conquer finally shoots something after a little struggle and Jessie has to go and search for it. In reality, neither the hunting mod, nor my actual game play work that way. 

You stand in front of the marker, you shoot, the animal you chose appears on the ground in your line of sight (if you sim is successful), no searching required.

Setting Up Audre 2.4

Moving on from the Sunflower Fresh Market and out of the blue building to the brick structure nestled in the middle of the Franklin Market public strip. 

This is where I’ve placed my Nectar Shop and Fromagore, which I’m hoping will eventually get a name, lol. I am thinking once I have a better idea of who all lives in Audre, and thus who will work/own this place something will come to me. However, I’m also open to suggestions.

So when I was taking a look at this world and kind of creating a mental build map, I wasn’t really sure what this section of the lot would be. I just knew I wanted tables in front of those large windows, so some kind of food/drink related establishment.

I don’t recall what exactly lead me to make this nectar focused as oppose to a café or diner, and even as I was working inside, I questioned if I should make it a different venue. I’m guessing as I imagined the courtship of my self sim and love interest, I also thought of date activities. Despite the fact that I don’t and have never drank, and have never really been (aside childhood trips) to any alcohol focused establishment, I imagine having listened to enough people talk about sampling wines or going to Napa Valley, plus well the nectar maker, made having a nectary in Audre seem natural. For me, I suppose, it also made sense for it to be near my grocer and bakery, although I can’t say the same for it being beside a pet shop, lol.

The decision to also make this a Fromagore came as I was completing the first level. I was placing decorative items, and couldn’t figure out what to put in that spot beside the door. Around the time when I was trying to think of what goes with wine in real life I was catching posts on my dash of people tinkering with food processor that goes with @anitmb​’s hunting mod so that it could produce cheese. Then I went, duh, cheese, then patrons not only have the option of sampling, buying and making nectar but making and buying cheese as a part of the venue’s experience.

Here’s a shot of the sale’s floor from behind and then beside the register.

Those red shelves are custom wine racks. I found them way back a little after when talking about how shocked I was that there were very few cc racks online. I can’t remember who created these, but I am grateful to have a modern alternative. Clearly, like the food selves in my previous renos, the racks are bare, as I have not stocked them yet. 

Through the archway is a small sitting room, where guest can sit and enjoy nectar, cheese, and a good book. 

I imagined this place would throw seasonal events, that encouraged large crowds to sample wine and cheese. That it would also allow groups to rent the place out for more private sampling events, and in between these, regulars might use the siting area to have a glass of nectar and some cheese while on a date or enjoying some solitary time while reading a book.

That couch ended up here simply because I downloaded it sometime ago, but never used it. I didn’t know that it’s limited in how it could be recolored, but managed to make it work well enough to go along with the atmosphere.

I’m not entirely sure I’ll keep the walls in the sitting room, or if I will replace them. At the time I moved on to work on something else I was satisfied. As I look at these images now, however, I don’t like the combination of the molding with that arch, and the arch is definitely staying, lol.

Setting Up Audre 4

At 11 Pleasant Boulevard, just around the corner from The Sea Salt Strip,  @one-plumbob​​ built another partially accessible community lot. The venue is called “Edgar’s Aunt’s Pawn Shop” and in Pleasant Isle it serves as the Cosignment store.

While planning for Audre, I thought about the aspects of Farm Town play that I most enjoyed. Finding items in the junkyard and repairing them (using an MTS mod) for Conquer’s home, gave me a great amount of joy. I decided wanted to replicate some of that in Audre. I thought, with the mod I was using, and @anitmb​‘s merchant mod, I could make a functional used appliance and electronics store, maybe one that does repairs. I figured this kind of lot could serve as a base for my repairman and that the set up would very much resemble a pawn shop. 

I’m still working that concept out in my head, but as the occupied section of one-plumbob’s lot looks more like a boutique, and I don’t want to spend too much time on yet another clothing store, 11 Pleasant would no longer work as the Cosignment spot.

So I changed the lot type, made the other sections on the first floor sim accessible, and changed the name.

Edgar’s Aunt’s Pawn Shop became Edgar Square, and for now the lot holds three community spots. The first, on the far right, is Vanity. It’s the edit of the cosignment section and is now Audre’s clothing, shoe, and accessory shop. The next shop, tucked in the middle, is Boulevard Hardware, created with my future carpenter in mind. The third shop is a little donut and coffee place, currently set up to sale the different custom bagel and pastry morsels I’ve downloaded over the years. 

Admittedly, I’m not satisfied with this last shop. I suspect sometime before I start playing in live that it will become something else entirely. I have no idea what that something else is just yet, though.

Anywho, Today I’ll share some pictures of Vanity. 

This shop has the largest square footage, and is now separated into two departments, so I’ll also split this into two parts.

The first section, just located beyond the entrance is dedicated to shoes and accessories. 

Originally, as the cosignment store, this was the section that had non-clothing related items, so it required the most work. 

That work primarily consisted of swopping out things from the shelves, and replacing them with deco items fitting the store’s new theme.

I’ve always intended to make a shoe store, (or a shoe section to a larger store), complete with little benches so it looks like my sims can sit down and try things on. 

Other than having a rack in retail spaces more dedicated to clothing, I never got around to building a place from scratch. 

Even though this is a reno, and I pretty much kept this lot’s original color scheme (lightening or adjusting here and there) and lay out, doing this section felt like accomplishing an old goal.
