finally the time has come to fill my cas blog. For about the service I am going to write one note for a several meetings because it all has one end. I heard from my friend from IB2 about action ‘żonkile’ which is being set to celebrate the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising which had its place in 1943. In this year we had 72 anniversary of Ghetto Uprising and Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich did an event which was about reminding random people on a warsaw streets what Ghetto Uprising in 1943 was and why Jews did it.
Firstly, in early March we had to sing up and give them signs that we want to participate, why we want, what we can do. Secondly, in the second half of March we were supposed to share information about this event where ever it was possible - mainly at schools or workplaces or streets. Later on, through all time between end of March and 19.04 when the event had its place we had meeting where we met as a group of volunteers met with special guys who told us how to speak efficiently with people (things such as looking another person straight into eyes, or smoothly moving in the other persons direction in order to not to scary her/him) Thirdly, on Sunday, April the 19th where the event had its place we were divided into small groups, I was assigned with my friend to give paper daffodils (because a daffodil was an emblem of this event) as well as some leaflets on żoliborz probably the best part of warsaw we could get. we were standing/walking/searching for people without an yellow daffodil on his/her jacket and it was quite hard because nearly everyone had it already. So me and my friend were walking through żoliborz about 6 hours giving the yellow flowers and after all we went home.
I think that events like this give a lot to think and are great experiences. Everyone has to go though volunteer work like this because after it there appears a feeling which is irreplaceble and you cant get it from another place than volunteerworkkk
Peace!
