I want this fella to be in wilds
Comparing the New World and Eastland Research Comissions is so, so funny to me bc it really does seem like Fabius learned from the mistakes of the first go round. The Eastlands Commission mostly operates like a well-oiled machine. We have multiple units each with a hunter, handler, engineer and palico. Each handler has a unique field of research so we're covering all our bases while also making sure there's a somewhat equal division of labor across units, but also that there's enough units that some can take on more specialized tasks such as searching for the Keepers. We have decently set up base camps with all the necessities in every locale. Most quests have been run through the proper channels long before the hunters ever see it, and quests are either given out individually by handlers or created to respond to a very immediate threat so we're not just killing monsters for the sake of it. We've even made it a requirement that every individual hunt needs to be verbally authorized with reason by someone with the authority to do so. Everything is up to code.
Meanwhile in the new world our unofficial motto is "geniuses, weirdos and troublemakers" because while everyone here is the best in their field they are also all slightly insane. we have no idea where half the remaining first fleet members are because they vanished into the wilderness to chase down completely separate unclassified dragons. The reason they're Like That is because we sent most of the engineers on the second fleet so they were just out here roughing it for a while until they had enough people to build actual housing. 40% of our researchers are missing until the main story because they slapped a balloon onto their ship to try and pass over a huge chasm and just fell down there and were stuck in a hole for like 30 years. The gathering hub is a ship that we wrecked and got stuck on some huge rocks and when the water level dropped and we couldn't get it down we just decided to turn it into an incredibly precarious bar. The Admiral fights monsters with his bare hands and we just let him. We briefly had a work partnership with an independent contractor called Geralt of Rivia
